Re: TWG XCVII: The Flame War - POST GAME
Awesome game. Loved every minute of it, and hated all of it at the same time hahaha. Thanks for hosting, YoshL. All said and done, I think this game was a raging success.
This game was my first game as a townie in roughly 7 years. Yeah, it's every bit as tense and exciting as I remember. Still gonna work on improving! j-rodd: You are way, way, way better than me at this game. I slid you up on my suspicion list because I knew you had the capability to fool the shit out of me, but I didn't even believe what I was saying. Holy shit. Bravo. YMIA: HA! I was right! I thought *for sure* that you were town. (Well, I thought the same about jrodd.) I think you're really starting to get into the swing of things here. I hope we get the chance to play together in future games. cedo: Strong contributions early on. Sorry to hear about the work situation! Hope things get better for ya, man. Xiz: Rookie of the Year. ROOKIE OF THE YEAR. I really hope you stick around, bro. Also we gotta play some poker sometime. James: Champion of activity. I really appreciate how much effort you put into this game, because I too was trying incredibly hard to make the right decisions. It was hurting my brain. You've really improved at this game, big time. Keep it up! Viccica: I swear, you are impossible to read. One of these games, you're going to be red, and I won't have a damn clue. Your posts are concise and your logic is clear. It's fun having you around. Netjet: Rough Day 1... I've been there, bro. Hahaha. Hit me up if you wanna talk TWG sometime! Zoshi/Sage: You crazy Lemmy's Land folk! Stop acting so suspiciously! Hahah. You guys made things interesting. Kraut: Man, did I airball hard on my assault against you. I suppose we were both wrong You're an active player and a valuable part of this community. I'm working on warming up to games of TWG with AIM involved, and I hope you can do the same with non-AIM games! V: Brutal at the end, there. Your posts are seriously riveting. I consider you to be, like, my TWG godfather. I bet some other players here do too. C9++ anyone? Tps: You goddamn rascal. The game-winning play from you and j-rodd has your influence all over it. Hahaha. See ya in IRC bro. |

To be honest I was kinda baffled at how nobody alive seemed to consider how somebody dead could have been the Fireman, dying due to inactivity or being unable to claim due to who knows what. It is the same "WHEN ROLEBLOCKER CARDFLIPS AS ROLEBLOCKER" story again, hahahahaha |

Re: TWG XCVII: The Flame War - POST GAME
TPS complained early on about not be able to use AIM in a match before a game of DotA and part of me over-analyzed that and also his posts concerning jrodd and he did an incredible job of being a convincing human. He was literally going to win either way. (His complaint wasn't game specific it was about the no-AIM game trend in general.)
That game-ending play was spectacular. I was trying to think outside the box to find a way to control the end of game that I figured the wolves might not have foreseen. I had an extremely strong belief that YMIA and jrodd were the final wolves. TPS, although, was as close to clear as someone could get. Fucking brilliant. This was well deserved in every sense. TPS and j-rodd's plays were all game defining, and that shows an extreme amount of thought and dedication to winning. TPS' half-hearted attack on viccica was beautiful, and j-rodd's feigned indignation and push to lynch TPS was just some masterful acting. TPS has always been a great player, but I think jrodd's play shows just a huge fuckin' jump in style and thought from when he first started. I would say more about the humans but really all of the glory goes to the wolves for cinching a victory after a terrible first few days. This is the sort of game you read again and again to learn what you should actually be doing in a TWG as either a human or a wolf. I want to give cred to danceguy for bringing the guns on trying to keep activity going and I want to give cred to James and xiz for some great analysis throughout. |

Re: TWG XCVII: The Flame War - POST GAME
I really should have analyzed TPS' agreement with me on cedolad more. That is a place where I really fucked up.
Many of the lynches were bad but I felt half-hearted about them and in doing so squandered our lead, as all of us did. I think being ahead that much puts you into a comfort zone, and in TWG your comfort zone is absolutely the worst place in the world for you, no matter who you are. The lynch on sage shouldn't have happened, and the lynch on viccica should have really been a lynch on jrodd or TPS given the circumstance, and going for viccica should have had more red flags to me about it. The lynch on Krauthammer was entirely intentional and that was just a bad read. |

James, one tip: (and i'm not really in a position to give advice, but eh)
You were waiting for input from players in the last few Day phases, and you knew a small chunk of those players were on the opposing team. Those players will try to mislead you. You can try to trick them into saying something they shouldn't, but you don't want to take everything to heart. Definitely try to avoid an emotional reaction, too, as that can cloud judgment. |

Re: TWG XCVII: The Flame War - POST GAME
was fun thanks yoshl. we were in a lame spot missing 2 nights in a row and having netjet lynched day 1 lol. so we just offered some human strategies while trying to find the seer. after day 1 we had it between danceguy and cedo, and went danceguy. but then the next day figured cedo so blocked him, and then the day after james came out so we knew for sure it was both of them so kept blocking cedo.
we couldnt control night kills so we just seemed to pick on targets who could get heat easily for lynches. then we were planning a sacrifice of me so that tps could last longer because the list of clear players were growing and unclear players were diminishing. so slowly i started doing things that were more suspicious, being emotional and all of that, but you guys were about to lynch me a day earlier than expected. so we had the fireman as either dance or vic, so we gambled and i came out as fireman, it worked thankfully as vic wasnt around and we survived that. we then knew it was safe for tps to come out as fireman as a counterclaim and then we were essentially setting up a lynch on me. i stayed out of the thread for a while so tps could make his case on me (since obv we both claimed and we HAD to vote each other), and hoped that heat would build against me. we just got really lucky that there was a vote on yoman and i instantly messaged tps for the insta. |

Re: TWG XCVII: The Flame War - POST GAME
This was an entertaining game behind the scenes. Kudos to JRodd for his roleblocker read on cedo, that proved essentially important down the line. I'm not going to go into much detail with the specifics (anything i say can and will be used against me in a game of TWG : P ) but it was a great overall game from everyone. The level of play around here is really on the rise, and this is the healthiest the TWG community has been in years.
I can't wait to play the next one with you all : ) |
