Got myself a 970 dps 2 hander crossbow. Just started act 4 on hell. Although it is quite easy when you can crit everyone for 60k.

Keluak#1159, add me if you want but make sure you mention FFR in the invite.

Also, not going co-op until I beat normal but this way I can build up a huge group of people to do trades and shit~

You need to kite everything, mainly using stuns. Don't bother gearing for survivability at all, just stack damage and +crit damage. Can't say whether IAS is worth it, you'll have to look at the forums and stuff. Just shoot stuff with devouring arrows, have EA with skulls for emergency CC if stuff is getting close. Use smoke screen as you normally would: to break roots, snares, avoid incoming damage, and turning mobs around. Use caltrops to stun and slow and have preparation with either chance to not trigger cooldown or the 45 disc over 15 seconds rune (I prefer the latter but both are good).

Just whittle shit down like that. Drop caltrops, run back, shoot a little, drop caltrops, run back, shoot a little etc etc...

I dunno what to do with the last skill slot yet. Some people (me included) are using RoV with the stampede run but I find it extremely unreliable for CC so there might be a better alternative, perhaps EA with tentacles for extra damage against bosses or perhaps shadow power with gloom for those pesky damage reflect dudes.

You need LOTS of DPS as a DH. I'm in act 3, progressing slowly. The biggest hurdle to overcome is damage, really. I shouldn't have wasted a mil on a decent weapon shortly after game launch, it's more beneficial to save up and then buy a 1200+ DPS bow.

Would a bow or a 2 hand crossbow be better? It seems like the damage range on a bow is like 5-15 and then on a bow it would be 7-10.

So much damage comes from skills that do a percentage of weapon damage, so generally you want the highest listed base damage, rather than highest DPS.

So a low-damage high-speed weapon is often a LOT worse than a high-damage low-speed weapon, since basic attacks are only a small part of your damage.

Beat diablo on hell on my second try. Honestly my shadow hit harder than diablo and basically 1 shot me the first time. Oh well, time for inferno.

Yeah, bows have slightly more unreliable damage but with archery bow is probably the best DPS you'll find.

If you're gunning with sharpshooter, however, crossbows might be more favorable as the bonus crit damage modifier is really nice there. I prefer bows because they attack a bit faster, but the difference is minute so it doesn't matter much what you pick.

xbow + crit damage socket is the way to go on dh

every other class needs a good amount of as (monks for spirit regen/barbs running onhit life/wizzies for procs and because all their actual damage skills are unuseable in inferno/wd's running tridart and on-hit disables)

some classes need skill damage more than others but it's pretty stupid to neglect AS a whole because potential dps =/= effective dps

read: can't dps if ur dead l0l

I do have a legit question, can this be played offline? My internet is up and down and I kinda don't enjoy playing Rift anymore lol (maybe when 1.9 comes out).

For burst, yes, but not everyone runs with sharpshooter. You're better off using bows for CtW+caltrops builds etc. Though most people run with ss and just go for burst, so you're right.

By the way... the more I play this game, the more I think it's a piece of shit. I'm starting to think it's going to be better to wait a few months and see what they do with it.

Not everything is available via AH yet. If you're talking about these things such as not being able to buy gems it's intentional.
