and some people take several hours to compose a song. exactly the point of an OHC is to get you to be more efficient - trim down the workflow, get and use inspiration faster, optimize away all the stuff you can do beforehand, etc - so you are not just faster, but better since you don't have to think as hard. I don't see any reason why a stepping OHC wouldn't work as well
