I felt the same way when I first played Sleep. Got a sightread of 30+ goods and a mess of avg/miss/boos... was pretty confident that I was screwed this round. Played it a few more times and now I'm down to hitting SDG's on almost every play-through. I guess it's just one of those songs you have to get the feel of. Personally, I think I could AAA this if the jumpstream sections weren't so damn long |

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament - Round 4!
One part of me feels like neglecting the D3R4 song because I hate it so much but the other part wants to pull off the AAA to keep my streak going, since I have the first 3 round perfected (only 1 other person still has perfect in D3)

I've got to say, i feel like this tournament has been good for placements. a few key people were moved early, and there hasn't been much drama about it. good stuff

Wait what the hell. Only 8 people AAA'd Oops but lots of people are capable of FCing Sleep with good PA? I'll be lucky to ever beat 98-16-9-51.

If you got this far into D5 you have a better score coming, I guarantee it. Maybe you just need some Sleep :P

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament - Round 4!
Well thanks for the encouragement, but I'm not so sure about that. The patterns that take up about 60% of the song just look ridiculous - I can't even come close to hitting them without mashing, much less PA them. If I could slow it down to about 80% of the speed and gradually work it up, I think I could do it. The problem is that my eyes just can't read those patterns with all the hands.

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament - Round 4!
I totally get what you're saying iceefudgesickle. What I recommend you to try is to not even bother analyzing the jumpstream patterns in great detail. Look more closely to the arrow receptors and literally just hit what you see. I mean this in a very ambiguous sense of "hitting groups of arrows as they approach you". You'll find that analyzing patterns in dense jumpstreams often creates a mental clutter that will slow you down from actually hitting them.

It's amazing how much easier this gets with just a tiny bit of familiarity. Guess I'm not in as bad shape as I thought.

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament - Round 4!
Haha, well I'll try to take that advice into practice. I think the main problem is that the patterns go on for so long. I can take it for about 5 seconds but then my mind becomes unable to keep up. If I'm just slightly off on one note, I get about 10 goods, 5 averages, and 20 boos getting back on track.

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament - Round 4!
When the patterns run for a long time, it's just a matter of practicing hitting what you see until you go on autopilot. But yeah, that takes practice.

Poor popsicle ;_;
i was so happy that round 4 started that i played the song right after waking up... and i'm sure you guys know how stiff you can be at that time of the day! Felt so depressed with my initial score of 45-5-3-10, thankfully i have now improved it to 6-0-0-2 it's definitely AAAble with a good run!

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament - Round 4!
at least 2-9 looks consistently difficult instead of having a long, easy ending.. nerves won't be as much of an issue now. i don't want another fucking weapon situation >.>
