Post Your ArtWork and Advice (i'm learning to draw)
hey everyone, i have decided to make a thread to keep track of all my drawing, i am 20 years old and have never been able to draw a decent picture of anything, i have wanted to be able to draw since i was 7 and have never been able to so i am going to get into it properly and i am making this to keep track of my progress.
if anyone wants to share there own drawings then please add them to this thread aswell, i love seeing other people's work. make fun of my drawings if you want but i will not be discouraged to stop drawing until i get better. if anyone knows any good websites that teach you how to draw simple things then please post there here aswell. |

Re: Post Your ArtWork and Advice (i'm learning to draw)
deviantART.com is a good place to look at drawings + other art in general. I don't know any sites that teach you how to draw, but you could always learn off other artists' works and there's probably a handful of drawing tutorials online (google? :P). I also think it's good to start off by drawing 'simple' things. Maybe try drawing something in your house, a table for instance. Haha. Or if you're interested in a cartoon, try drawing the characters off that. That's pretty much how I started drawing.
I could (try to) give you better tips/advice after I see your drawings. Here's something I drew 5 years ago. My drawing skills aren't as good as they used to be. :'( |

Re: Post Your ArtWork and Advice (i'm learning to draw)
Ok now that you have that drawing of a lamb, I want you to draw it again, but this time spend 10 more minutes on it than you did last time. Add in as many details as you can in that time frame.
After you complete that, I'm going to ask you to draw the lamb once again, this time spend 25 minutes more than last time on it, adding in as many details as possible. Google photos of real lambs and check your drawing against it. Keep doing this and you'll end up with a photorealistic lamb, and you'll know how to draw way better. |

this was the first drawing i attepmted, i cant seem to get each line i draw the correct angle and i usually draw them too long, this mouse was supposed to be on the ledge and it's tail hanging down but i had to modify this one alot, i think it turned out ok for a first attempt though.

Don't follow the steps religiously or you wont improve. If it doesn't have more steps, make your own!

yea alright, i never thought of that, i was thinking to follow them to learn to get better at the basics, i cant see a image and draw it, i need steps to understand how the image is formed. but i will give adding extras a go and see how it goes, thanks.

Re: Post Your ArtWork and Advice (i'm learning to draw)
You have to learn to look at the subjects in a different manner. Right now you are viewing the elements as outlines only. Objects don't JUST exist as outlines. Try experimenting with drawing with NO outlines, just to test yourself. Solid patches. Try experimenting with the different visual aspects of something.
