honestly, if you didn't see goty going to skyrim, then you're living in your own world rofl.
yep, I agree with everything on here. 2011 seemed like a pretty great year for gaming, hopefully next year will be even better.

Re: 2011 Video Game Award Results
only thing I can disagree with is the best song. Don't see what's so great about it.

Re: 2011 Video Game Award Results
I wasn't even paying attention to the VGAs; looking at the results of the VGAs though, I have no real quarrels with the results. I'm a Nintendo junkie at heart though, so seeing The Legend of Zelda get a Hall of Fame award is a thumbs up, and so are the other awards that various Nintendo titles received.
And, to be honest, Skyrim as GOTY is not big surprise. |

Re: 2011 Video Game Award Results
I just downloaded Bastion cause it was pretty cheap, along with the soundtrack
Hope I'm not disappoint by in-game music :P

Re: 2011 Video Game Award Results
I bought the CD from them and I have it in my car. It's a brilliant soundtrack by a single person.

The big one I'm like "you idiots" for is game of the year, because while Skyrim is a good game, it lacks the all essential multiplayer. Most people don't sit down and game for their own sake, even the Wii players (don't get me started) know that. Game of the year 2011 should have been Portal 2, AC Revelations or Gears 3. Like i said before though, I'm not saying Skyrim wasn't GOTY material; it just auto losses for not being able to play it with a buddy besides talking to them about it as you play. Even Runescape (yes I'm going there) was smart enough to make a multiplayer (P V P in wildy) possible. If anything Skyrim won GOTY because of all the hype, which makes that kinda a popularity contest. Re: 2011 Video Game Award Results
Frankly, this is because most 1-player games recently have been awful.
Sometimes the experience alone is worth it, and from the sounds of it Skyrim is one of those games. And LOL never heard of Bethesda? wut

Re: 2011 Video Game Award Results
I agree with Hi19 on this. I cannot stand the videogame stereotype that a game absolutely has to have multiplayer for it to be good. My entire childhood (and still now) has been based off of Single Player games. Do I play multiplayer games, yea I do, but overall they just don't appeal to me the way single player does.
The only thing I hate more than that stereotype, is when kids buy a game (Call of Duty, for example) and completely disregard the story and just go straight to multiplayer and ONLY PLAY MULTIPLAYER. It's great and all you have friends, but when they're not on, maybe you should take the time to play the part of the video game that you get so hyped up about in the commercials. /rage

Re: 2011 Video Game Award Results
Truth. The argument that Skyrim isn't GotY material since it has no multiplayer is a poor one. Frankly, The Elder Scrolls series in general is perfectly fine without multiplayer.

Re: 2011 Video Game Award Results
I flat out said it was GOTY material but it loses due to lack of multiplayer.
I enjoy single player games sometimes myself. But this is very rare. I grew up on the N64 and later which almost always had 2 people playable options. The only exception that comes to mind is Banjo and Kazooie and Pokemon snap. Edit; And the zelda games. |

Modern Warfare 3 for best shooter? Oh my god the industry is in trouble
In all fairness, I can't really recommend BF3 over MW3 because of Origin and Battlelog's combined bullshit, but that is still the most tragic award I have seen in a long time.

ROFL
Yeah most of these are so mainstream, I guess I agree to an extent, but people are stircrazy to vote for things like Skyrim and they forget alot of the good games that came out this year. :\ |

Re: 2011 Video Game Award Results
Middie, Gears 3 is ****ing horrible, I cannot see it as GOTY or best shooter, ever. I prefer Mass Effect as a shooter over Gears... but anyways...
Batman for GOTY imho, Skyrim was godawful on PC, the interface made me want to kill someone. I can't agree with Bethesda for studio of the year for that reason as well. They DO NOT know how to make decent game interfaces. It's just pathetic how bad it is. The gameplay was pretty legit, but oh god the interface... ugh. Also, the game is so obnoxiously buggy, there's so many ways to level up using bugs. Bastion won 3 awards, yay Best indie shoulda went to Bastion too though, Minecraft is more like a toy than a game. I can't call it a game, at all. Spike is just corporate as **** and shouldn't be hosting an awards show that's basically just time for a bunch of game trailers to be shown. It's just that this one is the only one televised, so a lot of people watch it. |
