neither of those took more than a week to get started and after 2 in FL nothing was working and i wanted to eat 7 bananas

I wouldn't say you're wrong. Ableton confuses me a lot and I kinda gave up on it after, like, a few days (I'm pretty impatient).

But different DAWs, different workspaces. Some takes more time to learn than the others.
