Xandertrax's Guide to Stepping
1. Pick your favorite classical song. Preferably one that has a lot of notes.
2. Either make a midi yourself (even though you don't have any quality midi software) or find some performance. Sync with ddream. 3. Follow PR as precisely as you can. To a T. Basically, beyond the point where you can't tell it's PR while you're playing unless you sit back and analyze the notes. Then it'll actually make sense. 4. Give the file out to lots of people to playtesting to test for awkward patterns, since apparently what feels 'normal' to you is awkward to 90% of the other players. 5. Change some arrows around, but remember the original PR. 6. Get files in-game. 7. Sit back and lol while everyone circlejerks about how awkward the files are, but continue to whore them because they want the AAA. And voila! Social experiment complete. People really will do something that they don't find fun if they think it'll increase their e-peen. Or real life status, to be honest. tl;dr—nobody understands my files. I think they're fun. Deal with it. Don't play them if you don't like it. Nobody's making you besides yourself. |

Re: Xandertrax's Guide to Stepping
if this is a response to my WWE score, sorry, it's mostly out of frustration/anger toward the community. I genuinely dislike a majority of your files, pretty much the only one I can even stand playing is Scythe of 13. Saying "deal with it; don't play them if you don't like them" is a stupid thing to say considering certain players are forced to play them to keep their ranks decent.

Re: Xandertrax's Guide to Stepping
Lots of notes...
Like this? or like this? PS: Yes I these are actually from a file I stepped. Edit: I hate all your files and think this is a waste of time. Even if they're technically correct, it doesn't mean it's a good file. Last edited by Xx{Midnight}xX; 11-3-2010 at 11:49 PM.. |

Re: Xandertrax's Guide to Stepping
nonono, lots of notes like this
I completely understand the concept of a hobby, I have plenty myself. Fortunately, none of them require me doing something repeatedly that I don't enjoy. But hobby≠obsession (or at least it shouldn't, not over a flash game, anyway). A hobby shouldn't make you rage. I guess competition spurs on the obsession, though. Quote:

Re: Xandertrax's Guide to Stepping
I never understood how "awkward patterns" were a solid, acceptable judgment for a keyboard file. I have trouble doing repeated patterns for an extended amount of measures, but someone else could probably do that no problem. Pad files are different (since they literally make you move in awkward positions), but keyboard?
I mean honestly, SHIFT THIS ARROW OVER A COLUMN SO YOU MAY ADHERE TO MY FUNDAMENTAL STEPMANIA LAWS AND I CAN JERK IT TO YOUR ART FILE
