Re: Songs of the Week (Jul. 22, 2017)
Just what we need, a nearly 9 minute long rock melody.
I guess I shouldn't judge before I play it, but damn. Edit:// Damnit Should be ready for the end grace notes next time, but that was shitty at the end like that, it certainly catches you off guard. It's a short gliss, but it's stepped with 6 notes, doesn't feel right - 1,2,3,4 gliss seems more fitting to the sound Last edited by TheSaxRunner05; 07-22-2017 at 12:31 AM.. |

More nerves at the end of this than Breaka Railway, Progressive jikuu, Powerhaus, and I'm Getting Serious all combined

Re: Songs of the Week (Jul. 22, 2017)
lol was wondering when the impresario would be released
not entirely sober-atm difficulty thoughts: impresario massively underrated even without factoring in additional difficulty for length, it's sitting at an old scale 7 atm and it's most certainly at least a 9 (50+) given some of its polyrhythms and weird bursts + jacks (I believe the occasional handjack as well?) breaka railway is nowhere near FGO, certainly closer to 81ish (or even lower honestly) p.s. mike your accuracy absolutely blows on that for someone that got sub 400p on base hehu Last edited by One Winged Angel; 07-22-2017 at 01:22 AM.. |

Re: Songs of the Week (Jul. 22, 2017)
Breaka does feel overrated in difficulty, I'm pretty close to having it in my top 15 scores after 6-7 plays of it, 27-0-2-4 as of now

Re: Songs of the Week (Jul. 22, 2017)
Yeah I definitely don't think Breaka Railway and gorechestra should be two difficulty points apart - also BR's trills don't last long enough to be really physically demanding? At least compared to borderline FGOs
Also lol Impresario and base are super different files I don't play with Amazings on, I have no idea what accuracy I'm hitting until the end anyways

Re: Songs of the Week (Jul. 22, 2017)
Let's play "spot the Bmah spike"
In all seriousness, good files this week. I especially like Breaka because it's just on the edge of what I have the speed to do, so I feel if I have a good day, I can FC it in the 20g range. I do wish there would've been a cut on Impresario (probably 1K-1,500 note range could've been omitted) Edit:// Certainly handled it better this time Last edited by TheSaxRunner05; 07-22-2017 at 01:11 AM.. |

Re: Songs of the Week (Jul. 22, 2017)
yeah hi19 sent me impresario years ago and although it's certainly stepped well (as mostly everything of his is), it did feel like it just dragged on
i can understand why he wouldn't want to cut a song like that though, and for lower level players it's nice to have a marathon in this difficulty range...i can't remember the last time an 8+ minute file was added, nor can i even think of one offhand that isn't FMO+ |

Hi19 please tell me you have plans to like convert The Impresario to stepmania, because I'd love to get to play it. (Or if you already did, where the hell is it and how did I miss it.)
Byzantium was fun I can't imagine this not being fun even if it drags. |

Re: Songs of the Week (Jul. 22, 2017)
I'm not sorry. Song rules and would be heresy to cut it - nobody's forcing you to play it (terrible argument I know but stfu I like the song OKAY man)
Yes I will release for SM at some point probably with some holds added because it really needs them in places. Really haven't done any arrowgame stuff for a year now, been busy this summer

Re: Songs of the Week (Jul. 22, 2017)
As I have AAA'd all songs from 1-63, a measly 37 shouldn't be too bad, right?
Anyways, once I get some more focus, I'll go AAA Impresario.

Re: Songs of the Week (Jul. 22, 2017)
The difficulty of Breaka Railway has been adjusted from 84 to 80.

Re: Songs of the Week (Jul. 22, 2017)
Impresario needs a bump as well; while the vast majority of the file plays below 37, there are a few spots (mostly very early and late) that are above that, but the real factor is the length. I'm fine with the length because it's nice to see a long file that isn't grossly beyond my ability (plus <3 anything Final Fantasy), but the focus test nature alone bumps it significantly higher, especially since the harder bits late tend to catch one offguard given the gentleness outside of those sections.
I'd think at least a ten point adjustment is in order. I'm not sure I agree with OWA that 50+ is warranted (although I certainly defer to his expertise on matters of difficulty rating); I find most stuff in the 50-59 range to be substantially harder than the more challenging sections of Impresario (the most difficult part of the file for me happens in the first 20 seconds as well). All factors considered, I'd argue for 47-49, but I'm not exactly an expert so whatever. :P |

Also hype. Sucks you haven't been able to do stuff for a year though. Quote:
If we don't just bump it ten, I'd say 47 would be a pretty good fit. It kinda plays like a longer black wing metamorphosis by the looks of it. Last edited by XelNya; 07-23-2017 at 03:36 PM.. |

Re: Songs of the Week (Jul. 22, 2017)
I'd argue for 50 on the dot, certainly worthy of an otaku heavy unlock...saying it's not even worth that is an insult to the consistency required to pull off a AAA (and there are definitely a few sections that play well above a 7 on the old 1-13 scale)

The OH unlock argument is a really good point.
