As some of you might have noticed, I was working on
creating a new website with a Content Management System for a pack series I have that isn't related to FFR. My plan is to take that framework and transfer it over to a way that would apply to the Batch Submission System as an enhancement to the current Batch Search Engine.
Specifically, I'm breaking down the new Batch Search Engine Site into several steps, and development will probably take until around the middle of next week. I've asked PrawnSkunk about potentially integrating this site onto FFR, and that discussion will be revisited when I finish development.
My agenda is:
- Define the relevant Content Types (Songs and Batches)
- Create Song Listing Page
- Create Batch Listing Page
- Migrate existing Song Data over to a database
- Create Individual Song Page
- Create Individual Batch Page
- Create Accepted and Conditional Queue Page
- Manage Permissions
I'll try to post my progress in this thread every couple of days. I look forward to the New Year and what I can do to make the submission process smoother before heading back to university in mid January. Some of the benefits I see from this move toward a CMS are:
- Users can add their own song submissions without having to wait for a staff member to add it.
- Users can upload their file submissions instead of having to submit to the batch email, and also update song information as needed.
- Users can see how many file submissions they have for a certain batch period and how many transfers they have without having to do their own bookkeeping.
