Re: graphics card help
so u want a gpu under $200? the current best deal is an hd 7950 if u wanna go with amd, u can find em on ebay for around $120-130. best budget deal for nvidia is prob a gtx 760. DO NOT buy the ones for $70 lol, they are chinese knock offs obviously. go on amazon, can find for $140 if you go zotac. if you want a newer card, go with a 950. not as much performance as a 760 though, so idk why you would do that.
edit: forgot, if you want a newer amd card, 380's are around $200.

Re: graphics card help
If you can find a GTX 960 for $200 or less get one of those. If not go with a R9 380. There are 960's on sale on Newegg right now. You could also wait until Cyber Monday and pick one up. I'm sure there will be some decent sales.
I also recommend upgrading to Windows 10 Last edited by Poison-; 11-27-2015 at 11:56 PM.. |

Re: graphics card help
I would recommend a 960 over a 950 but it's all up to the kind of games you plan on playing.

Re: graphics card help
emulators like ps2 and dreamcast and others and newish games if it can. also i use photoshop and FLstudios and others. my old pc could only handle any game pre 2005.

Re: graphics card help
Emulators are going to rely more heavily on your cpu than gpu. I would highly recommend getting at least an i5 at some point.
And if you plan on playing any newer games like Fallout 4, GTA 5, The Witcher 3 etc. I suggest the 960 Last edited by Poison-; 11-28-2015 at 12:25 AM.. |

Re: graphics card help
I did something similar with my first build as well. The best recommendation I can give for your future builds, as well as your gpu situation is to just save up and invest in good parts. GPUs usually have great price to performance ratios especially.

Re: graphics card help
R9 380 is relatively similar to a GTX 960 and a GTX 970 is a tier above them. It's a great card.
And yes your gpu will still work as long as it's compatible with your motherboard and is getting enough power. |

Re: graphics card help
the i3 you currently have shouldn't bottleneck performance too much with a 380 or a 960. again, either of those cards would be a good choice.
also, my brother says the 960 ti is coming out soon if you wanna wait for that. |

Re: graphics card help
I'd recommend only purchasing a Radeon if you cannot find something moderately better for roughly the same price in your price range.
If it helps at all, I just bought a new computer build (First bundle of parts costs $320) and the other parts that I'm missing from the bundle is another $120 but I'll throw in the items below to show you in case those are better. ULTRA XBLASTER MID-TOWER CASE V2 W/ 450W PSU Thermaltake Socket AM2, AM2+, AM3 CPU Cooler Fan KINGSTON 8GB 1866MHZ DDR3 DIMM HYPERX FURY RD Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 mATX MB AMD FX 4300 3.8GHZ 95W SOCKET AM3+ OEM NO FAN SEAGATE 1TB SERIAL ATA HD
