Freak,

There are 2 seperate numbers because the system runs off of 2 seperate databases. One database for the main site and one for the forum. There are about 70,000 registered members for the game/site and when those people enter the forum, it automatically adds them to the forum database. Which really shows you that we need more people in the forum!
