White Sox HISTORY!
So....Mark Buehrle just threw a PERFECT GAME against the Rays today. First time in White Sox history since 1922...First time in the MLB since 2004.
I watched this take place guys, I couldn't believe my eyes. Discuss?

Holy **** I was skimming through that game today.
Holy *** Holy **** HOLY **** Mark Buehrle is a god among men. Deserves a Cy Young award. The thing is he's almost done it before too (2007? game against Rangers), but he walked Sammy Sosa screwing up the perfect game...but it was still only 27 batters. |

That catch was amazing! I only just caught the last two outs of the game, but it was still awesome though. He just caught that ball! Historic game...

Re: White Sox HISTORY!
I missed the game. But hey he did it against the rays, they had three, or four all-stars in the all-star game this year. Wowzers! I also have Mark Buehrle on my fantasy team

What does 'pitched a perfect game' mean?

Re: White Sox HISTORY!
It means the pitcher threw all 9 innings with out allowing a hit, and allowing a runner to reach base safely.

This is a perfect explanation. It is pretty rare and takes a LOT of talent with a little luck, but mostly talent. The fact that he managed to pull this off against a team with so many members in the all-stars game this year makes it even more amazing. It puts the rays to shame but looks hella good on Buehrle's record! |

Centerfield Catch:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qO2bGuGZpl0 the catch was nice. i would of had some much RAGGGEEE if it would of been a home run since it was the final inning. if i was the pitcher, i would of sucked him off in the locker room after the game as a thank you |

Re: White Sox HISTORY!
It was nicely done. One batter he had at 3-0 and then got two strikes & the batter ended up popping out. Two or three batters had line drives that were just at the Third Basemen's/Shortstop's head, a bit higher & it's a line drive single into the outfield. And then of course Dewayne Wise robbing that home run was amazing. Hah, I heard after the game Ozzie Guillen talking & he was saying how he had one of his pitchers warming up in the bullpen & I think he called him as soon as the ball left the hitter's bat (The one Dewayne Wise caught) and told him to get ready to head out because as soon as Mark Buehrle gave up a hit he was coming out of the game. It was well done, I mean you have to have some nice plays & things to go your way for a Perfect Game.
Oh & remember when Jonathan Sanchez threw the No-Hitter for San Francisco? Well, if Edgar Renteria didn't make an error on a ground ball, he would've also had a Perfect Game this year. :S Lol. |

Baseball is boring to watch IMO, but I still read about it in the paper all the time, and I saw the headline this morning.
I just didn't think it would be possible that anyone would ever throw a perfect game. Always comes up when least expected. Reminds me of a few years ago, when Kerry Wood came out of nowhere and had 20 strikeouts or something like that in one of his first games. |

Re: White Sox HISTORY!
Mark Buehrle isn't recognized enough. He's been a great, consistent pitcher for years, and if he keeps up, he's bound for the HOF (though he's mentioned that he might even be retiring soon...)
My friend was yelling at me after the top of the 2nd that Buehrle was going to throw a perfect game. ps i benched buehrle on my fantasy team |
