That's because of all the music files and BGAs and BGVs it contains.

I'm not sure if this is the full version of MGD1 or not, but it's 800+MB in .rar, so it either is the full version of MGD1 or contains all the simfiles from MGD, MGD2 and MGD3. Just compressed:
