Re: Destiny
For the sake of a clean argument, what is it that Borderlands does so much better? Please be specific. In my opinion, I love the dialogue in Borderlands which is the only huge downfall in Destiny.

Re: Destiny
Borderlands has MUCH better writing. Story, character, dialogue, even setting (which was supposed to be one of Destiny's selling points)
Everything I've seen in Destiny (and I've watched my friend do over a dozen hours of gameplay at this point) involves you escorting your floating robot football to scan a computer. No immersion, no dialogue, zero development. Clear win for Borderlands. Borderlands and Destiny both do okay on the weapons with interesting effects department, but the acquisition of those weapons is incredibly stupid in Destiny. I've gotten angry by proxy just watching my buddy try to earn loot in that game, the Engram system can go fuck itself with a rake. Legendary engram? lol lets just decode this into a crafting material you already have 4000 of haha real fucking funny Bungie I'll give points to Destiny for the PvP, which does feel rather nice. Borderlands PvP was a hilarious and messy affair, fun for a while but then kinda ran out of steam, whereas Destiny's seems more integrated and polished. "Balanced" or "skilled" aren't the right words, but I'd say that it is slower and more deliberate in a good way; it's got a lot more room for finesse and I like that feel a lot. Largely for me it comes down to the atmosphere of the game. Destiny has no more depth than an arcade game, you do the same mission over and over then at the end you earn bigger numbers. There's no development of your character, no immersion, and the story is incredibly weak. And these are all things that I really enjoyed in Borderlands that in turn make everything else more enjoyable- missions, grinding, loot, raids and everything else is so much better when in the context of good writing.

Re: Destiny
My brother went to Boston for college to play hockey. Tonight is his 21st birthday & NHL16 came out too. Joy! He walks into Gamestop, grabs NHL & the guy at the counter goes "alright so that's NHL and here is your copy of The Taken King". My bro just called me freaking out and is like "...did this dude just give us a free game?"
Yes. Yes he did. Apparently I (Russell) had a copy reserved & paid for. The guy searched for last name after asking for a gamestop card. My brother doesn't have one but I do. Not like "Oh I totally forgot I ordered this!"...I download all my games & haven't played Destiny since literally last Halloween. Not only was it The Taken King but it was the legendary edition so base game, House of Wolves and Dark Below. Happy birthday & good luck guardians. |

Does anyone else play this still? I'm still playing it since last year, so if you need help (and I don't want to be alone forever) just message me.

Re: Destiny
After playing through TDB, HoW and getting up to King's Fall I've had alot of fun. Nice changes in the past year since I've played. Still running into the same problems though - 15 straight strikes (so vanguard buff &&& 3oC) no exotics (RNG BBY YA I NO AYY LMAO). AFK left and right in matchmade with only the smallest chance of having another join. Lots of random *killed by The Ancients/misadventure* Ill have to upload the video of me just standing on Earth & I die. Literally nothing spawned or shot me.
Again, it was worth getting back into but there just...idk. Maybe it's that I don't have a real fireteam to run anything with. 290 light and vanguard playlist is the best thing I can do with my time. |

Re: Destiny
Just got this for the PS4 the other day. Level 36 after 14 hours of gameplay. Hopefully there is still a lot of content left in the game and stuff that is actually difficult.

Re: Destiny
Did you get The Taken King or just the vanilla edition? There is a LOT of content with the newest expansion, and for someone just starting out the amount of missions, hidden ghosts, and subclasses to explore would honestly be pretty overwhelming to me. Also the developers have been periodically including new subquests, exotic weapon missions, and just today crucible maps. It's an exciting time to be a player.

Re: Destiny
I got the taken king. I already finished the primary story line. Not quite sure what to do at this point. It doesn't seem immediately obvious what my goal is.

Re: Destiny
I've basically maxed out the gear I can get without doing raids. It isn't very easy getting 6 people together for this.
