Default Data drive not recognized

So I setup a new system with an FX-8350, a Samsung SSD and a 1TB data drive. But there's a problem, Windows won't detect my data drive. When I go into Start > Computer, the only drive that shows up is my ssd boot drive, but when I go to Devices, it shows up. I don't know how to fix this, help?

From your post I'm assuming this drive doesn't have any data on it. If you have data on this hardrive you want to keep DO NOT DO WHAT I'M ABOUT TO TELL YOU.

I'm assuming you've just bought this hardrive and installed it into your computer. You also need to make a filesystem on it in order for it to be used. Do do this follow these steps:

1. Right click My Computer and go to 'Manage'

2. On the left pane click on Storage --> Disk Management.

3. Find your hardrive (or 'Disk') in the lower portion of the central task pane. There should be one large black strip, and probably say something like 'Unused'.

4. Right click it and go to 'New Simple Volume'

5. Keep pressing 'Next' perhaps only stopping to change your 'Drive Letter' and 'Volume Label'. It's just the name (eg. Storage, and C:\ for drive letter).

After that all should work. Post here if you ran into any problems.
