Re: Who influenced you on FFR and how?
Zyphoror for his Love Hurts 1.1 FC video, the video that got me interested in SM.
Staiain for pushing me back when i was d3. Wafles, rCaliber and Judge7Dredd for the SMO'ing we shared back when we were equals (both of them skillboosted into infinity and i got stuck lol). The times on SMO will forevs be in my heart <3333

Re: Who influenced you on FFR and how?
Pre-site crash, ninjafury. He gave me a few tips during my early days concerning playing and improving. Shash's prowess was like none other... He just dominated this game like it was nothing. (Gheez, I wonder how he'd do now if he was still active?)
More recently,...Squid, funnygurl, and preggers gave me some additional playing tips that I've utilized, especially with learning R^3. I'm also influenced by those in higher divisions than myself to do better at this game. Hopefully I can become good enough to move up and be their rival~

Re: Who influenced you on FFR and how?
Definitely Arch0wl and Hyrogashi. If Arch0wl hadn't constantly provided a source of criticism (or usually just straight up trashing) for my simfiles, I probably would have churned out a lot more trash. Also, back before 4 fingers became the standard they gave me the inspiration to try it, and in the end learn to play every play style.
Add in the fact I disliked Arch for a couple of years and you have most of my motivation for getting better too.

Re: Who influenced you on FFR and how?
Every D7 player at the time of my D4 nubcake-ness because I wanted to be like them
and Funny who I think showed me this game and told me to play it (hi fuNny) and Ultimega who helped me realize I should set goals (go for fc's and stuff) and Fantasticone who had me play super hard songs on streams which ended up helping me improve

Re: Who influenced you on FFR and how?
My biggest two motivators on FFR are CarrotCake94 and Kawaii025.
Without CarrotCake's NIA Rivalry, i would have not found a possible way to go beyond my difficulty boundaries. As for Kawaii, she was a definite rival for me when I was a D2 player.

Re: Who influenced you on FFR and how?
HammyMcSquirrel was my playing rival for the longest of times, so I'd say he's the one to influence me competitively. As for making simfiles, I don't really have anyone to look up to for influence - I just stepped my own way.

Re: Who influenced you on FFR and how?
About 7-8 years ago, in 2008, bmah convinced me to join FFR from darkSpyro, another kids forum for Spyro and shit. I joined and thought, "Hey, this is pretty fun", cuz I was actually interested in the rhythm scene.
I learned more about FFR, how to use Stepmania, the forum itself, made a ton of new friends, like whocares, Scylaax, MarioNintendo, and of course bmah himself who was there to guide me. Then at some point, I thought, "Hey, I should contribute somehow to the community", and began making some of my own sims. That was fine and all, but it felt so cliche. So I began acquiring permission for certain Japanese artists and whatnot. So yeah, that was the JAPAN movement that I'm still kinda involved with now. So yeah, if bmah hadn't introduced to FFR, I wouldn't know what I would have been doing with my life from 2008 to 2011. I guess in a way, FFR helped retain my sanity. P. S. Hi bmah. |

Re: Who influenced you on FFR and how?
But vibrating is about short bursty vertical finger movements, which would be ineffective at internal and external stimulation due to the light pressure applied when vibrating on a kb. Think about how much distance your fingers travel when vibrating, and compare that to the average length of a virginia.
If you want speed with your hands you should be doing motions parallel to the surface of the labia, primarily on the clitoris, and for that you'd be better off practicing the 'ol wax on wax off on your car really fast rather than trying to vibrate. Internal finger use is all about feeling for the g-spot (unless your girl likes fisting). So, vibrating on a keyboard won't have any noticeable effect on pleasuring a woman, if you want a vibrator just use a vibrator. |

Re: Who influenced you on FFR and how?
Wayyyy back in the day (early 2000's when DWI reigned supreme), probably BemaniRuler. His files were harder than the norm (although piss-easy now, mind you DDR was still in its relative infancy at the time), and this really helped set the pace for skill progression. I was also really influenced by his design skills (I'm sure nobody remembers his AIM profile nowadays, but it was a custom Flash thing that was really cool. It used the song Emotions by Trance [] Control, which later became the FFR Menu theme). His release of Pulse was also a pretty emotional moment.
Guys like Yasu and Take were fun to watch because they kept demolishing DDR and showing everyone what was possible, lol ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2l_9dYBLSDk anyone?). Seeing them dominate Legend Road was just beyond comprehension at the time (and it's still a goal of mine... lol. Sad, I know). JSB videos were great too -- this one in particular has always stuck with me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Df6wMkZIKmM Once the scene exploded a bit, probably Arch0wl and Reach (they were the big guns at the time, I wanna say early-mid 2000's?). I really miss that era because it was a period of rapid skill growth and interesting stepfile creation. Lots of great charts, a super active/vibrant community, and DDR was still hugely popular / in its prime. Nowadays, it seems like skill levels have risen to the point where clusterfucks of arrows fit to glitchcore music is the only way to provide serious difficulty anymore, but that's just my own cynical take on things. Mid 2000's... hmm, hard to say. Lots of great players. The advent of ITG made things really interesting, too (anyone remember https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHWwsX4yeAE ?). Other than that, I've always enjoyed watching guys like Dynam0, Staiain, Dossar, Halogen, Samurai, OWA, Smartdude, BahamutX, midare, samtorx, etc. Last edited by Reincarnate; 02-28-2015 at 12:49 PM.. |

Re: Who influenced you on FFR and how?
No one, i just stumbled across token-arcade.com (or something like that) and then got interested in the website.
I then found out that this has its own website, so I asked w/ parent's permission if I could have an account. He said yes, so then i played and played for hours on end, and i still can't stop going to the site! |

Re: Who influenced you on FFR and how?
silentoath (aka dr. ozi) was the one that got me to join and play ffr.
xiaounlimited and wtfbrandon inspired me to play and get better. I aspired to surpass them in skill for the longest time. wtfbrandon got me to start making simfiles. kommisar was the first major guy to notice my shitty simfiles and give me the motivational boost to keep pumping them out and refining techniques up until now. moches for being my simfile brotha from anotha motha. both of us transitioned from the awkward phase of being random nobodies to more recognizable figures for simfile making. and a billion other people influenced my overall simfile making ideology, but wv's list is fairly comprehensive and looks similar to mine, lol.

Re: Who influenced you on FFR and how?
2008ish Thaor, i never talked to him, and he stopped playing before i started, but when i saw his st.scarhand video i was very convinced he was the best player at that time. I wanted to get better than him. I had mad respect
After the site went down, that changed to Metzger mostly, me and him were rivals for like 2 years, and xayphon, hawke, and staiain were ahead of us but always played with us they're all such cool dudes! I remember marathoning nb3 before it came out with xayphon once, and then metzger again. Such stamina, very fun. This would all be like in 2010-2011 i think? 2012 I played FFR for a year just to play all the songs, I wanted to see where I ranked among all the other players, D6, not bad x) 2012-2015 League, WOW, played other games. Pretty much quit arrowsmash. But now that I'm back I want to get better than I was in 2011-2012

Re: Who influenced you on FFR and how?
like everyone else, theres plenty of people that motivate me on fiffer.
1. shurykan - always beat me in every tourney round ive faced him in. really inspired me to become better at the game to keep up with him :P 2. iwasasquidonce - same story as shurykan. i faced up against squid in the first tourney i did and he wrecked me lol. respect for both of them. 3. thunderflip - watching how quickly he improves is inspirational to me and should be to others as well. 4. candor - always impresses me with the kind of scores he can pull off. hope to see you in d7 one day 5. llyair - another one of my rivals that is always one step ahead of me. also motivates me to keep climbing :P 6. magnusus - really cool guy that helps me out and other people that are lower than him. huge shoutout for that, appreciate it man. |
