ITG Cabinet Question (USB)
I just started playing ITG again this month in a semi-serious manner, something I've never done before. It used to be just playing a round or two then be done, but hacked machines give more incentive to keep playing. K, question is, how do I know if my USB stick will work? I just bought one before going today and the cabinet wouldn't read it. I know it's not a problem with the reader because my friend uses his. I returned it for a different one, but won't be able to check until next weekend. Is there anyway I can know for sure it will work?

Re: ITG Cabinet Question (USB)
I've heard rumors that if a USB has too much space (like 8/16gb) that it wont read it.

Re: ITG Cabinet Question (USB)
Copy the data over from your friends USB.
Hacked cabs with odd themes tend to be very finicky. So just change the information in the copied data to your liking (name etc.) and you should be all set. |

Re: ITG Cabinet Question (USB)
Eh, that might not work. I only know him from going to the arcade and not enough to ask him to borrow his USB.

Re: ITG Cabinet Question (USB)
That could work then. I still need to try this new USB first though; maybe it'll work without having to copy his data.

Re: ITG Cabinet Question (USB)
certain USB's work (i prefer attache 2gig USBs) and most of the time 2gig is like the limit. BUT you wouldn't really need more than 2gigs anyway

Re: ITG Cabinet Question (USB)
So are you saying mine won't work because it's passed 2gb, or that it will work but only make use of 2gb?

Looks like I'm taking a third trip to Office Max then.

Re: ITG Cabinet Question (USB)
4GB+ flashdrives tend to be more problematic on unmodified machines because of the file system, but I'm not sure why. This is something that was told to me.
This typically isn't the case on machines with OpenITG (I was able to boot a 100GB external on OITG, lmfao). Check to make sure that your card is formatted under FAT32, that's what my 2GB drive is. EDIT: ALSO - if you card has U3 Smart Technology for ANY reason, remove it and reformat. U3 will stop any USB from loading on a non-OITG machine iirc. |

Re: ITG Cabinet Question (USB)
The machine is a hacked machine, so are you saying it might possibly work at 8gb? I also checked, it is FAT32.
I probably would've bought a 2gb one because I didn't want to spend a lot of money, but the Office Max near me didn't carry anything less than 4.

Is the machine outright rejecting your drive (making the alarm/siren sound) or is it just not rejecting your songs? Do you know if your USBs are enabled/disabled? These are things to ask your arcade operator. |

Re: ITG Cabinet Question (USB)
1) It does display BPM and has rate mods, but I never used the rate mods so I don't know right now if it's OpenITG.
2) It rejected my first drive which was 4gb, but I haven't tried this 8gb drive yet. I didn't have songs on it; it was a brand new drive with nothing on it. 3) USBs are enabled.

Re: ITG Cabinet Question (USB)
You need the machine to recognize your USB first. if you put it in and instantly a red x comes up on the flashdrive then it isn't compatable. BUT if it reads for like a little bit doing the card check then gives the red x then that might be a different error. I would suggest to go by your local best by or staples and buy an attache 2gig USB or buy one online cause 2gigs are actually a little hard to find these days.

Re: ITG Cabinet Question (USB)
That was my problem, they actually didn't carry any 2gb drives. I put the drive in, then after it recognized I plugged in the drive it I got the X.
EDIT: Those attaches, wut. I can't find them at any store near me, Newegg doesn't have any, and Amazon carries the 2gb for $33.

Re: ITG Cabinet Question (USB)
Get a 2GB Sandisk Cruzer, reformat it the moment you get it, and then insert it in the machine. That's what I have, and it works on any machine that I plug it into, no questions asked. I got mine for $8.

Re: ITG Cabinet Question (USB)
Buy any 4gb Kingston drive. I have 3 different Kingston model flash drives on my keyring just for ITG, all of them work great.
