Unhappy cant distinguish good from perfect

If I listen to the beat, and press the arrows, there's always a 25% that I will get "good" instead of perfect.

I tried looking at the arrows instead of following the beat, and it seemed to reduce non-perfect to 10%.

I can barely tell the difference. Is my brain broken?

maybe there's something wrong with your offset

What engine?

You're a rather new player, so you could just be unfamiliar with FFR's timing window. You only have 1/10 of a second to hit a perfect, and on both sides of that perfect window are goods.

right click the replay stats (1.7x, 0.7x, restarts etc.), look at the number in that right click menu there for accuracy, and set the judge offset to the number that isn't in [brackets].

Keep playing around with that setting until you find one that is the most comfortable. The more arrows you hit in a song, the more accurate that number will be based on your performance.

thanks man... I tried it out, and eventually came to the conclusion that 0.0 is basically as good as it gets.

on a positive note, I got 100% on that level 1 song, but it took at least 20-30 tries. I think there are like lvl 90 songs that pros still get 100%. I guess it's a skill that takes time to develop.

I have the same problem... I can FC up till lvl 70 quite consistently, with almost always less than 20 goods, but I always drop goods.. It's quite annoying even on lvl 20 songs that are longer than 2~ minutes I drop goods.

I think the remedy to this problem is to download stepmania.

Checked again, it is correct.

3.95 will do, but 5 shows best results

5 comes with some side effects tho

best way to adjust to FFR's timing windows is to play on SM's tighter timing windows. Seems like a valid option.

Pretty much this. If you've optimized your offset and other settings already then it just comes down to practice. Another thing could be how smooth the game is running though, what OS and browser are you using, have you tried using a standalone player? These are factors that can affect how the game runs and accuracy as a result.

Playing stepmania isn't required to improve accuracy in FFR, in fact it could work against you in the long run from being so used to the visuals/timing window in stepmania.

Yeah screen tearing can be an issue. If the game's visuals are stuttering or jumping, you are going to drop goods everywhere with no consistency. There are guides on the forum to help mediate that.

As for higher accuracy, I'd suggest attempting a lower scroll speed. I find that if I play on too high a speed my brain lags behind the notes the faster it is.

It seems to be when the icon is fully sunk into the slot(oddly how I envision it) for it to be counted as amazing. o_O

From what I've heard, he uses a new profile called Reincarnate now. He still logs in so you can always speak with him or view his recent posts if you would like.

Also, it took me weeks to score all perfects on Free Space. My advice is to stop worrying about accuracy and focus on hitting the notes for now. Accuracy will come with practice.

Welp, since people are still posting in this thread LordCarlos might have never returned to, I'll throw in my suggestions too. Raise your speed to 2.0x and higher than that after you get the hang of 2.0x (Getting mostly perfects), play on r^3 using the Standalone set up and practice more. The more you play the better your fingers obey. The more you try getting perfects the more you'll perfect. Going more than a few weeks without playing might decrease your accuracy.
