No posts in here for a few days, so I figured I would share. I'm proud of AAAing Parachute because I tried for this token a few months ago and didn't get it because I got like 12 goods on Parachute. Sure sign of getting better at FFR that I could AAA that staircase thing.

I feel stupid asking this-however-I've FINALLY gotten my average rank below 5000. I play one-handed, 3 fingers lol.

How does one does get onto the list? Or is there some fine print I missed haha.

Thanks!

You have to just have an average rank that exceeds the person in 30th place on the list. However, since many of the one handers who used to populate this list, post their scores and such have either left or switched to spread I haven't updated it recently.

I'm still kind of waiting on a renaissance of sorts - a new group of one handers who became interested in the thread and the idea and committed themselves to becoming really good at the style. When that happens I'll certainly get back into the habit of updating it regularly again.

Just found an old USB keyboard with arrow keys wide enough for me to play on. I shall try playing one-handed again soon. :]

Yippee! Show me your scores when you think they're good - I'd love to see them.

Bynary, if the interest becomes great enough I will code a simple rankings page. That way you wont have to update it.

Really? I didn't know you could do that - that would be amazing! If the fancy ever strikes you then go ahead - perhaps to compensate for the fewer active one handers on FFR you can make the requirements stricter, e.g top 15 instead of top 30.

I should compose you a chiptune theme for that. :3

Well when it comes to competitive play for scoring purposes, two-handed playing is pretty much the way to go. If you were striving to play for scoring purposes, two hands is a no brainer. But there are still a number of people here who play one-handed either for fun, or as their own playing style. While you can't achieve scores that two-handers can potentially get, one-handed players are still proud of their accomplishments since it's a completely different way of playing that still requires skill. One-handed playing is only a roadblock if you're trying to achieve the highest scores possible.

Lol...this beats my second-highest score by a million and 500 combo, but at least I finally did this well. Long songs just kill me, at least this one isn't too difficult. But at the end I couldn't even mash the trills anymore :P.

Go for the FC, I know you can do it :P I got this run not too long ago but now when I try I always get a miss in a random early part.

EDIT: noooooooooooooooo

Do any of you guys play ThirdStyle? Maybe I'm just not fully used to it yet but I always end up having trouble with more complicated hold patterns. Wondering if it's another disadvantage of playing one-handed or if I just need to practice them more to get better.

There are some files that will be nearly impossible to play without drastic changes to your style of 1 handed play, and other that are simply impossible without 4 available fingers.

Yes, this is a disadvantage, but we are mostly all here to have fun not compete with the Gurus. (That's near impossible without 4 fingers.)

Yeah, holds... are just so impossible for me, and I can't imagine many other to have fun with three fingers while trying to hold a down arrow and jack the up arrow ._.

When I practice one-handed on SM, I always turn off holds and mines

I don't think I've yet bothered playing any levels hard enough to have a pattern like that :P but yesterday I was trying to practice always doing down holds with the last joint of my middle finger so it was easier to hit up arrows at the same time. And as for other things I think it's just a matter of training my brain, because many are totally doable, I'm just too used to FFR so I keep letting go of the holds and stuff.

So I was wondering, are there any Tier Points that are easier than most? I just don't like having 0. I haven't played all those songs recently, in improving my levelranks I'm slowly going up the difficulties and currently on 8s mostly. I've played Crowdpleaser a lot and my score is pretty close to the 1 TP requirement, but I just really can't do hard stuff so I dunno if it's actually reachable. Most of them at like high 10s and up just turn into mashfests for me, which I don't like doing.
