Re: TC_Halogen's High Speed Bracket Tournament
I'm gonna have to drop out of the tournament as well for multiple reasons aka won't ever be able to be on time or be at my top game and I've lost my will to compete on FFR lately. Goodluck to everyone else and hope this tournament still becomes a success.

Re: TC_Halogen's High Speed Bracket Tournament
hm~ whenever i run tournaments like this i usually go out of my way to show sympathy/emotions whenever a difficult decision (i.e. disqualification) has to be made. makes the person yr disqualifying feel a little less alienated about the whole thing; going about it in a formal way seems to be a quick way to make an already frustrated situation worse imo~ even an emoticon or somethin goes a long way ¯u¯;;
(especially if it involves credits/symbolic compensation for doin the thing, haha) Last edited by s1rnight; 01-26-2015 at 05:12 PM.. |

Same. I'm not going to do well, but it's a cool idea.

Re: TC_Halogen's High Speed Bracket Tournament
Depends how the brackets take into consideration people's skill level. Still probably gonna be a few monsters sweeping brackets though.

Re: TC_Halogen's High Speed Bracket Tournament
I'm still not sure how much I'm willing to do this anymore.
It's not just you guys and those dropping out; it's actually more that I've lost quite a bit of interest in FFR over the past week, and I'm also somewhat busy with classwork lately too. At the end of the day, I know I can return the donated credits back to the users and just hand out those who attempted the qualification (including Mahou/Rapta), but there seems to be a general interest in this concept. I'm really not excited to be doing this anymore, and I think that's a pretty big problem as a tournament host. If a host isn't interested in running their own event, it speaks volumes about how potentially bad the tournament has gotten to them. I'm definitely not confident about this concept and I'm not sure what to do. I'll send a private message out today inquiring about those who are still interested in the tournament and then figure out how I want to go about things. Qualifications will most likely be on Saturday, February 7th at 9 PM server time. However, I will give you guys things to do just to get more acclimation with the system and process of submitting (similar to the mock qualifier, I'll do some mock scheduling so that people get an idea of what they should be doing). |

Re: TC_Halogen's High Speed Bracket Tournament
Maybe this could work as a weekly league instead of a tournament?

Re: TC_Halogen's High Speed Bracket Tournament
I'm still interested, but if you don't feel that confident or hopeful of this becoming successful then don't go push yourself to do it. In the end some people probably still not going to post scores and such which will always happen. Same could happen to me with these essays and future speeches I'm preparing THOUGH I always try to get some score posted. Though I can see FFR has diminished over time, especially after that whole crash that lasted like a year of the site.
Really up to you of the fate of this tourney =u But, I would not be mad or upset and bitter if it did get cancelled.

Re: TC_Halogen's High Speed Bracket Tournament
So, I took the time over this weekend between schoolwork to really consider whether or not I want to do this.
For the first time since I've ever been a co-host or the host of a tournament, I have decided to opt out of doing this tournament idea. The sudden increase in drop out rate was actually not the biggest reason why; in fact, I am confident that there is still a sufficient group of people that would be able to participate in this. I simply don't have any interest in doing this anymore, and if I don't have interest committing to a time-intensive event, then it is safe to say that it is not going to turn out well. The idea seemed great in concept, but I don't think I could honestly commit to being on at random points through any given day of the week on schedule -- there's simply too much opportunity for error. I will be returning credits to those who donated, and I will be paying out the qualification prize as intended: 1 credit per perfect. If there are still credits remaining from my original stake of 250,000 credits, I will distribute them evenly to the rest of the users. Sorry for those who were looking forward to this; this is not the easiest thing for me to admit given that I've hosted/co-hosted a large number of events and this is the first time that I've backed out of hosting. |
