Caprice for Violin in B minor Theme and Variations [10 or 11]
Just got the change to play this today, and was relatively surprised at the 11 rating. Despite the extended length of the song, it really doesn't provide much of a challenge, even at the peak where it offers a few quick (but short) one handed trills. It's very streamy, but carries little to no layering with the exception of the ending triples, which are just quarter notes.
Potential VC candidate? |

I am really good at one handed trills, so to me this has the feel of a VC. The length isn't too much of a worry considering that a lot of it is easy and semi-repetitive patterns. There doesn't seem to be too much difficulty in switching between the 12ths/16ths in the parts that offer this. I'd be happy to see this as a VC.

I'd prefer it stay at an 11. That ending is completely dependent on your trilling skills and even then some of the transitions can be messed up hilariously easy.
This is one of those K8107 cases where it honestly can go either way completely dependent on the skills of the person playing if you ask me. |

10, the trills are very short that even i can do them (I am literally the worst at trills), nothing hard about it, and pretty straightforward file

I would say 10. File is pretty straightforward since it demands nothing but concentration on the trills.

If K8107 was an 11 I'd have a double bf fmo score =P

By the precedent that Max Forever is an 8 rather than a 9, this should be a 10 rather than an 11. The trills aren't FMO worthy imo.

I was really surprised to see this as a FMO.
Always thought it was a mid VC. It would be a high VC if you weren't strong at trilling, but still not FMO-worthy.

Alright, now I don't feel so bad about making this thread anymore after me acting like an asshole on the Flight of the Bumblebee difficulty argument. I've really got to stop letting certain people get under my skin. <_<
Payon's Theme, anyone? :p |

I'm going with mid-high 10 too, can compare to Kanon-Kanon difficulty-wise.
The one handed trills alone are easily low/mid-FMO material (for me), but the rest of the file is so easy that I just can't justify the jump in difficulty. Last edited by Hakulyte; 05-6-2012 at 10:00 AM.. |

It's easily a 10. There isn't one hard part about this song. The trills aren't even fast enough for an FMO. Kyrie and MWv2 are FMO trills

Re: Caprice for Violin in B minor Theme and Variations [10 or 11]
FCed this as well, only my 13th FMO FC. It's really a high C if you take out the trills in the middle - that includes the 4th handstream (?), which while requires concentration, is not that bad if you're alert enough, as well as the little triplet patterns towards the end (the 123123[14]-like things), which are also very comparable to other high C stuff although they come in late in the song.
The main issue is the trills, which I really bombed at, but honestly - they're not difficult enough justify the FMO rating. How is Bus Rides With People easier than this? Or even stuff like Lawn Wake IV, for example. Since Jelly Roll Blues is a VC, I'd go with a mid-highish VC for this as well. (Although I'm not sure why I do a lot better with the trills in JRB than the ones here, tbh) Last edited by VisD; 05-6-2012 at 11:57 AM.. |

10. Any of the more quick portions only last a few seconds.

11 because I already color coded it in my rivalry thread and I would rather have 67 fmo aaa's then 66 because add 1 more 6 to 66 and you got yourselves a devil worshiper. Hows that for a terrible reason!

I thought Southern Cross was easier, I was able to AAA that and didn't even FC/SDG this song rofl. But then again it all depends on skillset.

I'd agree, but then again the trills still seem too slow to be FMO worthy, I'm fine with whatever way this goes. |

Also EDIT : Probably should bump Vertex and Southern Cross to FMO back but that's another story. |
