Yeah, you really want the name to dominate the card

Re: Tass Needs A Business Card
Repasted since new page. I'm hesitant to put the avatar image on, for all the reasons everyone has stated, plus it would look awkward with this design.

A broken jpeg business card is definitely the best idea yet.

Re: Tass Needs A Business Card
I don't know if anyone will get what I'm trying to say, nor do I have any type of program/knowhow to make this happen. Not to mention this being late. But, my personal vision on what tass would like would have features like this:
Background: FFR Blues, from left to right going through a gradual brightening of color from deep sky blue to a soft Robin's egg blue in the middle then a slow fading out. Lettering: Black to make stick out, with a font that has a more italicized look, much like the letter of "ffr" on xandertrax's first idea. Placement: The name being large in the middle with his phone number directly underneath it in slightly smaller font size. Mostly because you want the easiest way to contact you to be the quickest thing a person will see on a business card. Here in lies a more unique factor, if both of Tass' jobs involve the websites he wants posted, I would say to have them listed underneath his name/phone number one in each corner with the job title on top and the website underneath. This would give the card holder a direct idea as to where to go to check out what he has done. I would recommend not putting your personal address on the card. If it is a business address you are using then place it underneath your phone number. Then put both emails across the top on one line with a defining space between the two. |

Re: Tass Needs A Business Card
Both jobs are internet based, and my avatar is a strong "logo" symbol of who i am. 1 being FFR and the other being my video walkthroughs on youtube. That's why i think the avatar is appropriate, although black and white might be the best option for it, in which case, the whole card should be black and white.
but. i don't really want the whole card to be black and white. *sigh*. i need to have this done and printed by mid-day on friday. meaning i need to get it to a printer ASAP. sorry that i can't have given you guys more time to work on it. and, sadly, i don't want to give all my info here, but this is the stuff you can work with: my name (which you have) email 1: tasselfoot@gmail.com email 2: mike.pollack@flashflashrevolution.com job 1: Flash Game Guru (i'm open to other suggestions for a better job title for the walkthroughs, but that name came straight from the owner of Armor Games, so it seems fitting) job 2: about 35 characters long, aprox ph #: you can fake it for now address: you can fake that too webpage 1: http://www.youtube.com/tasselfoot (goes with job 1) webpage 2: http://www.flashflashrevolution.com hm, i'd also like my AIM on there, along with the ph#. AIM: Tasselfoot if, with all the data, you can't fit the avatar on there, then it can be left off. i still would like it kept to 2-3 colors, if possible, to save a bit of cost and time on printing. and i would like the background to be the light FFR blue (i like the color, it's soothing). edit: after thinking about it, again, since it's all internet based... address might not be needed. and might be too much on the card.

Re: Tass Needs A Business Card
Just a couple of suggestions. I would suggest changing "Flash Game Guru" to "Flash Game Expert." Guru sounds very pompous to me. It might be true, but I'm trying to put your info into a perspective from the person you are handing it to. Secondly, I would only put one email address on the card. What's the point of having two if they're only going to write to one? I would personally stick to @flashflashrevolution.com since the people you are handing your business cards to will most likely find the email address to be a more business oriented address then a gmail account, especially since it uses your name and not an alias, not to mention it is directly related to a website you work for. Whatever title you are going to use for your coding/involvement on ffr, make sure that it is put either in front of or above your other job. You might not be able to take all the credit for the site, but this site I'm sure requires (or did at some point) more involvement and more advanced work of any kind then your videos currently do. Make sure your strongest level of skill is put above your others, basically. Again, I do not think your address needed on this card. AIM I guess is ok... it really depends on how professional of a look you are going for. If you are trying to make a serious, professional card I would say lose it. If you believe the job(s) you are applying for would look for something like that, then keep it. As far as colors go, I think the idea of having a blue background/base color for your card is actually a good one. It shows a little bit of character and will make your card stand out amongst most others. Go with black lettering though to make sure all of your info stands out. The way I would present it would in this order:

Re: Tass Needs A Business Card
rade: i already have business cards for FFR. these cards are meant to be geared towards the video job, which i'm trying to build still. which is why i want the video stuff to be listed first... yet i still want the FFR stuff there for credibility and easy of only needing 1 card to hand out. i also want to keep the emails separate between the jobs, again why the 2 emails. it's also quite possible that some contacts who would be getting these cards could wish to discuss business from both aspects of what i do.

Re: Tass Needs A Business Card
This is a shot in the dark. I've never given a formal business card a good look over.
Size may be off, though. I can't seem to upload pics here directly so I'm going to use another site and hope for the best. This was done with 3 different programs because I have no idea how to work Photoshop correctly. Photoshop, Paint, and Gimp were used. Hope this works or gets even close. I can edit things if you wish. Edit: Resizing the pictures now. Edit 2: Finally, got the right size. Last edited by Gigispackles; 03-17-2009 at 04:08 AM.. |

i suggest you download a business card template because you have the text at the very edges which means its most likely going to be cut off when the cards are being made also the avatar picture is hard for me to incorporate into the business card =/
