even though the average north korean (allegedly) doesn't know that the internet exists, they have a legitimate cyber warfare department that supposedly enlists thousands they could have gotten into amy pascal's e-mail account by guessing that her password was 123456, but the phrase "cyber warfare" scares the shit out of idiots so it's no surprise that this happened really i think this is an insult to islam because this move means that hollywood thinks juche is just as legitimate edit: i'm trying to find the death scene but the first youtube up got deleted after a surprising amount of time

But they're forgetting that it only takes one theater shooting to make this a tragedy. If even one person dies because of this stupid movie, is it worth it to release? The flip-side is that the movie is released and NK does something fucking stupid, then people still yell at Sony. Sony can't really win. |

Any evidence behind this supposedly existing? That's ridiculous if it exists.

a lot of news sites have been copy/pasting the same story about "unit 121" for weeks
i've traced part of it back to this: http://www.aljazeera.com/indepth/fea...543573839.html

NK may be backward but its leaders are hardly stupid, it's pretty obvious that cyberwarfare and terrorism is highly economical. High effect for comparatively little investment compared to traditional armies. Perfect for a country with low resources and - certainly, at least, the historical pedigree of - an intelligent and collectively-minded population.

Each of the branches of the armed forces have their own divisions too. And there's public records of this kind of activity going on since basically back to the Cold War, so we can only assume what kind of classified research and planning has been going on. Western governments aren't totally out of the loop, you gotta give us some credit haha

They didn't have much means of even connecting computers to the internet yet going into the Cold War, but it did start around there.
Interesting to be finding this out now though. The most I saw was like neighbourhood watch or NSA in comparison. Last edited by gold stinger; 12-18-2014 at 10:13 PM.. |

Re: The Sony Hack: Cancelled Release of "The Interview" on Dec.25
The U.S. actually has a fairly well-developed stance on cyber attacks. You can argue it's too late or we are behind the curve, but we're definitely not clueless.
For example, if the Sony hack is indeed revealed to be North Korean in origin, U.S. policies very clearly state that it can be taken as an act of war and responded to as such: "Hostile acts, it said, could include 'significant cyber attacks directed against the U.S. economy, government or military'" http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/...7AF02Y20111116

Goes to show how much I know about American Law.
http://time.com/3640419/sony-hack-no...a-white-house/ The White House is currently deciding a plan of countermeasure or counter"attack" right now. Whether that be a counterattack, denouncation, or straight up blocking out the hack, I have no idea. Last edited by gold stinger; 12-19-2014 at 05:57 AM.. |

From the desk of the FBI:

http://gizmodo.com/north-korea-wants...ate-1673566334 Literally a case of the stupid right now. I mean, why would you partner up with the suspect in a crime for the solving of their own crime? That's dumb. It just offers North Korea a chance to cover up their crimes so that when U.S.A. comes over to look they don't see shit. On top of that, they're making petty threats for if and when the U.S.A. does not comply like seriously... Why would I even come into your country to help fix your problems, when if I refuse, you make problems for me? North Korea is going to be a shit any way you put it. Literally just asking for a war at this point in time. Last edited by gold stinger; 12-20-2014 at 01:33 PM.. |

Alsoalso, there's talk from Sony representatives that the movie will not be released in theaters, but it WILL be released "on a different platform or medium".

Re: The Sony Hack: Cancelled Release of "The Interview" on Dec.25
I find it risky, I mean when you talk about the attacks on theaters nationwide in the beginning it seemed highly implausible. Granted as previously stated, it only takes one, but still it was implausible. Now that there's only one theater, as far as I know, the risk of an incident could be greatly elevated..especially considering how they are bragging about showing it.
They say there will be a hightened police presence in and around the theater, but still seems dangerous to me.

Re: The Sony Hack: Cancelled Release of "The Interview" on Dec.25
This movie is overwhelmingly dumb as shit and I expected nothing less and the amount of publicity it got out of this fiasco is probably far more than Sony wanted to spend in the first place. I would not have seen it otherwise (not that I was planning to pay for it anyway).
