I also purchased a new keyboard, a really great one, with flat keys too, but I can't slide on it like you'd expect from looking at it. It really is something you have to experiment with on your keyboard. It's possible your laptop keyboard might be more friendly for One-Handed play. It's the only reason I use my laptop keyboard now.
