Re: one of my favorite videos on youtube
We're not here to discuss the differences between .wav and. ogg files, nor joke about them. We're here because youtube replaced the audio of an IDM song's music video with elevator music that's an minute too short.

This video was awesome, it's such a shame that they got rid of the audio that accompanies it. Oh well. |

Re: one of my favorite videos on youtube
I don't need FLAC quality to enjoy good music rofl, that's just being the musical equivalent of a high-brow connoisseur from Paris or something.

Re: one of my favorite videos on youtube
i have decent audio equipment and AJ is right. there is pretty much no discernible difference between a good variable or 320 kbps constant rip and flac. maybe there is a difference if i was to spend thousands, but with mid range equipment there isn't.

Re: one of my favorite videos on youtube
no there really isn't if you don't have really good equipment. my hearing is just fine as well, thank you very much. not going to argue this with you since this isn't the thread for it.

Re: one of my favorite videos on youtube
I'll just leave this to an everybody has their preference whether listening to shit through youtube or not because I do, do it occassionally when I don't feel like going through intense music listening sessions. HOWEVER to say that there isn't a discernable difference between the quality and soundstaging of Flac vs 320KBPS even in mid quality listening sounds so uninformed that it literally just baffles me.
Consider Mid quality Nuforce Amp/ Schiit Lyr Amp and Sennheiser HD650s (something around this region) Consider High Quality Most Woo Audio Amps/ More over 1000 dollar high end amps. Paired with Stax Sr009's, HD800s, or the LCD series. I will SAY however you probably won't notice the difference between 92khz vs 192khz and between 24bit and the very rare 32bit tracks. /end thread plz

Re: one of my favorite videos on youtube
Here's a spectrum analysis of a personal rip of my anubis zone of the enders soundtrack cd (flac vs 320):
Even though I don't have the highest tier equipment at all compared to what's out on the market, I can still hear a difference in richness compared to the 320 rip in certain parts of the song. I don't care much for the difference, it doesn't detract from my listening experience in any way since the difference is small to me (maybe because of my mid tier equipment making the difference less obvious than with top tier equipment), but to say there isn't one isn't true. If you have good equipment and can't hear a difference, you might actually have some hearing damage and that's not something I say in spite.
