Magic: The Gathering
For those who don't know, Magic is a TCG created by Wizards of the Coast. (More commonly known for their table top RPG, Dungeons and Dragons.) Since WC's thread failed, I'm making a new one. I'm creating this thread to get in touch with any other avid players of MTG who happen to hang around FFR.
I'd basically just like to open up some general discussion about Magic. If anyone plays, post a list of the cards in your decks, or something. EDIT: My deck! I kind of just threw it together for the **** of it. 2 Mana Reflection (R) 1 Avatar of Might (R) 1 Planar Cleansing (R) 1 Spellbook (U) 1 Soul's Majesty (R) 1 Hobble (C) 1 Cliff Threader (C) 1 Kazandu Blademaster (U) 1 Maro (R) 1 Palace Guard (U) 2 Gigantiform (R) 1 Master of the Wild Hunt (MR) 1 Molimo, Maro-Sorcerer (R) 1 pacifism (C) 1 Protean Hydra (MR) 1 Indestructibility (R) 1 Terra Stomper (R) 1 Lich's Mirror (MR) 1 Dosan's Oldest Chant (C) 1 Stream of Life (U) 1 Kalonian Behemoth (R) 1 Wrath of God (R) 1 Righteousness (U) 1 Oracle of Mul Daya (R) 1 Platinum Angel (MR) 1 Ferocious Charge (C) 1 Ivy Elemental (R) 1 Minion Reflector (R) 2 Predatory Urge (R) 1 Luminarch Ascension (R) 1 Seedborn Muse (R) 1 Spawnwrithe (R) 1 Angel's Grace (R) 1 Final Judgment (R) 1 Celestial Mantle (R) 1 Iona, Shield of Emeria (MR) 1 Greenweaver Druid (U) 1 Thorn Elemental (R) 1 Steppe Lynx (U) 2 Eternity Vessel (MR) 1 Natural Spring (C) 1 Reliquary Tower Some forests Some plains

Re: Magic: The Gathering
I've only been playing for about six. But, with the release of M10 and Zendikar, I've gotten more into it.
EDIT: A2P: Says the one who's been asking me about MTG for the past month 8)

Re: Magic: The Gathering
8th edition was okay, but I think I liked 7th Ed the most. Zendikar is the most amazing set yet.

Re: Magic: The Gathering
I have a 60 card deck built for turbo style of play that I made in about 10 minutes to play against a friend. He wanted to see how well his ****ty artifact deck would do against me so that's why I have so many destroy artifact cards. This is the only deck I have at the moment, so this'll have to suffice.
I played mostly 7th edition and Odyssey. I played for a little bit into 8th edition, but Kawagami or whatever sucked major **** so I quit. Note that M means 1 mountain mana. So 3M means 3 generic mana + 1 mountain mana. 30 Mountain Mana (with one that I can sacrifice and add a mana of any color to my pool) 4 Lava Burst [Sorcery] (Tap XM, deal X damage to target creature or player.) 3 Flame Jet [Sorcery] (Tap XM, deal 3 damage to target creature or player.) 3 Shatter [Instant] (Tap 1M, destroy target Artifact.) 1 Volcanic Hammer [Sorcery] (Tap 1M, deal 3 damage to target creature or player.) 1 Lava Axe [Sorcery] (Tap 4M, deal 5 damage to target player.) 1 Lightning Blast [Instant] (Tap 3M, deal 4 damage to target creature or player.) 1 Scorching Missile [Sorcery] (Tap 3M, flashback 9M, deal 4 damage to target player.) 1 Blaze [Sorcery] (Tap XM, deal X damage to target creature or player.) 1 Fireball [Sorcery] (Tap XM, deal X damage to target creature or player.) 1 Liquid Fire [Sorcery] (Tap 4MM, deal 5 damage divided how I choose between a target creature and a target player.) 1 Browbeat [Sorcery] (Tap 2M, unless a player has Browbeat, deal 5 damage to him or her, target player draws three cards.) 1 Genju of the Spires [Enchant Mountain] (Tap M, for 2 generic mana, enchanted Mountain becomes a 6/1 red Spirit creature until end of turn. It's still a land. When enchanted Mountain is put into a graveyard, you may return Genju from your graveyard to your hand.) 1 Sudden Impact [Instant] (Tap 3M, deals damage equal to the number of cards in target player's hand to that player.) 1 Volcanic Geyser [Instant] (Tap XMM, deal X damage to target creature or player) 1 Recoup [Sorcery] (Tap 1M, flashback for 3M, target sorcery card in your graveyard gains flashback until the end of turn. It's flashback cost is equal to its mana cost.) 1 Starstorm [Instant] (Tap XMM, deal X damage to each creature.) 1 Spitting Earth [Sorcery] (Tap 1M, deals damage equal to the number of mountains you control to target creature.) 1 Shaman's Trance [Instant] (Tap 2M, until end of turn, other players can't play cards from their graveyards, and you may play cards from other players' graveyards as though they were in your graveyard.) 1 Burning Sands [Enchantment] (Tap 3MM, whenever a creature is put into a graveyard from play, that creature's controller sacs a land.) 1 Rain of Rust [Instant] (Tap 3MM, Entwine (play both effects) for extra 3M, choose one - destroy target artifact, or destroy target land.) 1 Meltdown [Sorcery] (Tap XM, destroy each artifact with total casting cost X or less.) 1 Grab the Reins [Instant] (Tap 3M, Entwine (play both effects) for extra 2M, choose one - until end of turn, you gain control of target creature and it gains haste; or sacrifice a creature, then Grab the Reins deals damage equal to that creature's power to target creature or player.) 1 Thran Foundry [Artifact] (Tap 1, tap 1 and remove Thran Foundry from the game: target player shuffles his or her graveyard into his or her library.) EDIT: Playing Turbo, I've killed an opponent in 4 turns with a deck similar to this. Basically hinges on whether or not I pull Sudden Impact early in the game. I'm going to the Grand Prix this weekend. It's in Minneapolis and it would be awesome if I win. I doubt it but oh well...

Re: Magic: The Gathering
I remember playing this years ago, although I don't think our family got as into it as you guys seem to. I mostly messed around with either a Black Rat/Discard deck or a green Overrun deck. All of our cards were pretty old, too, and I don't think we got anything from beyond the Mirrodin set other than a few ninja cards. x_x
...Next time I'm home, I should check to see if any of my decks are still together or if we jumbled everything back into the box. P.S. I remember that Slivers were badass. Or used to be. Are they still that way? |

my friends and I play all the time I have about 4 working decks. All of my cards are older (5-10 years), but I'm slowly working select newer ones in to attempt to keep up. I'll build my black deck online and post a link in a sec. edit: http://mtgvault.com/EditDeck.aspx?De...kCardID=620495 here's what I remember my deck being. The cards are actually at my best friend's house, so it might not be the exact right ratio of cards, but I'm not missing anything Last edited by bender5; 11-9-2009 at 11:54 PM.. |

Re: Magic: The Gathering
I only got into this a few months ago, so the only set that came out since I started was Zendikar.
I have 4 decks (60 each). Not a lot of strategy in them, but they work. G/W (Power), U (Flying), R/B (Ally), and G/B (Hybrid). |

Re: Magic: The Gathering
Ahhh I remember playing this back in high school I quit playing a little bit before darksteel and the 5th dawn expansions came out xP
When scourage came out I had a pretty nasty minds desire deck that would mop up local tournaments. I sold off all my cards but I would definetly go to a booster draft though. |
