Default Help with song making

I was making a song for the first time, and it always saves as a text document even when i change it. I try and delete the ".txt" off the end but i can't. Any help is appreciated.

uh...

make a notepad file or whatever, put in the song name, bpm, etc etc... then go to save as, move the box to 'all files' then smack down a .dwi after the file name. BAM, should appear in the folder as a .dwi file.

well... that's because... it's supposed to...

After you put the song and the .sm or .dwi file into the folder, exit out and go into stepmania. It should load up the song and then go to edit/synch arrows...

Okay i got it to work! w00t! w00t!

Not, there's still a problem. the .sm trick worked, but every time i load SM, it says that on the song, no BPM was specified. If anyone wants to try to help me, say so and i'll pm the sm file to them.

damn... just make it a .dwi.... go into edit synch mode... goto the very first bar and use f-7 and f-8 to change the bpm up or down.. then hit Esc button and hit save.. quit the program.. open the folder with the song and stepfile in it... delete the one that says OLD DWI and the one that says SM... the new dwi file is the only one you need to work with SM..
