Glad a thread like this exists.
The only place I don't agree is in PR, I know it makes sense in terms of reading music to have the notes on the right be related to pitch relevance (not to mention if you play GH enough you start doing this automatically) but I've found that it only needs to be locally pitch relevant or only sometimes pitch relevant. These are, however, just opinions.
Also, I don't think it needs to be pitch relevant to be a fun/good file. It's just harder to make one like this because you have to make it fun without using more solid guidelines. hi19's example was thermosphere, I think...
