Yeah, I never liked the villan of this episode, thought his character could have been made better. But the door. Damn that was a great addition.

This was the exact same thing that ran through my mind; that was definitely well-handled. It would have been pretty neat to actually visualize what was going on in Spike's thoughts at that time, but it's really not relevant and would have drained time.

Have to agree with Chaz though -- they had a pretty elaborate backstory for the antagonist but it hardly was delved into when actually trying to take care of him. The concept of the first two episodes was there, it just felt a bit rushed.

Well, the concept of the episodes were focused on the Crystal Empire and the Crystal Heart than the villain entirely. I like the fact that King Sombra was a looming threat instead of a dynamic character. Sombra = Shadow, so that worked out.

I'm curious about the book Luna had at the end of the episode, hmm... That's something to think about.

Overall one of the best episodes I've seen in a while, which is a good thing because Season 3 has had a few flops.

It's been a hit and miss. I find myself really watching it for the background ponies. I'm really disappointed that there has STILL Been no derpy in season 3. But I'm glad they brought back ponies such as thunderlane, and cloudchaser and whatnot.

Episode wise, they seem to be focusing a bit more on songs, which I find to be successful. However the plot might suffer. They do need to create something a bit different because I have been noticing a pattern.

Also, I love how many times the Apple family's barn gets destroyed, and they need to rebuild it. There should be a counter for that.

I don't know, I guess I like the show too much to show an active dislike for an episode. I've enjoyed all the episodes and the development of the characters and the plots. Can't wait for the remaining episodes! :P
