Comparison is used loosely in that previous post -- the comparison implicitly happens by your overall performance on a pool of songs against other players who are in the same general skill level as you. You can more easily gauge player skill through a pool of songs that tests different skillsets, because you're more likely to find strengths and weaknesses at the same time if you create diversified pools of songs.

Again, this is all speculation. I like to brain-storm too, y'know. :P
