Default I need a new computer.

And, since it'll be cheaper overall, I want to build it myself.

HOWEVER I know next to nothing about hardware. That's where FFR comes in (jousway ur gay).

My budget is around $1000 for the computer, I have a monitor in storage. I'll be buying the parts piece by piece. I'd like a quad core of course, 4gb+ of RAM, and a decent graphics card.

If anyone can help me out and build me a good pc, I'll paypal 'em $15. I offered Jousway the same but he's a lazy poopdick.

$1k can get you a damn fine machine especially if you don't need to get a monitor. Here's a build for consideration: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/kb9d

CPU: About the best bang/buck if you want Intel. Overclocks nice too.
Mobo: One of the best and the newest chipset.
Ram: Ram. Doesn't matter much. It's the same stuff I have.
HDD: I'm assuming you need one. If not you can take this and windows (?) out of the build, and put the funds toward either an i7-3770k CPU or a 7970 graphics card.
Case: Personal preference. The one I picked is the one I wish I had. Remember it's what you'll be looking at in the end. For brands choose from Corsair, Cooler Master, Fractal Design, Lian-Li or NZXT.
Power Supply: It's the same one I'm using in my machine. Leaves plenty of power to get another video card later on.

Here's a good video that goes over everything you'll need to know. All you need is a screwdriver.

Yeah this looks like it'd be a great build. Although a friend of mine said to get an i7 and an nvidia card (which makes sense for me, Rift doesn't like AMD cards for some strange reason).

I tweaked a bit and ended up about $200 over budget. This look good?

If you're going to dump in an extra $200, you'd probably get more for the money by getting a stronger video card. For nVidia think 670 or maybe 680 for AMD, 7970. Overclock the cpu and use an aftermarket cooler to get better performance without dumping $100+ on a higher level cpu.

My recommendation (may be a bit over budget depending on where you purchase these parts):

Mobo: Asus P8Z77-V
CPU: Either Sandy Bride i7-2600k or Ivy Bridge 3770k (for low power usage + after market CPU cooler the Ivy Bridge is good, however the Sandy Bridge chip is an overclocking beast).
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB 240-pin 1600MHz ram (they're only about $50)
GPU: For good upper mid range cards go with the nVidia GTX 660 Ti (EVGA GTX 660 Ti 3GB Superclocked+) ~$340. If you're willing to go farther up and dump $200 more as trumaestro said, go with the GTX 670 Superclocked by EVGA ~$440 or the GTX 680 4GB Superclocked+ ~$540. If you play intensive games, the 660 Ti is a great card and will run practically anything (Skyrim, Metro 2033, BF3, SC2) at max settings on 1080p resolution. The issue is that the 660Ti is effectively a 670 with one memory bandwidth bus cut off, yielding a measly 192-bit memory bus rather than the 256-bit located on the 670, 680 and 690. My warning with this is that TXAA and FXAA will suffer because of the memory bus, but as long as you keep it on 4x or 8x, you'll have 60fps on all your games. My recommendation is to go for a 670, however (if you can afford it; I currently have a 660 Ti.) Again, as long as your max resolution is 1080p, you will be okay. If playing at 1200p, 1400p, 1600p, it is probably in your best interest to look towards the higher 670+ cards.
PSU: My absolute favorite is the Corsair TX850W. Gives more than enough power for the CPU and GPU and will allow SOME leeway for overclocking (if you're into heavy overclocking or SLI in the near future, consider a 1kW PSU or greater). Also modular, which makes setup leaps and bounds easier.
CPU COOLER: Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus. With my Ivy Bridge 3770k it runs at 66F on idle and no more than 86F on load. Leaves ample room for overclocking. Only about $30. Be warned however, this heatsink is quite large and will need a large case to accompany it.
HDD: Western Digital 1GB Caviar Black or Seagate 2GB Barracuda (the Seagate one was on sale here in Memory Express [Canada only] for $99 -- which is absolutely ridiculous). If you can't find that Seagate on sale I will always recommend Western Digital's HDD's.
SDD (if enough): OCZ 128GB Vertex 4 Drive. Only about $130 and gives for ridiculous boot times. Pretty sure OCZ has a nice warranty that comes with the drive. Upgrading to 256GB and 512GB will yield a price of $230 and $330 respectively.

For minimalistic case designs, the Silencio 650 by Cooler Master is a good choice. For really interesting/designs with more "eye-candy", Antec, Coolermaster and Velocity have some good cases out there. Hope I could help.

EDIT: I also cannot stand AMD cards.

I was thinking about going with the case in the vid that trumaestro posted, it looks big and I really don't need anything flashy.

I don't think I'll be doing much overclocking, if any at all. I really don't know much about hardware right now, although that will change at some point within the next 4-6 months.

Since you aren't into the flashy case thing, I bought this one a few weeks ago:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811147161

Right now it's a Shell Shocker deal so it's like 65 bucks, but I think it's a pretty good case.
Comes with 3 fan, dust filters, fan controller at the top, mostly tooless design, decent airflow.

aaaand heres a video

Awesome, that case looks great.

I don't think I'll be going any higher than 1080p any time soon, as most of the games I play don't really need it (Skyrim and Rift come to mind).

For that Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus, is the case that sticklydude posted large enough? I'm assuming it is.

My case is far smaller than that Rosewill that sticklydude posted. Rosewill makes some fantastic stuff as well. I think that would be a good buy. The Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus should do nicely in that case.
