So I wanted to build a gaming laptop...
I was looking at building a really sick gaming laptop for ~2000 cad dollars
I want to be able to play LoL, and some other games on max, and do school work, PSP, etc. I went on ibuypower and this is what I had built I would Like some input on this please :) Or even suggest a different computer... It must have a 17inch+ screen. Case Valkyrie CZ-17 17.3" Full HD 1920x1080 LED-Backlit Display Laptop w/HDMI Port, E-SATA, USB 3.0, Illuminated Keyboard, Li-Ion Battery, Universal AC Power Adapter - Original Metallic black Processor Intel® Core™ i7-3740QM Mobile Processor (4x 2.7GHz/6MB L3 Cache) Memory 8GB [8GB x1] DDR3-1600 G.Skill Video Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M 4GB GDDR5 Video w/ NVIDIA Optimus [CZ-17] Primary Hard Drive 500 GB 7200rpm Serial-ATA Laptop Hybrid Hard Drive with 4GB SSD Data Hard Drive None Optical Drive 6X Blu-Ray-R/8x Dual Format DVD±R/±RW + 24x CD-R/RW Combo Drive [CZ-17] Flash Media Reader / Writer Built-in 4-in-1 Media Card Reader/Writer [Laptop] Sound Card HD Audio with THX TrueStudio Pro Network Card Killer E2200 Gaming Networking Internal Wireless Network Adapter Intel Wireless-N 2230 802.11 b/g/n 300Mbps Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.0 Combo Operating System Windows 8 + Office 2010 Trial [Free 60-Day !!!] - 64-bit USB Ports Built-in 2x USB 2.0 Ports + 3x USB 3.0 Port [Laptop] Video Camera Built-in 3.0 Mega Pixels Digital Web Video Camera With tax this comes to about 2000. Is there anything I should add/drop? Oh and what is the benefit of having a Solid State HD? I've been told its much better but just want to clarify why. EDIT: Oh and just to calrify spending less money is better so if you see something not needed by all means tell me :D

Sorry I did not contribute anything into what you're trying to do. I have more experience with desktops than laptops.

Re: So I wanted to build a gaming laptop...
Don't get a gaming laptop. (It is not worth the money, power cable requirements, and heat)
Get a portable, high battery life, laptop strictly for school so that you can't play your stupid LoL game when you should be doing work. Then get a gaming desktop for home, so you can play your kick ass LoL game when fuck homework. |

Re: So I wanted to build a gaming laptop...
Do some research on Asus. You can't go wrong with Asus. Just be careful when buying it, given your proximity to the fail that is bilingual keyboards.
I got an Asus U43JC in 2010, and it still has a 7 hour battery life if I stay away from media, down from 9. With constant media you get 3-4 hours. |

Re: So I wanted to build a gaming laptop...
I have my sisters ASUS that was bought in 2010 and it is completely broken. I hate it.

Re: So I wanted to build a gaming laptop...
Too expensive.
Don't spend over $1400 after tax. Take a look at this one. http://ca.asus.com/en/Notebooks/Supe...obility/U47VC/ |

Re: So I wanted to build a gaming laptop...
Definitely the better option.
One of my friends didn't listen to my advice, and demanded that he got a gaming laptop. He regrets getting it because he can't take it anywhere, it gets way too hot, and it doesn't run high requirements games. (Because it's a laptop) |
