Buying a used Asus laptop, Want Opinion
It is an Asus G73JW, The guy said it is two years old, doesn't have warranty or anything
17.3'' 1080p (1920x1080) LED backlit · Intel i7-740QM(1.73GHz/2.95GHz Turbo) · NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M w/1.5GB GDDR5 · 8GB DDR3-1066 RAM(Max 16GB) · 500GB SATA 7200 - RPM hard drives · Atheros AR9285 802.11n Wi-Fi · Built-in Bluetooth 2.1+EDR · 8X DVD Super Multi optical drive · 2.0MP webcam, HDMI, SD card reader · Backlit keyboard and number pad · Windows 7 64-bit and MS Office 2011 The guy was selling it for 850 and said he'll accept 750. Not too sure how smart it is buying a 2 year old laptop?

Okay, I wasn't too sure... I've heard a lot of bad shit about buying used lappys. Been super hesitant on this because I don't know the history of the lappy. I just need a new laptop like literally today, as I Teraged on my other one and obliterated it to pieces.

Buying a used laptop doesn't have to be a bad experience, but it is always good to be cautious. If you are looking for a good deal, you can be easily swindled out of your money from an array of potential (and sometimes invisible) defects, including a weakened or non-existent battery life. Just remember that the laptop is being sold for a reason.

Laptops don't have the longevity of desktops. They are 2-5 years max before its better off getting a new laptop. Plus gaming laptops die even faster. Are you even going to game on a laptop?

I've bought a few used, always regretted it. Bought a decent Sager last year and it's still rocking away

Re: Buying a used Asus laptop, Want Opinion
the reason he's selling for $750 is due to the graphics card and the turbo boost on the cpu
you will never be able to get 2.95 ghz out of that processor unless you're living in an industrial meat freezer take that $750 and either get a new laptop or build a desktop |

Re: Buying a used Asus laptop, Want Opinion
Big powerful laptops tend to shit themselves faster than small simple ones, just FYI. Buying a used one is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. There will be something wrong with it, and it will likely completely die within a year or two of you buying it.
I've had two very expensive laptops, both with 17" screens, the first was an absolute nightmare, my current one is just a disappointment. |
