How come when you are playing at 1.25x or 1.5x of speed , you play better?
i used 1.25x and I just FC'd July, if I were to play at 1.00x, I can't even manage to get 200 combos!
How can you play faster and be better??? there's gotta be a cache!!!! |

I suppose it's because any speed faster than 1.0X spreads the notes out for you, so you can see rhythms more clearly.
And you have to react faster...so you'll hit them more accurately. |

the notes are spread out further with a higher speedmod so players can see the notes better.

The main thing is that there are less notes on the screen so your brain is processing less information at a time which makes it easier to focus on the important arrows.

Your right spammy, But you know just as well as I do that generaly speaking the best players are off of 1.0 and 1.5 If I had the time to play as much as you do I would be better than you. That is if I wasn't on a wireless keyboard... Last edited by gausmaster; 11-30-2008 at 09:55 PM.. Reason: u need to chill |

Well, imagine if there was a 0.25x mod and you could play like that. All the arrows would be so smushed together it'd look like a wall of colour, you'd have no idea when everything is coming. Remember that judgments are based on the time, not the space, that you hit them at; the slower things are, the narrower the 'space' window you can hit perfects in is so the harder it is to read and hit things by sight. The more you space it out the more leniency you're getting, effectively

I can't read well on anything higher than 1.75. Unless it's like 120- BPM then it's a faster mod.

changing the speedmod does not change the chart, at all. you'll still have to hit the same number of notes in the same amount of patterns. it just changes how the chart is presented to you

rofl, I played 1.50 when I started, then 1.75 for about more than a year, then I switched to 2.0x during the summer and improved tremendously.

I switched from 1.5 to 1.75 before the 4th official tournament, ended up doing really well, and I've played 1.75 since. I've been thinking about transitioning to 2.0 to see if that will get me past the slump I've been in lately.

i looked at some of your replays, but it seems you dont play on 2.5 Oo
--- well, all people are different, some are better with speed mods, and some are better without speed mods. just test it out, try the speedmods, and if you think youre getting better, try the next faster speedmod. i play currently at 2.25x .. i tryd 2.5 but its at the moment a lil bit too fast for me ^^

I play 1.75, which is supposed to be C525, but because of the vertical dimension being so small, it's like C600 (my preferred speed). I know for a fact I am better than you, and I assure you I probably play less than you do. Higher speedmod =/= skill. Think of it like this: Your skill will deteriorate after a point.
