Because less available RAM = lag
You know nothing about computers and therefore should not give computer advice.
But yeah I don't know an awful lot about Macs but it doesn't surprise me that it would be difficult to downgrade software on one since Apple tends to make their products more restrictive. There's probably a work around though if you google it.
