Realtime Multiplayer Games HTML5/Javascript

I need help setting one up. I've looked at a couple options:

I understand how to organize my code and the algorithms and stuff. I hope no issues with the logic part. What I completely don't understand is how to set up the code. I can't just copy the source code of all these examples and duplicate the result. There seems to be more or I'm missing something, and I have no idea what. Sometimes I see it says to install something, but I don't understand how and why I'm installing anything if I'm putting it on my website.

Can anyone help?
