I feel like I missed out growing up. Never smoked or did any type of drugs.

I'm a huge lamer.

Using a drug that impacts pretty much all major systems in the brain (and during development) no doubt impacts the brains behaviour of growth. And if regions of the brain associated with memory are supressed often in this time, their ability to grow is going to be diminished just like with alcohol.

Not comparing cannabis with alcohol but just using a comparative analogy. I'm not going to say that smoking weed will guarantee you develop into a different, lesser person-- but your chances of growing into optimal functionality are reduced.

You may have developed fine despite certain impairments at times, but that doesn't mean your consumption did not affect you. In fact it would have been impossible for it not to have affected your development, but it managed to not do it negatively.

It's best to reduce the risks while your brain is developing. But take all the risks you like-- just be mindful of the fact that everything you do affects who you are in some way have fun but remember to do what's best for you most of the time. It's an important lifestyle choice.

If you have preexisting conditions using weed to cope it will most certainly intensify those feelings as it amplifies your mood and senses.
However, it doesn't make you stupid or lazy.
I just worked in fine dining as a prep cook and prepped 50-100 lobster a night on top of cooking baked out of my damn mind but yet somehow still outshined my coworkers.
True, you can't defeat a chemical imbalance but even if I was severely depressed I would probably still smoke kush. At the very least I would use it as a tool to disassociate.
Yeah exercise is a helpful tool but you can't bust out a set from your bed at 1AM to curb the trauma of an episode or when you're out with family.
Everybody seems to immediately think 'weed bad' and tries to develop a holistic alternative but... it's already a plant.
I never said that people who smoke daily can't be on top of their shit, have jobs, or own businesses. I never said it would make you stupid or lazy. I'm not saying pot smokers can't function in society and never said anything even remotely like that. If you think I think "weed bad" then, just lol

I'm saying that it affects your brain when used on a long term basis. It affects everyone if they use long term, and it especially affects young people and people with mental illness. Not in any sort of debilitating way that prevents you from working or owning a business. In small, subtle ways that you will start to notice more and more as you get older. They may not be the worst side effects in the world but I would still rather not have to deal with them personally.

I've decided for myself that these side effects are worth it because I enjoy weed, and everyone else is free to decide that for themselves too. I'm sharing my experience to hopefully help a younger person make an informed choice. I don't think it's very responsible to tell people that smoking has no ill consequences at all.

I just started smoking regularly at 21, and I feel like there's a huge difference between me and the people I know who started smoking regularly as younger teens. I know it's not exactly scientific fact or anything, but the people I know aren't stupid... They're just missing a few extra brain cells. And I can't help but wonder if maybe they wouldn't have been better off if they weren't smoking daily in high school or earlier.

Most of these people are fully functional people (MOST, there are a few who've gone a little too far down the rabbit hole, but they have mostly gotten involved in harder drugs as well or are alcoholics or something else along those lines). You still can't help but wonder what would've happened had they not smoked so much pot as teens.

Similarly to mellonxcollie, i've decided that these side effects are worth it because of the benefits provided to me personally, but every person is different. I don't think it's necessarily a good idea at 14 to smoke daily though.

ehh, I don't think that weed is too bad from time to time, though smoking daily - it's not normal, I do not like the idea of taking any heavy drugs, this is scary.
