X8 has such an amazing soundtrack, the voice acting is like 500% better and they reverted to the formula of success. Plus the stages are challenging and the boss fights are reasonably difficult if you don't have the weakness.
THAT is how Megaman X was designed. You get an advantage if you have the boss' weakness but it's still not easy to get the win.
Lumine is the exception with her "Paradise Lost" technique. If you panic during that you're fuckin' toast
