Default Re: Batch Review Thread v2.0

CONTINUATION OF JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2014 BATCH

Group 2

Razor
Arsonist [Standard] (Silvuh)
Score: 9/10 [+]

• 48.221 - PR can be better adjusted in this area. Lower sounds, yes?
Overall: Great file. Very fun to play, no real commentary needed.

Closer to the Core (Silvuh)
Score: 6/10 [+?]

• Great 32nd usage; liked that everything wasn't 1234 or 4321.
Could've filled in bg snare at 85.550 and similar areas.
• 86.922 - Why not also step this?
Wasn't fond of the doubled bpm areas and patterns such as 91.107, etc. are just weird to hit/don't flow well.
• Music wasn't very 'fitting' for the areas mentioned previously, and it sounds a lot like a bad DDR boss song.

Rainspark (Xelnya)
Score: 5/10 [?]

• 12.159, 19.838, etc. - PR can be better adjusted in these areas, and the ones following them.
• 42.276 - Why not add the 16th here?
• 51.955 - Can also move this to [3] and make the 8th following [4] so it makes a little bit more sense.
• 53.435 - The first 3 notes of this section, and the ones like it, repeat. i.e, 434, 323, etc. You can fix them accordingly.
• 65.914 through 67.833 - ????
• Chart could use some more work; lots of PR issues plague the entire first half of the song. Pattern choice is iffy and could've been better in terms of accentuating the melody properly; broken 16th triplets just doesn't cut it. Overall, the song [and chart] are repetitive as hell and could've used a cut/fade out right at 86.552.

Reality Hits You Hard Bro (mi40)
Score: PASS

Renzokuken (cedolad)
Score: 5/10 [?]

• 1.529 and similar - The coloring of these notes is unnecessary, just step them as 4ths? [see 61.050]
• 9.487 - PR could use work here, i.e: the 4th and 16th hands are completely different sounds. Apply to 24.487 as well.
• 32.339, 37.964, 39.839, etc. - Missed 16ths. Don't see why you step the snare in the bg earlier on, then completely ignore it starting at 37.9+
• 50.796 - Sound starts immediately after the 4th here, and the trill is 1 note too long; ends on a 16th. Also, this effectively looks and plays better as a roll. i.e, 12341234
• 56.362 - It's the same sound; try [1][1][1]?
• 58.940 - What does this hand even go to?
• 61.050 - Here's a perfect example of where you could've used proper coloring.
• 65.737 - See 50.796
• 66.440 - Missed 8th?
• Wasn't a lot of fun to play with all the noticeable errors; chart has really obvious mistakes and needs quite an improvement. I'm pretty sure you could've stepped one of Razihel's better songs.

Revenge of Mister Foxsky (Xiz)
Score: 6/10 [+?]

Please change the BPM of the chart to 110.00 and make your offset 0.129/0.130
• 39.663 - PR on 192nds is backwards. See also, 80.572 and similar areas.
• 45.947 - I'm not entirely fond of this section; feels much better as singles, and adding jumps to such a non-significant sound in the bg ruins the flow.
• 72.129 - Not sure why the pattern choice drastically changed to [2][2][2][2].
• 98.002 - Why no 24ths here? But at 102.104 they exist?
• 115.492 - Change to a hand.
• Overall: Decent play through, [and for once, an interesting dubstep song!] although a couple of errors here and there. I feel as if there's a ton of left hand bias in this chart; pattern usage could use some refining, and sync needs to be reworked.

Rise Up (rCaliberGX)
Score: 7.5/10 [+.]

• 62.741 - Could've also made these jumps as well.
Overall: The patterns used for the streams flowed nicely, [not aids-y thankfully] and I got a kick out of playing this chart. Layering is a bit tough to follow and is weird at times [i.e, the 12th drum not being jumps] Should be fun for the speed demons on here.

Session [Ghosts in the Machine Remix] (VisD)
Score: 6/10 [+?]

• 13.753, 16.202, 18.651, 23.549, etc - No jumps?
• 21.100, 25.998, etc - Jumps? Layering is inconsistent and you should stick to layering specific sounds at all times.
• 28.753 - In lieu running man, looks/plays better as a trill.
• 37.937, 41.610, apply to similar areas - Great attempt at trying to accentuate the static/distorted bg stuff here, but the 32nds are out of place and feel like ghost notes when playing; try using 192nds to accentuate the static/distorted sounds, (or maybe 64ths?) it'll look better and makes the player more aware of what's going on versus what you currently have.
• 76.355, 77.580, etc. - Why not just add the 16th here?
• 94.037 - Misrhythm, a bit late. Sound starts at 94.010.
Overall, spotty layering, song's a tad boring, and general errors here and there. Pitch relevancy can also use some work towards the end on the grace notes.

Since 1776 (Reikonkieri)
Score: 5/10 [?]

• 4.564 - Random minijack here, work on pattern concepts. ([2][2]; doesn't fit.)
• 14.342 - PR needs major work here, everything is mostly on the left/centered.
• 20.009 - Could've included the 16th here.
• 21.231 - I see copy/paste already; mix it up a bit.
• 27.787 - 16ths start here; missing notes.
• 35.231 - Would've liked to see this accentuated as a grace note vs. a hand.
• 35.787 - and similar sections like this one are just awkwardly layered; bass isn't that prominent to deserve jumps, this also applies to the jump jacks you have following this.
• 37.898 - and every area with this pattern section needs a fix; the [13] jumps change in pitch; does not account for relevancy.
• 58.787 - Missed jump.
• 74.787 - Should be shifted over to [1]
• 78.342 - Actually found this to be neatly stepped; nice!
• 87.231 - Lead riffs could've been accentuated differently; [i.e, highlighting the main chord vs. highlighting everything else] otherwise it's fine.
• 92.564 - Misrhythm galore here; notes need to be synced more carefully and relevancy is pretty off.
Chart repeats with the same errors; definitely needs a ton of work before being accepted.

Silent Wind (Silvuh)
Score: 8.5/10 [+]

• Cool swing file, song's a bit ehhh, either way, I was diggin' it all the way through. No real commentary necessary.

Slam Crunk (VisD)
Score: 5/10 [?]

• Longest intro ever, could've used a cut/fade in.
• The entire chart just has a bad layering scheme altogether; vocals are spotty, you go in and out of them during the 27-29s mark, and it becomes exaggerated to hell after 31.776
• The song is very tame/mild, so forcing a certain difficulty or trying to make it 'harder' for the sake of 'making it harder' whilst ignoring technical factors = bad.
• 69.275 - Not sure what you're trying to do here, but it makes zero sense and it's out of place compared to how the rest of the chart is structured.
• Overall, pattern choice was just poorly thought out, the beginning takes way too long to comes in (13 seconds!), song's bad and instead of spamming jumps on every thing you hear, experiment with minijacks (after the all the song is 95bpm). For repeated drum taps, [4][4][4][4] or [3][3][2][2] is much better and would improve the flow of the chart whilst layering in the vocals or something more relevant within those notes.

Specular Reflection (cedolad)
Score: PASS

Splinter (Xiz)
Score: 8/10 [+]

• 47.131 - Missing jump?
• Only problem I have with this -> starting at 149.887, the sounds you're layering here become inaudible and you still have jumps everywhere for the next 2 seconds when it comes back in at 151.304. Revise a bit?
• Looks good, very fun to play and you did Savant well.

Star (Wayward Vagabond)
Score: 8/10 [+]

• I feel like you could've made 90s+ a little bit more difficult. Such as making 91.273 and similar: 4/16/16 in sync with the 'fucking loud' part and continue as normal.
• Overall, I want to be your star.

Suck This (cedolad)
Score: 5/10 [?]

The layering scheme in this file forces a ton of minijacks that just don't really play well or fit with the music. This starts to be noticeable at around 48s and on. Pitch relevancy needs to be worked on in the later parts of the chart; it's still do-able with jumps intertwined so don't completely ignore it.
• 63.293, 64.271, etc. - Why the sudden/random 3 note jacks?
Overall, first point really covers a majority of what I wanted to go over.

Summer Colours Arch (VisD)
Score: 5/10 [?]

• 20.985 - Change to [34], for the sake of PR.
• 39.636, 41.215, etc. - Don't understand why these are runningmen; broken 16ths work just as well. Also, refrain from copy/paste -- at least mirror the patterns/turn them.
• 59.570 - This entire 16th area is just badly patterned; the jumps seem so random, going in and out and you could've at least tried to PR or add some sort of climax theory here.
• Rest of the file is pretty self explanatory, and the song choice is just, ehhh.......... could definitely also use improvements in the sections mentioned above.

Super Soaker (GammaBlaster)
Score: 4/10 [?]

• I believe I quit out at about 59 seconds into the file?
Layering is beyond exaggerated and unfitting for the type of song you're stepping here; not to mention, the 32nd patterns have a bad case of aids, [note: 327bpm 16ths] and are really unfun to hit. (See 32.293, 47.670, 48.952, etc. etc.) [please also note you're forcing minitrills in half of these]
• 63.963 - Don't know what to say about this part either, but definitely experiment with either spins, straight rolls or patterns that don't force minitrills at a fast bpm.
• 66.892 - Random 64th.
• 71.652 - See 2nd bullet.
• 78.242 - 16 note [1] anchor that you're forcing here which does not fit and/or match the song at all. See also 87s and 88.677.
• 89s+ - See 2nd bullet.
• 119.249 - Hands are exaggerated, quad is unnecessary.
• I could go on and on but this heavily reeks of copy/paste, awful pattern usage and inconsistent layering. Tone it down... a lot.

sylcymk's theme (VisD)
Score: 6.5/10 [+?]

• 25.364 - Jumps aren't necessary here; tone down to single note minijacks, or color them as single notes.
• 39.895 - This 24th section could be a wee bit cleaner (see: middle section after the jump) and PR could also use some work towards the ending half of this area.
• 50.207, .442, .676 - Random hands?
• Second half of the song basically repeats the first half, is also pretty boring and has nothing to offer outside of intermittent 24th runs. PR needs work across the file, otherwise pretty it's okay to play; needs a bit of touching up.

Terminator (M0nkeyz)
Score: 4/10 [?]

Sync is really off on this chart; offset and BPM need to be fixed.
• 10.385 - Hey! It's Nova Pulser all over again... On a more serious note, the PR in this area is completely backwards, and the minijacks you're forcing here with these patterns don't really fit the music in any shape or form. Definitely play around with other pattern concepts.
• 19.112 to 36.566 - Instead of stringing random 16th jumpstream together, I feel like you could've played around with the melody, try to accent it a bit, change the jump usage around.
• 36.567+ - Could've definitely accentuated the guitar here, it's a more prominent sound versus just placing notes to the bg bloop bloop bloop. (See also 40.931+ and similar areas.)
• 44.748 - This actually changes in pitch, from left [low pitch] to right [high pitch], adjust accordingly.
• 59.203 - Don't ignore sounds like these, when you've stepped things like 55.248 prior to this section. It's just not consistent.
• 61.930 - Could fiddle around with pattern usage here, minijacks would've been nice rather than a bland 1234 pattern.
• Rest of the chart is copy/paste after 79.657 and composes of the same errors mentioned above. The area with sped up notes is just something I'm not fond of and is a bit unnecessary; nevertheless, chart doesn't offer much and needs a massive rework.

Tetris (samurai7694)
Score: 7.5/10 [+.]

Let's play some Tetris, motherfucker.
• On a more serious note, this was pretty fun to play. I feel like the jack usage was a bit exaggerated during the solo and kinda ruined the flow for me [esp. 95-113s] and the riffs having jumps was a little ehhh... could use a bit of refinement and/or toning down]. Layering was cool and pretty self explanatory during the melodic areas (best melody ever, duh) and uh... that speed up tho.

The Big Black (klimtkiller)
Score: [!]

• Multiple difficulties found w/ holds. Try reading the OP again before submitting a file.
• Easy: 1 / Medium: 1 / Hard: 25 [which would never be accepted into the game.]

The Bird's Midair Heatstroke (samurai7694)
Score: 7.5/10 [+.]

• 46.170 - gross, plz get rid of that hand; [1][4][1] minitrill
• 48.090, 53.850 - pretty gay too, see first bullet
I feel like this file would've been great outside of the gross hands everywhere and some of the weird jack usage; just killin' the flow for me, otherwise, it's just good..

The Dream of Scarlet v2 (XelNya)
Score: 6.5/10 [+?]

Could've at least PR'd the first 10 seconds within your layering scheme to somewhat match the original.
• 18.331 - hand
• 19.231 and similar later section need work on PR. [first 5 notes are all on [1] and [2] the latter's second half is kind of all over the place]
• 22.931 - 8th, not a 12th.
• 26.581 - see 18.331
• 36.181 - see 18.331, you add the hand here at 37.381, lol.
• 55.456 - missing jump, missing hand 56.581 (rearrange patterns to keep consistency)
• 57.181 - missing jumps, listen to the crashes carefully, adding these also adds climax to the ending; kill 2 birds w/ 1 stone.
Plz get rid of that dumb quad; simplify to single note/jump.

Thunder Light (hi19hi19)
Score: 8.5/10 [+]

This file is going greatly annoy a lot of people, (jk ty based mirror) but outside of the LH shit, this was really fun! Killer relevancy on that solo towards the middle and just overall well done. It'll be a hard one, but I approve.

Upular (M0nkeyz)
Score: 5/10 [?]

• 29.053 - Not sure what made you decide to start dumping jumpstream from here on to 36s, but definitely a no. Subtract the 16th streams and mix up your pattern usage; keep it interesting. What you have now doesn't fit very well with the song.
A large portion of this chart is copy/paste with repeating patterns, albeit.. the second half is definitely more interesting once the vocal samples kick in.
• 126.313 and every part like this is a MISRHYTHM and does not follow with the vocal sampling; it's actually a 16th, then a 4th into an 8th; fix every single one before re-sending.
• Lots of potential for a great chart, although tons of errors but more so just poor decision making on pattern concepts. Could've also trimmed out portions of the song, it's a bit repetitive.

Video Out E (Gradiant)
Score: 6/10 [?]

• 12.084 - Missing jump.
• 15.111, 16.625, 17s, 18.8, 23.2 etc. - Pattern usage needs work; 218bpm minitrills everywhere.... - I would suggest keep your patterns straight; these flow terribly and feel like they were just placed mindlessly..
• 19.469 - could've added a 24th here
• 36.166, 44.836, etc. - I have a feeling you didn't bother to listen to this part and just added 16ths to compliment the previous section despite them differing in rhythm at the beginning.
• 55.111 - borderline inaudible/ghost note
• 74.561 - could use hand
• 90.937 - 24ths start here
• 121.762, etc. - these change pitch

Want You Gone (Xiz)
Score: 7.5/10 [+.]

Remove the jump from the end, pls.
Song choice could've been better, seems a bit repetitive, and your layering's a bit weird to follow during the percussion areas. I found the chorus to be accentuated nicely and it remained consistent throughout the file. Chart was okay to play, nothing exciting; not much to say. The pauses in the music sure do cause those 4ths to play like ghost notes, threw me off a bit, but it's all good.

You Goddamn Fish (Lamdadelta[/b]
Score: 5/10 [?]

• 23.337 - Missing jump.
• 28.115 - Missing jump.
• 42.319, 46.699 - Pitch relevancy needs a bit of work in this area, it's backwards half of the time and doesn't really make a lot of sense.
• 65.814 - See second point on PR.
Pattern diversity in this chart is lacking; a lot of the breaks are just stepped with [2][3][2][3] or [1][3][1][3] 16ths. During playthrough, I felt as if every break section was a trill with a jump intertwined here and there; there's literally nothing in this file that gives it any replay-ability. Not to mention, there's about 10 files for this song already [and one already accepted into FFR].

You Time (hi19hi19)
Score: 7.5/10 [+.]

• Some of these 32nds tho, like w0. [45.905, 48.322, 63.905 has some awkward stuff here, albeit the note placement of the other ones look generally fine and were ok to hit]
• 50.905 - Why not just step the actual rhythm leading up to the trill?
• Other areas of the chart were done well, no real commentary necessary.

Zephyros (iironiic)
Score: 7/10 [+.]

• 25.586, 77.086 - Why no 16th?
• 130.586, 135.919, etc. - Adding the 16th makes fit well with the song and what you're trying to do here; there's already a gap between the breaks naturally, it doesn't need another one.
• 207.502, similar parts - Why do you keep omitting 16ths like this?
• 214s+ - Ending of breakcore section could've been way more dramatic; feels really bland.
• Overall, fun to play melodic dnb song, although I would've just axed the second part or at least trim out parts. [seems c/p and we're borderlining 4 minutes of the same thing] I'm also not sure why a lot of 16ths were omitted in the busier parts of the song when they actually have something to go to, a lot of these empty spaces are noticeable, esp. during the climax and melodic areas w/ the piano coming in and out. I'd say just keep 'em in.

TC_Halogen
Arsonist [Standard] (Silvuh)
Rating: 8.5/10 -> [+]
- while the omission of certain jumps seems tasteful in certain spots, I feel like the jumps that do exist are a bit out of place (32.253, 32.464, 32.674 / 40.027, 40.237, 40.579) despite being used for accents only because there are other percussion instances that would merit jumps as well – I would consider using repeated taps in the earlier times so that the layering doesn’t seem a bit strange in those areas
- as usual, color switching seems quite tasteful and well executed
- 94.442: same note as earlier about the jump omission
- great file overall, just some minor qualms

Closer to the Core (Silvuh)
Rating: 7/10 -> [+.]
- 7.532: being that 7.166/7.349 are part of the same repeated bass drum, I feel like this should also be a repeated down arrow for the sake of continuity
- 10.276: you could also move this to a R for repeating bass drums since it still catches the active bass drum
- 36.434: missing note for guitar
- 69.544: jump stands out strangely to me since it’s just a lone prominent instrument (percussion and nothing else?)
- 94.788: a number of missing 16ths here
- 106.861: interesting to see that you use jumps interchanged with 16th streaming in the first instance but step it precisely here; if you’re looking to keep your difficulty a bit more leveled, I’d use the same patterning structure as you did in the first instance
- not really feeling the layering since it’s really precise between the number of played instruments at a given time
- certainly not one your most polished files, but with that being said, nothing that’s really bad or rejectable; could use some cleaning up overall

Rainspark (XelNya)
Rating: 4.5/10 -> [?]
- 0.640 to 2.560: your rhythm should be x-x- xx-x x-xx -xxx (you have a mis-rhythm at 1.960/2.080 – shift these both up 1/16 and then add a note at 2.200; also, feel free to add the note back at 2.080 if you want percussion included here)
- 2.560 to 4.480/4.480 to 6.399: ^, etc.
- 8.319 to 31.357: generally similar structure for each repeat; with how slow the song/patterns are, there’s certainly some room for deviation while still representing pitch appropriately
- 12.159: interesting concept, but if you listen closely, the bass actually doesn’t hold the same notes (starting at 12.159, notes 2 (12.399) and 6 (12.999) are higher than the others).
- 14.079: ^, notes 2 and 6 again, just like last time
- 19.838: ^
- 21.758: ^
- 27.517: ^
- 29.437: ^
- 31.357 to 37.116: why the sudden layering decrease?
- 39.036 to 65.914: this section is just really uninteresting and underwhelming, and you can do more to make it interesting – following the bass synth gives you some more 16ths (and even some light 64th swing, too) to play with, or following the percussion a bit more closely could help add a few more notes overall
- 73.833: there’s a little sweeping sound effect that comes just before this jump if you listen carefully, would be a nice interesting thing to add
- 75.273: remove jump, and make the step before this a jump
- 78.512: this jump is a bit early because there’s actually a bit of a swing in this particular instance
- 80.192: missing note, should be a jump with it being a bass drum, actually
- 81.512: same thing as 73.833 if you listen closely
- 82.832: missing jump for bass drum
- 83.672: if you’re going to accent this as jacks, you should likely use the same four jumps to really accent it nicely
- 87.032 to 113.909: very close in structure to the previous section just like this, with parts of the first two measures being very lightly changed and the jack repetitions being exactly the same
- 90.871: see 12.159/14.079
- 92.791: ^
- 98.551: ^
- 100.470: ^
- 106.230: ^
- 108.150: ^
- a lot of really careless mistakes in this file; it should take very little time to clean this up, but as is, certainly not queue-worthy

Reality Hits You Hard Bro (mi40)
Rating: 4/10 -> [?]
- 11.900: add a jump here, continue the pattern for the snares
- 12.050: give these hard synth accents some differentiation by making them triples
- 15.950: technically a missing note here
- 17.975: barely audible
- 19.100/19.550: make jumps
- 20.300: make jump
- 20.825: remove these notes, they hardly go to the vocals as is and it’s really odd to chart something like that
- 23.150: remove jump
- 26.300: add jump (etc, check your snares/bass drums with the most volume and accent them accordingly)
- 27.050: cutoff crash cymbal, add jump
- 33.350/33.800: wtf Ji, normally I tell you to remove jumps, now I’m telling you to add them; clean up your layering, it’s actually too light compared to what your structure should be
- 35.000/35.225: again, probably best to remove these lyrics since they really take away from what you’re charting (aggressive percussion)
- 36.800: remove jump
- 44.450: keep your accents consistent: make this a triple
- 44.600/45.050: missing notes
- 45.800: should probably be a jump
- 54.950: just make it a 32nd burst, this looks really off lol
- 58.550: make 32nds, not sure what separates this from the previous burst that has 16ths in it (alternatively, make them all 24ths)
- 57.650/58.100/61.250/61.700: inconsistent accenting (first instances has jumps)
- 65.750: make 32nd burst, no need for those 16ths mixed in with 24ths
- 66.200/66.650: missing notes
- 67.700: this jack is pretty unnecessary given that there are other instances of repeated percussion at this speed that don’t have jacks earlier on in the song
- 71.450: if this is a jump because there’s two instruments that fall there, then 71.150 should be a jump too (personally, I believe they should be removed unless you go back and add jumps at 68.450 and 71.150)
- 73.250/73.700/74.150/74.450/74.450: remove jumps; these are all one synth and just happen to be higher notes rather than a different sample
- 76.700: if you’re interested in adding jumps, add one here since there are two synths playing at the same time
- 80.450: see 73.250, etc.
- 87.650: ^, etc
- 94.850: ^, etc
- 96.800: remove this and 96.875, stick to the repeating triplets that you have
- 98.450/etc: what’s the point of the added jumps, and why are they changing in rhythm?
- 105.950: this is cute
- 118.925/119.075: missing steps
- 120.050: the flams are an interesting concept; quantize them to 32nds since the synth that you’re trying to accent with this rhythm is playing 32nd note riffs
- 122.150: ^
- 122.525/.600/.675: missing steps
- 123.200: missing jump
- 123.575: missing step
- 127.250: see 120.050
- 129.350: ^
- 130.775: see 123.575
- 132.950 to 146.450: etc, change the flams accordingly
- 146.600: nice copy paste! remove that triple completely
- 153.750: missing 24th for percussion
- 160.950: ^
- 161.525: missing note for percussion; change the 8th to a R and make the missing note a U so that there is a clear beginning to this pattern repetition
- 168.150: see 153.750
- 184.850 to 186.050: why are the 8ths missing here? It’s the same exact sound as before
- 190.250: see 120.050
- 197.750 to 226.250: see 120.050 and 132.950 to 146.450; apply accordingly
- 226.850/(etc): these white notes hardly seem necessary; just use your previous structure of triples rather than adding some unnecessary splitting
- 227.250: see 58.550; decide whether or not you want all of these bursts to be correct (32nd notes) or cut a bit as they are now (24ths)
- 234.985: make either 24ths or 32nds depending on your decision on how you want the bursts to be accented
- 235.285: don’t be lazy, sync this ending up
- file has many minor structural errors, some of which are noticeable at normal speed
- this file could be pretty awesome with polishing

Renzokuken (cedolad)
Rating: 5.5/10 -> [+?]
- 1.987 to 31.987: PR is an area of opportunity here; since everything is being accented as triples, it would be most visually appealing if you based your PR off of the triples themselves, rather than individual steps that form your triples (check 5.263/5.737 should be the same triple, but 5.737 should be lower in PR position than 6.440; 9.487 and 9.839 should be different triples with 9.839 being in higher PR positioning; etc – I’m sure you can fix this easily).
- 1.529/31.508: with these being jumps, the section from 31.987 to 39.487 feels underwhelming because you have a much stronger and pronounced snare getting very little precedence in your layering – it looks even more strange when it suddenly hits at 39.487 and pushes into a very quick buildup through 46.049
- 33.628/37.378/41.128: should be 16ths
- 35.385/39.135/42.885: missing 16ths for the really subtle sound that your 24ths are accenting
- 45.991: missing 32nd, likely intentional for the sake of transitioning, but the trill is a pretty reasonable difficulty spike that can be avoided using different patterns; you could a split-handed roll/spin-roll to differentiate from the snares while still keeping a relatively consistent build-up
- 46.518 to 76.987: since a good majority of this has jumps for the lead synth that is playing the melody regardless of layering, you can use this opportunity to make your chart look more correct visually by organizing your jumps in a more pitch relevant manner as opposed to potentially using individual taps of an otherwise cohesive sequence – it would make this section really stand out.
- 46.987: this looks strange as a triple while the crash cymbal at 47.456 is a jump – switch them around, possibly?
- 47.104: I’m all for generalizing rhythms, but this bass has pretty clearly defined rhythms (albeit, not the easiest to quantize)
- 50.268: accidental mini-jack, you should probably change your patterning a bit
- 50.854: this works a bit better than 47.104, but the sound cuts off noticeably earlier than the trill’s end point; I’d remove the note at 51.147, personally
- 52.846: this would look a bit better with the jump removed here and put at 52.964, since this note is somewhat cutoff by the low bass/synth instrument
- 57.768: another accidental mini-jack, just change the jump placement a bit
- 61.987 to 75.347: all notes in previous section apply here; also, in this section, a closed hi-hat actually appears – you could add a few more steps in between your layering to give the chart a slightly more moving flow
- 80.737: if this triple is supposed to be a triple because of the bass + bass drum + synth combination, then 82.612 should be a jump for the bass and bass drum hitting at the same time
- 91.987: that C/P shows a lot of laziness
- 97.612: ^, see triple at 95.737 for reference in this instance
- rhythms and layering are sensible for the most part; some PR issues can be resolved with some tweaking

Revenge of Mister Foxsky (Xiz)
Rating: 6/10 -> [+?]
- set offset to -0.027 for the note times; offset is noticeably off
- 11.040 to 19.767: it would have been pretty cool in my eyes if you incorporated the previous PR while adding the swing since you are repeating the same taps that are on the 4ths and 8ths, hardly a big deal, though
- 28.495 to 32.858: 24ths could be placed a bit better to follow the bass, since it is quite melodic
- 34.404: the snare is noticeably disjointed from the bass here; make this tap a single tap and add a single tap 1/48 from the jump (at 34.449)
- 37.495: triple seems a bit out of place since the previous one also catches a cymbal crash
- 40.995: missing tap for snare (a 48th before the jump at 41.040)
- 45.949 to 49.767: really not a fan of this -- the most prominent accent of this section, at 49.767, is only a jump, yet you have a ton of jumps catching the really subtle percussion building up to it; my personal recommendation would be to remove all of the jumps and keep a repeating triplet structure, changing it at 48.131 like you already have, still without jumps
- 50.313 to 67.767: was hoping for a bit of a structural change here given the new instrumental element, but the structure still remains relatively similar overall
- 76.495 to 109.222: while you do follow everything properly here, this area feels a bit overdone because you literally are trying to follow 5 different elements at once whenever possible without adding layering (hi-hat, clap, string accent, vocals, brass melody) – being that your base is the same hi-hat structure you had in the intro, you could afford to switch it up to avoid repetition
- 113.858/(etc): these jacks don’t complement the music at all; the faded bass falls on 32nd notes and those would certainly be uncomfortable as jacks at this speed
- 122.040/124.222: these notes also deserve some accenting too being a piece of the powerful bass, at least make them jumps
- 124.131: keep your relevance from before – switch the order of the D/R arrows
- 127.167/128.313: remove these triples and make them jumps
- really dig the intensity of the ending
- file is alright, but could use some work

Rise Up (rCaliberGX)
Rating: 6/10 -> [+?]
- overall, not really a fan of the structure; direct layering causes a lot of jumps to exist when there really doesn’t need to be that many for what you’re trying to follow overall
- pattern placement in the intro can use some work (8.421/8.549, 10.424/10.549, etc – what are these repeats for?)
- 24.049 to 28.049/(etc): patterning in these riffs seems really rigid to me, I know there’s no forced mini-jacks or the like, but it just feels strange, probably because a number of the streams feel have three-arrow patterns pretty frequently
- 36.049 to 44.049: jumps for every 4th note? I suppose the melody taking precedence with jumps here isn’t the worst thing, but the bass drum/snare drums stand out just as well; pitch relevance on the melody could help separate your patterning a bit more
- 39.049: the missing jumps in this sequence really stand out as strange to me
- 59.280: quite overemphasized given that jumps are formed in this area as a by-product of two instruments layering on top of each other
- 64.357: what causes this to be accented as jumps but not 66.434? (I understand that you are accenting offbeat notes in the second instance, but it’s to make a point.)
- 66.087: move this to a R for continuity in PR (you have three R repeats just after this which feels correct)
- 67.126 to 68.972: layering here looks strange, particularly the jumps at 67.357/68.280 (and the lack after?)
- 78.203 to 85.587: the layering here is a mess – the jumps following the background synth every three 8th notes are fine, but the switching back and forth between that and accenting the melody with straight 4th notes really makes this area feel really overlayered and somewhat confusing
- 94.818 to 101.675: again, just feels really rigid; it might be the way the jumps are laid out since there are a lot of split-handed jumps; this can be reworked a bit
- not a fan; the structure seems over-aggressive where it doesn’t need to be and the patterning in the areas where aggression is preferred is quite conservative and almost dull in patterning, however, the structure is passable as is…

Session [Ghost in the Machine Remix] (VisD)
Rating: 5/10 -> [+?]
- 11.304: change the jump at 10.998 and move the 11.304 off of the D arrow since the other Ds around it all represent bass drums
- 13.141: leaving this as is gives you BNS for about 10 seconds; if you double the BPM at 12.835 so that 13.141 lands on a 4th note (and do the same thing at 29.824 so that 29.978 lands on a 4th), it’ll look a bit better
- 13.447: see 11.304
- 17.120: again; move L arrow off since there’s two Ls following the bass drum
- 20.488: same thing – shift the D since you have two Ds following the bass drum, keep your structure clean
- 25.386: etc, see 20.488
- 25.485/27.069: missing notes (you followed these before)
- 28.753: minor qualm, but the structure of the scratches is in a set of 3 while your pattern accents in sets of two, listen closely
- 32.120: sound is hardly audible, remove this jump
- 34.875: with you accenting snares as jumps, this sound has a pretty prominent bass drum and the snare isn’t clear
- 37.937/(etc): 32nds are strange here; even though the distortion exists, it feels strange having a continuous burst since it’s just a single, time-stretched sample
- 39.620: interesting.
- 50.641/51.865/(etc): accenting non-prominent notes here makes it feel like there are some ghost notes
- 58.753: interestingly enough, these 32nds should be offset by 1/64 (should start at 58.791)
- 69.161 to 89.365: this is a pretty classic example of layering technique causing strange structures – you have 69.161/69.467 and 70.080/70.386 accenting very clear percussion, but 70.998 to 71.457/73.447 to 74.059/(etc) accenting jumps for a lighter song as a by-product of layering and instrumental cohesion, which makes your structure very unclear overall
- minor mistakes in detail, and somewhat more moderate mistakes in structure that need to be resolved overall
- in addition to this, the file is quite draggy because it has a lot of extended and constant low-speed streaming with little to no differentiation

Silent Wind (Silvuh)
Rating: 8.5/10 -> [+]
- really fond of the attention paid to bass instruments on the left hand and snare/claps on the right hands at the start
- only qualm is the somewhat sudden jumps at 49.299/49.753/50.132/etc
- great file, relevance is noticeable and the file just feels right

Since 1776 (ReikonKeiri)
Rating: 3.5/10 -> [?]
- the layering is highly inconsistent throughout the entire file, jumps are hardly clear in what they follow
- 3.676/5.564/6.009/9.120/(etc): patterning is noticeably poor compared to the ascending melody
- 4.564/12.120: accidental mini-jack
- 14.453: mini-jack?
- 21.453: ^
- 27.676: previous instance was four UL jumps and a ULR triple for a snare coinciding, this time it’s considerably weaker
- 36.453: I understand the usage of jumps here, but the guitar plays the same power chords/rhythms all the way up at 35.787, very inconsistent
- 42.898: ^
- 47.898: with how often you’ve been accenting the active snares/bass drums, these likely should be jumps too
- 51.453: jump is quite out of place
- 54.564/55.009: ^
- 58.342: should be 32nds from here to the end of the burst
- 64.120: this part doesn’t seem more pronounced than the previous parts, seeing jumps and a triple doesn’t quite work
- 71.231: ^
- 72.453: while I do appreciate that you’re trying to capture the vocal detail, the notes are so close together that it’s like practically forcing jumps; also, there should also be a vocal note at 72.898
- 73.009: definitely shouldn’t miss this cymbal crash, it’s a major accent to the next section
- 73.676 to 80.120: this section could be a lot better with more comprehendible jump usage; what exactly are you following with these particular jumps?
- 73.676/77.231: should be 24ths
- 81.009: should be 16ths if following drums; if following guitar, remove notes at 81.083/81.157
- 84.639/84.713: remove notes
- 87.231: for a solo, pitch relevance is something that really should be done as best as possible; this could use a lot of work
- 92.676: the rhythm does change at that point, but the rhythm you have isn’t correct
- 95.787: missing note
- 97.009 to 147.416: massive copy/paste from earlier section sans a few additions for relevant changes, not going to sit here and list all errors in this section when you couldn’t take the time to differentiate your chart for a massive section
- 151.120: missing note
- 151.898: should be 24ths
- 158.564: remove jump and move to 158.676
- 159.453: add jump
- 165.231: add jump
- 166.676: missing jump
- 175.231: incorrectly placed mini-jacks
- 175.453: remove jump and move it to 175.564
- chart really needs a lot of work structurally, rhythmically, and conceptually; far from ready for FFR

Slam Crunk (VisD)
Rating: 7.5/10 -> [+.]
- despite being correct, I can’t say that I am fond of polyrhythm at 23.651
- 25.838 to 31.776: these jumps seem quite forced despite being by-product of layering; just seems a bit aggressive
- 31.776 to 51.775: this however, feels really nice to me. The increase in layering makes a great climax for your chart and makes it a bit more memorable in a good way.
- 59.588/60.525: while there are two snares there, it would look a lot better if they’re each a single tap since the samples are really close together
- 76.307: correct, but quite out of place given the difficulty of the file
- 79.588/80.525: see 59.588
- overall, this file doesn’t feel too bad to me outside of the intro, just some minor kinks that need to fixed

Specular Reflection (cedolad)
Rating: 6.5/10 -> [+?]
- 18.297 to 25.293/(etc): I understand the layering, but it is a bit ambiguous since you selectively account for the guitar (when it’s most prominently accented)
- 25.293/26.126: remove triples, there’s only snares/toms here and there’s no need for over accenting
- 34.959/35.795: ^
- 36.957 to 48.285: rethink your layering in this section; it’s way over-aggressive and sometimes inconsistent because of the random shortages in layering at 41.444 and 46.783
- 48.285 to 52.114: layering can also be rethought here, especially considering there are some mini-jacks that are forced due to “correct” accenting with your structure; you might be better off with single taps for any percussion, doubles for cymbal crashes, and triples with cymbal crashes + guitar hits; it’ll lighten the layering while maintaining a solid structure
- 56.936: no flam here, remove the 32nd
- 73.856/79.348: these jumps are a bit strange (again, I understand that they accent the guitar but they seem out of place since the guitar accenting disappears prior to this for a moment)
- 74.944: remove 32nd
- 84.134/89.648 : add jump for crash
- 85.689: missing 32nd note flam
- 105.606 to 130.083: your layering gets a bit hard to follow here in the first half; sometimes the crashes/rides aren’t followed (106.262, 111.405), but other times there are steps where only the crashes exist (109.007, 114.160); also, this section drags on because the crash picks up pace, yet there’s still empty spots in the same areas
- 134.711: missing 32nd note flam
- file isn’t too bad, but could use some cleaning up
- effort in syncing is quite nice

Splinter (Xiz)
Rating: 7.5/10 -> [+.]
- offset set to -0.026 for notes
- there are some instances where the swing should be 3/64 instead of 1/24, take a look
- notes in the beginning could be synced a LITTLE bit tighter
- 91.450: move this to the 24th note at 91.489; seems a bit better this way
- 94.009/94.087: the triple should be on a 16th at 94.048; not sure what to do with the other tap – as it stands, that triple is delayed quite a bit
- 99.009: see 91.450 (apply same notes for respective times)
- 109.205: see 94.009
- 120.150: the jumps are good, but why the constant 16th streams? Unlike last time, there’s no really audible notes stemming outside of those accented synth hits
- 127.709: this is fine
- 142.827: this stream works well, but the jumps need to disappear for a bit to appropriately accommodate for the filtering of the synthesized instrument, since it practically disappears
- solid file

Star (Wayward Vagabond)
Rating: 8/10 -> [+]
- 30.023: syncopation to the melody doesn’t quite feel right; why not move 30.440, 32.107, 33.773 (etc) down 1/16 to follow the accented notes a bit better?
- very simple file; it gets the job done for a lower level file.

Suck This (cedolad)
Rating: 5/10 -> [+?]
- 0.467 to 7.423: there are some mini-jacks missing throughout this section as the higher notes repeat themselves in certain places (see: 1.880, 3.510, (etc) – if you’re trying to keep the mini-jack usage down, accent the higher notes with mini-jacks and keep the lower jacks more spread out)
- 1.445/3.184/4.923: missing notes
- 9.815/10.250/10.684: jumps for the snares are alright, but you’d likely have better accenting just following the guitar rather than arbitrarily giving snares prominence when they didn’t have it before
- 10.793: pitch bend on the guitar should be over here rather than at 10.902
- 11.119/11.771: really having a hard time trying to understand the jump structure here; it certainly doesn’t seem like direct layering because of the jumps at 11.445 and 12.097 – seems a bit overlayered
- 13.728: if you added a jump for the jump + guitar collision at 13.184, you should add a jump here too
- 17.423: mini-jack? there’s four snares here; a second set of mini-jacks or four jacks would be sensible here, but just having two here looks really strange
- 21.010: move to 21.047 (1/24 away from the next jump)
- 21.228: move to 21.264 (1/24 away from the next jump)
- 21.554: missing mini-jack for melody?
- 21.336 to 28.293: just feels really overlayered in general, honestly
- 28.293 to 47.749: one step shy of a direct copy paste (one step removed at 33.402)
- 49.162 to 55.250: a few mini-jacks missing again, this entire section could essentially be couplet mini-jack sequences
- 56.119 to 63.076: jump usage could be a bit better (56.554? 57.423? 59.163? etc)
- 56.119 to 63.076: your mini-jack accenting here is good, but it could be better by very clearly representing the PR without ambiguity – there are some jacks created by UR jumps that would technically break the repeated PR at 57.858, 59.597 and 61.336 – PR just breaks altogether at 61.010 with that left arrow, fix it!
- 62.750: missing note for the melody
- 63.293: repeats four notes, not three
- 67.858: keep that repeated DUR going all the way to 68.402, you’re building up to a sectional climax
- 75.032: remove note
- 79.815: add another 64th note here like you did at 79.598 to catch that second guitar wail
- 80.467 to 83.945: layering boost here is a bit unclear; what makes this second half more important than the first half?
- 83.945 to 97.424: hardly correct in terms of layering, but very cleverly conceived overall and serves as a great alternative to traditional layering/structure; I’d think about removing the jump at 87.098 and 94.054, but that’s about it for this section as a whole
- 90.413: remove note, add the note 1/48 after 90.467 (I recommend 1/48 since it isn’t an even interval compared to your 32nds which would fluently connect 16th notes and somewhat reduce the accenting of the guitar overall)
- 90.630: ^, add after 90.685
- 102.315: missing note, this is where the triple should be, so remove the triple you currently have and just add a single note in place of it
- 104.380: with you accenting all of the bass drums + guitars as jumps at 103.185, it makes very little sense to leave these as single taps
- 109.163: this and 109.272 looks like ghost notes because you opted out of accenting the drums earlier on in this phrase; either remove these notes or add the missing notes for the drums earlier on
- 113.511 to 153.837: copy-paste
- file structure is a bit convoluted in a few areas, rhythms could some slight tune-ups
- on another note, file is draggy because of literally direct copy-pasting

Summer Colours Arch (VisD)
Rating: 7/10 -> [+.]
- as a whole, chart seems to deviate quite a bit in difficulty
- 2.629 to 16.741: chart is offset to a blue note (technically you fix this later on, but there’s still > 14s of improper offset); also, cutting the BPM in half here would really add some separation between the two parts
- 18.517 to 24.044: improved PR could make this area stand out a bit
- 38.550/(etc): I hear the first two 16ths for the really quiet snare, but not this one (not a big deal though, because your seven-note patterns fit the song pretty nicely overall)
- 59.570: really like this patterning, particularly when the jumps come in because there’s an alternation between a same-note-playing brass instrument coming against a light percussion instrument and the jump patterning accommodates for them really well, but…
- 64.307: …if you switch this jump to a DU, it’ll be more appropriately representing the change in the brass instrument (otherwise, this part is pretty nicely done overall)
- 78.517: because your structure switches focus in a more direct way, you should probably just accent the main instrument you’re trying to follow so that there’s no ambiguity as to what other jumps follow (80.886 is a jump, but 81.281 isn’t? 84.088 isn’t a jump, but 84.439 is? If you’re following the bass, where’s the jump at 81.281 for the bass and snare?)
- chart isn’t too bad overall

Super Soaker (GammaBlaster)
Rating: 5/10 -> [+?]
- 2.819 to 11.789: with a part of the song that is practically atonal, you could afford to mix up your patterns more so there’s not a lot of repetition; these patterns are very uncomfortable and the layering structure is just so jammed that it doesn’t feel right
- 12.338: it would be a lot better if you just accented the higher notes of this rather than a boring 32nd roll or something unreasonably fast
- 33.574 to 43.094: this part of the chart is quite a bit more tame in terms of song intensity, lighten up your layering
- 63.963: 24ths are too slow here and certainly don’t feel correct for this particular accent; you could really put a strangely constructed pattern to accent the choppiness if you wanted
- 71.652: many ghost notes here; the melody is a bit higher but it’s not different structurally (the percussion disappears, but that was only your focus for the jumps, and not the separation itself)
- 74.581: way overaggressive given that there’s clearly still separation in the melody
- 76.778: another stream that’s pretty overly done because you’re choosing to accent barely audible percussion (77.785, 78.242, 78.425, etc)
- 79.707 to 89.959: see to 2.819 to 11.789
- 89.959 to 100.210: the color notes could use some improvement in sync
- 109.181: see 74.581
- 122.127: more color notes that could use some better sync
- chart is too harsh overall given the song; even so, structural improvements could certainly be made

sylcymk’s Theme (VisD)
Rating: 6/10 -> [+?]
- 17.864: jumps are hardly necessary here as the sound itself is pretty largely faded
- 25.364: ^
- 39.895: with a really heavily accented melody coming in here, add some pitch relevance to make the patterning feel a bit better (add the jumps after your patterning is established and manipulate as needed)
- 50.207: the concept of building up isn’t a bad idea, but having these triples come before a really well pronounced cymbal crash charted as a triple itself somewhat defeats the purpose of building up an accent; you should really look into removing these triples
- 73.176 (etc): these patterns are pretty nasty looking thanks to differentiating rhythms
- as a whole, this chart -really- badly drags, and it looks somewhat overlayered due to non-prominent instruments being accented with jumps; the rhythms are very solid given how complex the song is, but the PR and layering have noticeable issues

- 3.597: with how slow the song is, you could afford to make these mini-jacks (this will help to separate the snares from the melody in terms of relevance)
- 5.779: ^, don’t make the 32nds a jack though
- 7.961/10.142: ^
- 10.415 to 14.642: mini-jacks are not appropriate; where’s the jumps for snares according to the previous sections? Why did your layering decrease suddenly?
- 15.870 to 18.051: make your pattern changes clean with the melody; you got the first two sequences correct, but having a D-L at the end of the second scale here makes it seem like the melody change is delayed
- 19.142: your chart would look quite a bit better with a BPM double here
- 19.142 to 36.597: very boring/generic structure; you could do better following the melody and not just generalizing 16th streaming (or the jumps for the snares considering the 32nds)
- 36.597 to 42.597: there’s a nice guitar here that just gets ignored here
- 44.506: missing jump (I initially passed it off, but you catch a snare at 49.551)
- 46.824: if the vocals are being followed (as I suspect with the gap at 46.006), then this is a ghost note
- 47.370/47.642/47.915/48.188: what’s with the extra notes? Why are they followed suddenly?
- 49.006: you could likely manipulate the earlier pattern so you don’t have to change this note to prep for the upcoming burst; with the repeating lyric sample, you would want that repeating alternation that you have
- 50.370/51.188/51.461/(etc): ghost notes
- 52.688: like the first instance, you should have some repeating trills here to better accent the vocal sample
- 58.483: if you’re trying to catch the vocal, this needs to be shifted down 1/64
- 60.392/60.529: missing notes
- 62.642: make this a jump for the snare
- 64.961: jacks could be nice here for repeated vocals
- 65.779: with your previous structure, you likely could have some sort of burst here
- 66.256/66.529/66.665: missing notes
- 67.688: remove note
- 68.097: missing note
- 69.461/69.870/70.551/70.961: more missing notes
- 73.415/(etc): see 3.597
- 80.233 to 84.597: see 10.415
- 84.597: this 32nd pattern is very out of place
- 85.142 to 88.961: generally, patterning isn’t reflective of the melody
- 88.415: missing note
- 88.961 to 105.597: see 19.142
- 108.461: mini-jack?
- 110.370: having this jump here is a bit strange because there is a snare roll running right through this
- 112.142: jump stands out as erroneous since the drum breaks otherwise don’t use jumps
- 115.142 to 123.870: while the patterning of the stream isn’t great, I do like your concept of increasing BPM; it works nicely here
- 124.961: lots of missing notes
- 126.051: jumps are a bit strange because previous areas actually have more than two vocal samples, yet are represented by a jump and a gap of 3/16
- 127.142: more missing notes for unaccounted samples
- 129.733: this jump is for a snare, yet the next five taps are also for snares and they are single taps
- 137.506: more notes that could be used for a different feel thanks to the guitar playing there
- 143.506: with this being the end of the song and you not having done this, I very highly recommend that you remove the jacks
- 146.779: BPM doubling here makes no sense at all
- chart needs quite a bit of work

Tetris (samurai7694)
Rating: 8/10 -> [+]
- 24.811 to 36.423: I feel like your PR gets a bit lost here with the layering
- 46.611: snares could be a bit more finely quantized here
- 54.611 to 56.792: in situations like this where the jumps are really heavy and follow a melodic element, you could do better with ordering the jumps themselves in pitch relevance since it’s likely that a player isn’t going to notice the extreme detail between the taps themselves (it seems like you tried having some pitch relevance through the background guitar looking near the end of the stream at 56.792)
- 89.883/95.694: this made me laugh so hard, haha
- 128.096 to 139.696: see 24.811
- 151.400: and we conclude with a nerve-wracking climax, nice
- very much a fan of the PR schematic at the end, but I do wish it was possible to give separation to repeated notes somehow…
- solid file! A bit convoluted in some areas, but not enough to detract the playability

The Big Black (klimtkiller)
Rating: 0/10 -> [!]
- multiple difficulties, one of which has freezes, the other two of which appear to be incomplete

The Bird’s Midair Heatstroke (samurai7694)
Rating: 8/10 -> [+]
- cut could use a fade, since it starts rather abruptly and is quite a bit into the song; it doesn’t sound like it’s the start point at all
- sync needs some slight work, T11 wasn’t very forgiving in his sampling and there are a bunch of sampling situations that cause sync drift
- I won’t provide an alternative offset for note-checking, but I highly suggest you give this file a run on DDream and adjust certain beats manually
- nearly all of the notes I’m providing are extremely minor and hardly serve as deductions towards this file since I am willing to bet that no one will pick up on these at 1.0 rate
- 30.390: missing note
- 31.770: check rhythms; it should be a bit tighter
- 37.530: ew
- 44.810/44.890: mis-rhythm as these two should be 32nds coming before the 8th at 44.970
- 47.130: see 31.770
- 61.650: missing note
- 62.490: another instance of tighter rhythms necessary
- 68.350: this burst is a bit over the top given that it follows something relatively soft
- 81.300: really smart usage of bursts in it; even though it has a jump inside of the burst, it’s very easy to hit thanks to FFR’s frame based nature
- 82.170: the volume of this sample actually changes every set of 4, so you might want to look into switching this jack to up arrows and craft the burst around that
- 87.309: ghost note
- 87.850: should be 1/32 away from the jump
- 88.290: should be 1/24 away from the jump
- 89.850: listen carefully to percussion for a few more notes that can be added
- 91.470: missing note
- 92.490: probably should be a jump
- 105.990/106.050/106.110: can’t hear what these notes go to
- as a whole, take a look at your jump usage and just make sure that it’s fully consistent, it seems alright overall but there were a few questionable cases
- this file is rough, holy hell – the DF one was hard, but this one certainly looks like it exceeds that

The Dream of Scarlet v2 (XelNya)
Rating: 5/10 -> [+? / <]
- 1.681/2.356: ghost note
- 7.531/9.781/12.181: why is there such a long anchor? The guitar doesn’t play all the through and having it follow the hi-hats would (be very bad) mean that you would have to have long sets of jacks
- 7.531 to 16.531: better pitch relevance would help this section a bit
- 16.531: jumptrill here doesn’t look nice compared to the accenting you’re getting here; accent only the snares for a better appearance/effect
- 23.206: missing note for percussion
- 23.731/23.881/26.731: missing notes
- 26.581: triple for crash?
- 28.531: missing note
- 29.131: if you were trying to accent the descending parts of the melody with RDU, it’s poor pattern structure, because even if that was the intention, you still have a more noticeably repeating LDU that looks considerably more incorrect
- 33.331: missing note for percussion
- 36.181: should be a triple for accent?
- 38.731 to 48.331: structure is a bit inconsistent; if you have the jumps following the melodic guitar, then there are a number of jumps missing (they might be intentionally omitted, but this creates a layering inconsistency that is very noticeable visually); if you have jumps following that subtle synth accent, you’re missing a number of them throughout this section
- not very strong of a file; even with more current layering structuring and slightly better rhythm usage, I don’t feel like this file is strong enough to be a v2 complement to the first version

Thunder Light (hi19hi19)
Rating: 8/10 -> [+]
- please change some of the left handed trills to right handed ones so that people can’t mirror because they stink at a particular hand
- 65.677: change the pattern before this so you can move the jump off of D/R, it’s the most glaring PR error in the chart
- 71.675: here too, if possible
- 109.070: move this to a L; the repeating DURDUR makes it seem like there’s something special to accent when it’s simply a patterning deviation
- 152.275: not quite
- a little draggy to me, but probably not to players who will have to fight to sustain some of those patterns
- really mean gimmick behind this file, but I’m a fan! Consider my first note.

Upular (M0nkeyz)
Rating: 4/10 -> [?]
- very little to say about this file other than the fact that it is very stale; the first major jumpstream is out of place given that nothing legitimately changes in the song structurally, and a lot of the patterning is extremely repetitive; the 16th note triplets that you are generalized in the song and it feels horribly draggy because the song is very low key – you’re trying to do a bit too much to a song that simply doesn’t need a lot of difficulty, and the chart is massively suffering from it. Consider rethinking the structure of your chart.
- cut the song; it’s very very repetitive
- take a look at the vocal rhythms, they certainly can be redone for accuracy

Video Out E (Gradiant)
Rating: 6.5/10 -> [+?]
- 12.910 to 30.524/(etc): your jump structure is technically correct, but the mix of jump usage between prominent percussion and less prominent synth-guitar instrumentation really makes this section feel over-aggressive; this could use a nice tone down – assess this later in the file as well
- 31.900/(etc): not a bad idea, but it feels ghosted because it doesn’t reasonably differentiate between the percussion since it also uses 16ths
- 37.680: this jump seems a bit out of place
- 88.872: remove jump
- 90.937: your 24th note flourish should start here
- patterns near the end get very repetitive; not quite copy-paste, but reasonably close as they’re not even mirrored – a majority of what is followed here is freeform, so there’s no excuse to not differentiate patterning on main points of accenting
- structure is acceptable overall, although the first 30 seconds leave something to be desired

Want You Gone (Xiz)
Rating: 7.5/10 -> [+.]
- 16.868, 19.268, 21.668, (etc): remove these jumps; they are cutoff hits and not pronounced like the normal bass drum
- 23.467: two notes missing here for percussion
- 45.366: missing note for what could be multiple things, either way, it should be there
- 52.865: see 16.868, etc
- 84.813: since you have a DR here, consider moving 85.263/85.563 to either DR (pick the same for both to accent better)
- 98.463: see 18.868, etc.
- placeholder note at the end of the file is a bit late and might not be necessary
- file is solid; a touch overlayered but certainly not bad

You Goddamn Fish (Lambdadelta)
Rating: 5/10 -> [+?]
- 23.337: missing jump
- 24.399: remove jump
- 27.186: reversed layering? (cut-off and shorter crash cymbal gets 3 notes, but a full crash cymbal [27.584] gets only 2?)
- 28.912: inconsistent layering compared to 27.186
- 31.832 to 48.823: PR could use some work overall
- 48.823: needs at least a jump for the cymbal crash, although with your section previous to the more PR-intensive area, you had jumps for bass drums, making this section a bit more light
- the second half of the file needs a bit more clarity in jump usage overall
- file is not queue-worthy and is actually of similar difficulty but lower quality than the recently put-in-game version

You Time (hi19hi19)
Rating: 8/10 -> [+]
- giving it multiple playthroughs, I can’t decide if I like 32nds for the speed of the chip or if they’re overdone, and the reason why I am conflicted with it is that there is very clear separation/scaling in each that could make for a more reasonable chart; as a high level player, I am biased towards it – as a simfile artist, I am biased against it
- to make matters even worse for me as a judge AND as the official tournament host, FFR really hasn’t been exposed to this kind of unrelenting bursting, which makes it a very appealing chart despite the overall brutality
- errors are as follows outside of the 32nds: random jump at 54.572, and the two strange jumps at 84.238, the jump at 101.655 and 103.905, and the jump at 106.322 – most of the jumps are simply erroneous appearing due to accents of instruments that aren’t very strong overall
- for the rest of the file, I had to do something I’ve never done before; I converted the file and gave it a run to see if it was feasible, because extended bursting like this at 180 is uncharted waters
- after a playtest, it definitely is doable; it’s certainly not easy, but our speed demons on the site should be able to nail this and it is a great way to practice raw speed
- even more so, the file just general feels rewarding to do because of how fast it is

Zepyhros (iironiic)
Rating: 7/10 -> [+.]
- interesting – with the exception of the burst at 237.169, it seems like you’ve intentionally used 24ths (or the equivalent) to accent the lighter of the buzzes found in the song, and three-note 32nds to accent the slightly shorter but more aggressive buzzes; it fits nicely in terms of syncopation
- the rhythms are solid overall, but the jump usage seems overdone and is hard to follow – this might also be because the audio quality is somewhat low
- file is a little draggy
- nothing major to note; just check your jumps and ensure they fall in their appropriate places

[6/10] Rainspark / Sanxion7 // XelNya [intro silence]
X Don't forget to credit the artist, and don't put your username and cd title in the song information.
// The extra beat at the start is unnecessary and also offsets everything from their proper measures in the SM editor. Has a lot of repetition for only two minutes. Mostly needs a fair about of layering work, and a few rhythms are incorrect.
1.84, 2.20s etc.: You miss arrows to the same sound that 1.48s goes to.
3.52s: Different pitch from the 2.44-3.16s 3/16ths and should be a different arrow.
31.83 ... 34.71s: You were jumping the clap in this section earlier.
35.19-37.11s: Another instrument comes in here, so maybe put some steps to it for climax theory.
39.03-42.87s: You totally miss the rhythm of the melody in here by doing straight 8th jumpstream. There are 16ths in the percussion and a 16th to the melody at 42.27s. Do try to follow the repeated pitches in the melody. You got 40.71/40.95s right, but you miss 39.99, 41.19s, and all the repeated pitches in the repeats of this phrase.
43.35 ... 46.23s: Maybe jump the claps in these phrases?
45.75, 45.99s: Same pitch and should be the same arrow.
Same above three things for each repeat of these phrases.
65.91-67.83s: There's no percussion on every 8th, and the pitches aren't all the same, so this shouldn't be an anchor.
75.15s: Jump to the kick here, not on the following 8th.
78.51s: Make this [34] to avoid the unnecessary minijack.
80.19s: Jump to the kick here, not on the following 4th.
82.83, 83.19s: Jump to the kick here.

[8*/10] Reality Hits You Hard Bro / Gizmode // mi40
// Layering is good and goes with the music well. But this could easily be cut in about half. There is a lot of repetition.
202.85-225.35s: Missing hands that were in the previous repeat of this section.
265.47s:The long wait made me expect another BAM! at the end. But this filler note is completely unnecessary. Some of the ending should be cut from the .mp3.

[6/10] Renzokuken / Razihel // cedolad
// Has a lot of repetition. Some layering could be changed for better climax theory. A few odd patterns here and there.
17.92-20.26s etc.: Fill the breaks with arrows to the vocals, please. The first four breaks are deservedly blank, but these need to be filled in now that there's something there.
31.98-39.48s: There should be a jump every fourth here with how loud that kick is. You just had a ton of hands, so it's odd for everything to suddenly be singles.
39.48-43.23s: And then up the layering here to keep it heavier than 31.98-39.48s.
45.99s: Missing 32nd.
49.79s: Different pitch and shouldn't be the same as the previous jump.
50.15s: The minijack with the 4th here is irrelevant.
50.85s: Whatever this is, it shouldn't be a 32nd trill.
53.19s: Ghost 16th.
57.30s: Same as 49.79s.
57.65s: Same as 50.15s.
61.98-76.98s: Repeat of the previous section, so, same stuff.
80.03-81.20s: Long, irrelevant 8th anchor.
80.26, 80.73, 84.01s etc.: Although you're layering melody on top of the percussion, it still should just be jumps, because these beats are not as emphasized as the crashes at 76.98 and 91.98s etc.
99.48-103.23s: This should be stepped much lighter because it's a break.

[6.5/10] The Revenge of Mister Foxsky / Foxsky // Xiz
#OFFSET:-0.027; (-27 ms)
X Don't forget to add song information in the file to credit the artist (even though it's obvious enough for this one) and so your username doesn't appear in the subtitle (also you forgot the "The" in the song title).
// Has some odd climax theory and patterns.
11.04-19.76s: Maybe don't step all the galloping hi-hats here yet, because it's against climax theory for there to be more notes here than in the next section.
31.76s: Maybe don't jump the 4th when it's just the kick to differentiate it from 28.49, 29.58s etc. with the high synth.
31.13-31.49s should be a swing trill but not the stuff around it. Also, the 8th anchor around here is too long.
33.40s: After here, that sound changes pitch, so it shouldn't continue as a trill.
36.13s: Similar to 31.76s.
40.22-41.58s: Shouldn't be a long 8th anchor.
44.22-44.58s: Same as 31.13s.
50.58, 52.76s etc.: Jump this sound? Would go with the 51.31-51.94s etc. jumps.
56.85-59.04, 65.58-67.22s: Some hand-biased patterns here could play better.
73.76s: The sound that plays the same pitch doesn't get loud until here, so it should be trills before this.
76.49-85.22s: The section after this has "hey"s on top of the claps, so this section should be less dense somehow for climax theory.
102.67-111.40: The layering makes sense in terms of climax theory from the previous section, but this is pretty densely stepped for a break section.
Wouldn't mind having half of this break cut out, because it's eight phrases long (35 seconds) and there's not much variation in the steps.
113.58-119.04s: The minijacks should be on whichever arrow the hands aren't.
119.85, 122.04, 124.22, 126.40s: Jumps? You could use some jumps in this last section so it's not all hands.
120.94s: These jacks aren't necessaaaaarry.

[7.5/10] Rise Up / dbk2 // rCaliberGX
// Only has a few mistakes, but you should listen more to the judges who can actually play files like this about how playable the patterns are.
38.04-39.04s: Jump the 8ths to the melody here.
43.42, 43.67s: Shouldn't be anchored to the preceding jumps.
57.20s: Not a jump.
64.01, 64.70, 64.93s etc.: Several missing 8ths in this section.

[9!/10] Session / Ghost in the Machine // VisD
// Was confused for a bit there because I wasn't sure if it was a band's remix of their own song (because they're named as the artist in the file), which we wouldn't have permission for, but then I found the remix when looking up the original. I don't see Ghost in the Machine listed in the FFR permissions, either (and the video isn't CC licensed) but maybe you've shown permission somewhere and I'm just not aware.
// As for the file, the layering and patterns and everything are good, it just feels really short.
17.12s: Move to 2 so it's not a part of 17.42-17.73s to the kick. There may be some other spots like this.
89.36-105.91s: Kind of long for an outro, so it's too bad there's not more sounds in there to step.

[PASS] Silent Wind / DJ Sharpnel // Silvuh

[5.5/10] Since 1776 / I am Abomination // reikonkeiri
X No .sm file
// Too much [13] in the file when the pitches change more than the patterns show. Some inconsistent layering, odd patterning, and ignoring of PR that needs work.
2.67-5.78s: Pitches go up, so this PR is backwards.
4.56s: No pitch or instrument repeats, so this shouldn't be a minijack here.
6.00-6.56s: The first three notes are good being ABA, but neither the percussion nor guitar pitches do this long of a trill.
9.67-10.23, 13.12s: Similar to above.
12.12, 15.56s: Also doesn't need to be a minijack.
Because you jump 24.12-24.78, you could jump the 8ths in 20.56-21.23s etc. to the same sound.
21.45s: The only thing this jump could go to is the vocals or that cymbal sound (there's no loud guitar or percussion here), but you're not stepping to the vocals and that cymbal sound isn't jumped, so maybe put no arrow on this 4th here to follow the break between the percussion and bass guitar like at 28.56s.
22.12, 25.67, 32.73s: These 8ths shouldn't be anchored.
22.34-23.23s, 25.89s etc.: The guitar chords increase in pitch, so these should not be all the same jump.
27.45s: This 8th should be anchored only onto the following 4th jump, not the previous one (no three-note anchor). It's 27.67s that has the same percussion sound.
27.78s: Missing 16th.
35.78-37.45s: Try jumping the guitar doing 3/16ths here (xXxxXxxX.xX.xX.X), because right now it's not clear if the 3/16th and galloped jumps go to the same sounds. (Also, the guitar is what you've been jumping, so it would make more sense than jumping the percussion here.)
37.89-38.78s: There's more variation in the guitar pitches than shown in the steps.
38.78-41.89s: The patterns are too left-hand biased here.
42.89-48.12s: Same stuff as the previous section.
48.56-50.34, 51.67-53.45s: Try following a melody here, either vocals or other, so it's not so static.
54.34-55.23s: You didn't follow the pitches of this guitar sound you're jumping here, so it makes less sense for these to be jumps. Also the patterns are odd and could do without minijacks.
57.00-57.67s: These are all emphasized enough to be jumps.
60.12-62.34, 67.23-69.45s: Could layer these more like you layer the middle section.
64.12-65.89s: Shouldn't be all [23] because the crashes have different pitches.
73.00s: This could be a jump or hand.
73.67, 77.23s: Should be a 32nd roll or like a 12321 thing, not a trill.
78.34-78.49s: should start 4th-24th-12th here. Then you could move the 8th up a 192nd to 78.55s so it's halfway between the 12th and 32nd so there's nothing gallopy. The other arrows are fine.
81.12s: 16th, not 24ths in this half-beat.
82.56s: This jump doesn't seem to go to anything.
84.12s: Jump? Also, from here to 84.56s, there's no downward motion in the guitar that this 3214321 goes to.
84.67s: 16th, not 24ths in this half-beat.
85.67-86.12s: Should be something like 123[14]321 so the peak is on the 4th.
86.23s: 16th, not 24ths.
87.23-89.89s: Too bad 24th minijacks would be too hard for the rest of the file here.
87.23 is higher in pitch than 87.45s, so those arrows should be swapped each time.
89.37s: Should have a valley here. The pitches descend from 89.00s and there's no peak at 89.23s. The pitches ascend from 89.37s and there's no valley at 89.67s.
93.50-93.73, 93.95s: These arrows are a 64th late (the sound your 16th goes to is only a 96th late). Also, the pattern stops being a staircase, descending from 93.03s with a valley at 93.48s and a peak at 93.62s.
94.34-148.56s: All the same stuff as before.
151.12s: Missing 16th.
154.78s: Odd to only put notes to the vocals in this last section.
159.45, 163.89s: Missing jump to vocals.
166.34-167.00s: Vocal does 3/16ths here, so the jump at 166.78s is incorrect.

[8/10] Slam Crunk / Holiday Parade // VisD
// File has improved nicely, the patterns and layering are fun. Just a few missing notes in the chorus.
// After the file gets accepted, then it would be good to cut/fade-in the start a little, but until then you need the extra time to refer back to judgment notes.
23.65-25.52s: Fission had you change these from 3/32nds to 12ths, but I still think 3/32nds is more accurate (the distance between "dent-mist" and "george-wash" sounds shorter than "pres-i-dent" and "mis-ter george", so it doesn't sound like straight 12ths to me.) But if no one else tells you to change them back to 3/32nds, then 12ths are fine.
29.27s: Move this arrow to 1 out of the 2s to "ca-a-a-alls".
37.24, 47.24s: Missing percussion 16th.
40.68-41.15, 50.68-51.15s: The guitar plays here like that sound you've done minijacks to, and you're missing the first 16th at 40.68s with both 16ths missing at 50.68s.
Same missing notes in the next repeat of the chorus: 97.24, 100.68, 107.24s.
25.79, 35.46 etc.: The one-handed trill is unnecessary.

[6.5/10] Specular Reflection / Between the Buried and Me // cedolad
// Those vocals just really make this hard to follow. You have intense jumpstream at the start, so you may as well layer more in some sections that are still loud but you don't have as many steps in. Also, some patterning could use work.
11.47-16.61s: You should be able to change up these patterns so there aren't all those long anchors.
17.63s: No jump here, because the sound the other jumps in 16.95-18.29s go to doesn't play here.
19.45s: Try to avoid putting a jump that's anchored on each side with the same arrow, like this 1[12]1. It's irrelevant and odd to play.
19.96, 22.30, 24.63s etc.: The 4th jumps between the 16ths are unnecessary here.
36.95-48.28s: Layering is okay here. But some patterns could be better. Break long anchors.
68.70-69.75s: These could all be jumps.
71.44-71.66, 76.95s etc.: Jumps on the 8ths to go to the three notes of guitar here? Otherwise, the lone 4th jump is odd.
80.04, 80.20s: Different percussion sound. Move to 2 so it's not part of the other anchors. Also when you have long anchors on a live-BPM file, it's better to average the beats out (though it makes the arrow placements not exact), because it's easier to get all perfects when the beats are even. Otherwise, it's like playing Story of Snowman and Sunshine Girl. (You have too much space after 79.83s.)
89.64s: Jump to the same sound as 89.12s.
90.66-91.68s: Could be jumps here.
118.96-129.59s: Definitely needs more layering.

// Some layering choices hide rhythms that could use more emphasis. Climax theory needs a lot of work. It helps to step the most dense sections first and then take away from it to step the lighter sections.
2.91s: 32nd; 6.68, 14.24s: 64th
18.10-31.80s: Rather than jumping every 4th in these sections, it may help to remove some to, for instance, emphasize the the X....X...X....X...X 24th rhythm at 18.10-19.52s etc. That's the main rhythm. So like at 21.88-23.30s, the jumps do X.XXX.X 8ths, but there's no instrument that has that rhythm, which makes it feel irrelevant when you don't emphasize 22.28 and 22.99s.
19.29s: Plays like a ghost note because it doesn't have as much sound on it as 23.06s.
27.95, 28.42s: These hi-hats are really soft, so the arrows could be removed.
29.92-30.86s: Irrelevant anchor.
34.32s: This 12th should be jumped, not the 8th.
40.31s: Sounds different and shouldn't be the same arrow as the previous one.
41.02-41.96s: Another odd anchor.
48.34-50.23s: Climax theory says this should be layered less than the previous stuff, because the instrumentation is less full.
You have a lot of anchors in this section to instrumentation that sounds more like it alternates every 8th rather than plays the same sound repeatedly.
53.54-53.77s: The two sounds aren't the same, so the pseudo-jumps should be different.
63.46-74.80s: This section has more in it than the previous section, so the previous section should be layered lighter than this.
74.80-77.63s: Break up this anchor.
80.47-109.52s: Similar stuff as before.
87.08-87.55s: The note is really soft at 87.55 so that shouldn't be a jump, but maybe do something colorful here to emphasize the sound change.
142.83-152.28s: Change up the layering in here for climax theory.

[6.5/10] Star / DJ Karbon // WV
// Patterns are odd, but I guess that's just easy-file genericness. Climax theory could use a lot of work.
8.77-13.98s: Mirror this.
30.02-35.02s: Backwards climax-theory-wise for there to be more steps in the soft section here, but I suppose stepping the triplets is understandable because those are the notes that are there. However, it would be good to step the 3/16th patterns to the same sound as the triplets, i.e. place 30.44, 32.10, and 33.77s a 16th later instead of those 4ths.
36.48s: Step the jack to the bass here.
50.02-61.69s should be stepped heavier than 36.69-50.02s for climax theory. Otherwise, you may as well cut some repetition out.
76.69-88.35s: Same as above to 70.02-76.69s.
91.27s: Why not step 16th triplets in this section like you did earlier at 30.02s?
103.35s: Missing note. And climax theory with the two sections around here again.

// Some odd layering and rhythms, some inconsistent layering.
1.77, 1.88s: Minijack.
2.20s: Not a minijack.
3.29, 5.03s: Minijack with the (missing) previous 16th, not the following.
3.51, 5.25s: Same as 1.77s.
12.42, 12.75, 13.51, 13.61s: Missing jumps.
14.16s: [23] minijack to go with the following 16th jump to the same sound.
17.42-17.85s: More jumps to the percussion here.
20.46s: Missing jump.
20.90-21.11s: Not emphasized enough to be a jump triplet.
21.66-26.22s: Layering and minijack usage is oddly inconsistent here.
35.24-47.74s: Repeat of a previous section, so, similar stuff here.
50.14, 53.61s: Missing 16ths to percussion.
56.11-61.33s: Odd to have almost every 4th jumped here when it's the 8ths that are emphasized with the percussion.
63.51s: Jack around this 4th is incorrect.
68.29, 68.40, 68.94, 69.05, 69.59-69.92s: Missing jumps to the snare that was on every 8th before this.
101.98, 102.09s: Minijack.
102.31s: Hand here, not on the 4th.
104.38s: Jumps here.
104.81s: Missing note.
Rest of the file is similar stuff.

[7/10] Summer Colors Arch / Y.W // VisD
// Layering is much better, but I noticed some PR and pattern things I didn't see last time.
19.20 and 19.40 are the same pitch, and 19.50-19.80 is a minitrill in the melody.
20.98-21.47s: The percussion sounds that are jumped aren't the same between groups, so I'd try like [23][23]1[34][34]2 or something.
38.55, 41.70s etc.: Try changing the patterns up so the third 16th in each set isn't anchored to the previous ones. They're notably softer than the others and shouldn't be on the same arrow. This will also help break the unnecessary one-hand minitrill at 38.35s.
40.12, 43.68, 46.44s: No drum here.
64.30-65.88s: Percussion doesn't do long trills here.
78.51s: Maybe change the 32nd pattern before this jump so this can be [34] for PR.
79.50, 79.89s: Not the same pitch and shouldn't be the same jump.
80.29-80.68s: The three-note anchor here is irrelevant.
80.88s: No jump here. It makes it feel like the melody continues after 80.68s when it doesn't.
89.17s: This is lower in pitch than the previous jump and not the same as the two 4ths before it.
97.66-98.05s: 234 instead of 123 here to avoid a three-note anchor on 1.
100.03s: Percussion doesn't make a trill here.

[5/10] Super Soaker / Blitz Lunar // GammaBlaster
// Many long anchors and 32nd patterns make the file less playable. Adding some more PR will help. Has some layering inconsistencies.
3.00, 3.09s: Ghost notes.
2.81-11.88s: None of the long anchors are relevant to the music.
4.10s: Different pitch than the previous 4th jump and shouldn't be the same.
5.10s: Shouldn't be anchored with the other 16ths here; it's the same sound as 4.65s.
6.93s: No jump here. You don't jump this sound any other times in this section, and it's not emphasized enough to be jumped anyway.
12.33s: The sound does something like 44ths here, but that would be too difficult to play. Also, it doesn't do 4321.
13.07-33.57s: The music is very repetitive here. You had 4321 earlier when the 32nds did groups of threes, and now you have messes of 32nds when it actually does ascending groups of four. These could just be stepped as ascending rolls starting on jumps PRed to the sound that plays at the start of each roll. Each group of 16ths strictly ascends in the melody, and the first three groups end on the same pitch each time, with 17.92s being lower. Of course pattern variation is necessary, so you can do different patterns that strictly ascend (i.e. no instances of 43, 32, or 21 except in jumps) but end on the same jump by stepping backwards.
Also, the final 16th jump should never be the same as the jump before it (e.g. 14.07 and 13.80s) because the sounds on them are different.
Maybe unlayer some jumps in 13.07-23.32s, because a new, louder percussion comes in at 23.32s that plays the same notes as the previous one, so climax theory says 23.32-33.57s should be layered more (but adding anything more here would be too much.)
32.11s: There's an instrument here playing a note that's louder than any other post-final-16th-jump note, so maybe step this one.
37.96s: Just a jump here, because there's a break in the melody.
38.24, 42.91s: Some galloping percussion you can step here.
41.26-41.81s: Try changing this up so it's not all [12] every 8th.
43.82-54.07s: Similar things about the patterns in this section.
48.03, 48.40s: Remove these jumps because they have no melody on them to better emphasize the melody.
54.81s: So soft it may as well be a ghost note.
54.99s: Is just a single percussion sound and shouldn't be a jump.
55.17s: There are no trills in the melodies here.
55.35, 61.03s: Missing jump to percussion.
58.65s: No percussion here to jump.
59.93-60.30s: So something colorful here to emphasize how the sounds are cut off to make up for FFR not having stops.
61.40-62.49s: Long irrelevant anchor here that inhibits playability.
63.96s: Does 16ths here with echoes on the 32nds. Could do 16ths with something colorful to show that it's not just 16ths without having to step some difficult 32nd pattern.
65.06-65.70s: By anchoring these 16ths jumps together, you may as well step 36.32, 41.44, 67.07, 70.18 with PR rather than make them ABA just to avoid the minijacks that you use here.
67.25s: Is the same pitch as 67.44, not 67.07s.
69.63s: No jump here. Same as 54.99s.
69.86-70.82s: Change the patterns to break the 16th anchor.
70.73s: Missing a 4th.
74.58-76.59s: All the sounds in the music makes this feel like it shouldn't be straight 32nds.
77.41-77.87s: Irrelevant one-hand trill.
77.51s: Missing jump to the same sound as 77.78s.
78.24-80.98s: Break up this anchor.
79.70-89.95s: Same thing about the patterns as in the intro.
91.46-91.74s: The three bleeps here should be in the same column to show that the 8th is a part of them. Also, all the off-beat bleeps start on 32nds.
94.26-94.53s: Similar to 91.46s, the faster bleeps should be in the same column. Here, the only offbeat bleeps are 94.39 and 95.31s, so no greens are necessary. You shouldn't have any pseudo-hands in this section (jumps with a note closer than a 32nd to them).
100.21-120.98s: Similar stuff as before.
122.72s: Maybe do some BPM changes here so the colors don't look messy.
123.36-123.67s: These arrows are all too early.
124.14 and 124.69 are too early and 124.51s and 125.49s are too late.
Each group of four should be stepped pretty evenly.

[6/10] sylcmyk's theme / sylcmyk // VisD
// More PR will help structure the file. Layering starts good but gets a little messy as more sounds come in. // Music has lots of repetition and could be cut a little.
2.16-9.89s: For every section, the patterns will feel more structured if the anchors are correct. To the melody in this section each measure should start with an 8th anchor (e.g. 2.39, 2.62s, same pitch as 3.02s). 6.61-6.84s will play better with a pattern like [24]313. Non-PR anchors that could be undone include 2.16, 2.39s; 3.80, 4.03; 9.42, 9.66s.
6.69s: Should be a 24th here rather than 48th.
7.94s: Missing 24th.
8.05s: No 48th here. The jump is enough.
9.89-17.39s: Similar stuff here.
17.62s: Different sound than the previous 24ths and shouldn't be a part of a minitrill.
18.80-19.50s: The four-note anchor here is irrelevant. The 24th at 18.87s is so soft it can be removed. This way, 18.80 and 19.03s don't have to be anchored to each other. The jump at 19.27s should be anchored on each side on a different arrow, like [12][13]3.
23.25s: Same as 17.62s.
23.72s: Same sound as 24.27s, so they should both be or not be jumped. Not jumping them helps keep the jumps on the fourths more emphasized.
24.89s: Jump rather than a pseudo-jump. Also, there's an irrelevant five-note one-handed trill here.
28.17s: Similar to 18.80s.
30.75s: Same as 17.62s.
33.56, 33.80s: Different percussion sounds and should be different jumps.
35.36, 35.67s: Similar to 33.56s.
37.08s: Jump here to the same sound as the 8th after it.
39.73s: Ghost note.
39.89s: Maybe start with ABA to the percussion. The loud melody doesn't start until the 8th, anyway. From 40.12s, if you try stepping this in a doubles chart for reference, you can see the pitches go 1323234234341465346467.
40.20-40.52s: Trill here.
41.14-41.37s: No trill here.
41.45-41.69s: Try changing the patterns up so this ending trill doesn't have to be one-handed.
42.86-43.64s: Shouldn't be minitrills here. The pitches do ABAC, so the percussion note before the melody should be somewhere so it's not BABAC.
43.64, 44.11s; 46.45, 46.92: Different percussion sounds and shouldn't be the same jump.
48.33-51.14s: The 4ths don't sound like they should be layered so much here. The jump at 48.33s seems to come out of nowhere, because it's not that much different from 47.86s or the sounds on the 8ths.
50.20-50.67s: Don't need hands here. They take away from 51.14s.
57.39s: This note sounds like it has a grace note for it, but 57.47 and 57.70s don't.
58.33, 58.56s etc.: These should be pseudo-jumps starting on the 12th/24th and ending on the following 32nd, a 96th later.
63.87s: Ghost note.
65.67-66.37s: Break up this anchor.
73.35, 78.97s: Shouldn't be a pseudo-hand.
Most of the other stuff is kind of similar to what I've said before.

// The selective layering, playability (except for the 32nd walls), and usage of BPM multiplication work very well here, but in the process, you completely ignore some melodies that should be PRed to really improve your file.
7.96s: Anchor this 8th to the previous jump for consistency with 3.59s.
10.41-14.23s: The Nova Pulsar pattern is irrelevant here. The pitches repeat a 21341234-like thing.
The two sections of 14.78-15.87-16.96s should be identical, and 16.96-17.50-18.05s should be repeats, then 18.05-19.07s should be all 1234, because that's exactly what the pitches do there. Before 18.05s, avoid using 12341234 (though you can still use 1234) so it doesn't look like 18.05s. You can use patterns that generally rather than strictly ascend, like 213243 (contains descending notes, but the shape of the pattern ascends).
19.14-23.50s: Step the melody first to see where the anchors should be. It only has three different pitches. Every 8th should be anchored to the 4th before it except for 21.59s in this section.
23.50-s: Similar to above, except 23.78, 24.32, and 25.96 should not be anchored because the melody's rhythm changes slightly. Also, don't miss the 16th jack at 26.23-26.50s.
27.87-35.50s is an exact repeat of the previous eight measures except with an added snare to jump at 33.73s.
35.50s: Jump to the crash here.
35.37-36.18s: Irrelevant one-handed trill.
40.14, 40.68s: Add these 8ths to the anchor, because the sound isn't totally silent yet.
45.23-s: In this section, every "gotsa gotsa" should be a minitrill and every "yeah" should be anchored, but then, the arrows around those should not be anchored to those arrows. So 45.32-46.82s is good, but then 46.96s is anchored to the previous "yeah" when it shouldn't be. The "gotsa" at 48.32 shouldn't be anchored to the previous jump at 48.05s which has a "yeah" on it. Sometimes you have long trills for the "yeah"s but those aren't always correct, e.g. the percussion sound on 47.37s is different from that of the next two 16ths.
56.23-58.28s, 60.59s etc: Do jacks here like you do at 143.50s.
71.50-88.96s: Similar to the intro.
88.96s: Same stuff about adding more PR to the melody. The new additions are mostly stepped well.
101.71s: Ghost note. Also, this beat here should not be too similar to 97.21-97.55s, which is also just 16th jumps. Perhaps at 97.21s, use different colors (like substitute green-white-cyan for red-yellow-blue) to signify the shortness of these sounds.
106.41-110.78s: It is good that these are trills instead of jacks. Change the patterns up so there's no minijack at 108.32s. Change which jump the 16ths are on at 109.82s.
110.37s: Just a single here.
112.96-115.00s: Try jacks here.
121.41-121.68s: The pattern should change here as the pitches change, like at 117.05-117.32s.
126.87, 131.23s: Missing jump to bass.
141.32-142.55s: Step the echoes here.
143.50-144.46s: Put this jack on the left hand so they're not both right-handed.

[7/10] Tetris / Powerglove // samurai7694
// Mostly just has a lot of odd anchors.
25.35, 26.84s: Shouldn't be anchored to the previous jump for PR.
29.53-30.08s: Irrelevant four-note anchor.
48.06-58.25s: More PR in the jumps would help.
59.88-62.42s: The pitches in the guitar changes more than the jumps do.
60.69s etc.: The guitar that the minijacks go to is much softer than the bass, which is ignored.
87.36s: Not sure why the jumps on the 12ths stop here or what those were going to, anyway.
97.91s: Unnecessary three-note anchor.
98.88s: Irrelevant four-note anchor.
101.91-106.65s: The guitar doesn't do staircases here. The 107.74s section is stepped more accurately.
128.09s: Same stuff as the previous section of this.
140.40-141.15s: There is no sound that plays the same note on all of these arrows. Break up the anchor.
143.90s: Softer than the previous notes in the anchor.
... And so on for the anchors in this section.
155.96-156.47s: Because the melody only has two notes, [12][34][12][12] would work better. Same for 161.32s etc.

2.73-4.83s: For this section and its repeat, you can make 2.73 and 3.03s hands (and make 2.65s a single) then jump the doubled guitar notes, the five in 3.78-4.53s. This also helps them not get lost in the singles to the light guitar between them.
7.53-16.53s: I don't hear at all what the anchors are supposed to go to. There are repeated sounds in the percussion that could use anchors, but there's nothing in the guitar that suggest ones these long.
For increasing layering in this section, you can put hands where the guitar and snare are layered and at the starts of phrases like 2.73s.
16.53-17.13s: The percussion does more than ABABA here, so you should make some of them singles to change up the pattern. Maybe .x.xx...X, ending on a hand.
19.54-: Step the percussion to add polyrhythms for difficulty.
21.79s: Jump here and a 24th at 21.89s.

// If this is supposed to be a trill practice thing, I guess that's interesting, but it feels wrong to have all the left-handed trills when the pitches do change, which is a big issue. Everything else is mostly good.
13.19-13.94 is just a 123454321 thing with no minitrill in it.
14.69-16.19s: The sound you're putting left-hand trills to plays through all of this.
16.84, 17.78s etc: The sound does play here, so the breaks aren't necessary.
18.72-20.31s: The pitches on the jumps go BCBACBA, so this isn't quite right.
32.87s: When the pitch of the trill changes, it shouldn't be stepped on the same two arrows.
Also in these sections, you could step PR jumps to the melody first and fit trills around them.
65.67-77.67s: Here too you can change which arrows the trills are on to follow the chord progression.
93.41s: Should have a valley here, not at 93.32s.
94.73, 94.91s: Break these off the previous anchor. The guitar is still doing that ABABCBC thing until 95.66s.
97.35s: Similar to 32.87s.
105.78s: Valley here. This 4th and the next 16th should just be 41.
131.65, 152.65s: Similar to 65.67s.

[6/10] Upular / Pogo // M0nkeyz
X don't put your username in the song information. We don't want to know who stepped a file before we playtest it.
// Would help to make the file more interesting by changing up the jump-every-fourth layering. This will aid in climax theory and make it easier to step accurate anchors. Also, cutting the music (there's a lot more repetition) will make climax theory easier, because there will be fewer sections you'll have to differentiate from each other.
6.01-13.69s: Sorry, I didn't give the best advice here earlier. The bass instrument, even though you're not stepping the other notes to it, does overpower the repeated pitches of the higher instrument. So just in this intro section, not having minijacks like later does play better. In fact, you could just step the extra notes to the bass, and then my argument from before would be null. Also, even though each repeat of those three-note groups is the same pitch every time, putting it in the same column every time is more work for one finger. Balancing your file plays better.
13.69-21.37s: When I mentioned trying to layer the strings and voice here, I did mean to try to find a jumping scheme other than "a jump every 4th to the kick" that suits the melodic instruments better. The way I would go about stepping this section is to F5/F6 into an adjacent difficulty and step the rhythm of the string instrument in one column and the rhythm of the voice in another, and you see where the sounds are layered. But just because a beat has two instruments on it doesn't mean it should be a jump, so I'd listen for the beats that are more emphasized. For instance, 13.93, 14.41, and 14.65s all have both instruments on them, but the voice is louder on 13.93 and 14.65s, so those could be jumps, and 14.41s wouldn't be. I'd start by placing singles with PR to the vocal melody as a base. 13.93-14.41 and 15.85-16.33 are the same three vocal sounds, and proper pattern repetition adds cohesion to the file (Patterns feel random otherwise.) Also, the patterns should somehow recognize the 3/16th rhythm of the vocal at 16.57-17.29s to differentiate it from when it's just doing eighths.
Jumps every fourth can get stale, especially when it sacrifices musical relevance. Also, jumping every fourth creats many more unnecessary 8th jacks if you're not careful. My changing the layering, you can make it so the only 8th anchors are on the tom drum. You have repeated arrows to most of them byt miss it at 20.89s, which is inconsistent. At 17.05s, you have a three-note anchor, but the jump should only be anchored to the tom drum (17.29s) and not the 8th before it.
16.81s: You have a 16th before this 8th when it should be after.
21.37-26.17s: If you do decide to change the jump-every-beat layering of the previous section, you'll need to unlayer more here too to keep it less dense. Again, starting with PRed singles to the vocal melody will help.
37.09s: Missing 16th to the same hi-hat as 39.01, 40.93s.
45.13, 52.81s: Missing 8th.
59.77-67.45s: This section looks like you were making a reference layer but then forgot to vary it up because of all the [34] jumps and a jack on 1 every time. Definitely need to change up these patterns.
72.61s: Missing minijack to string instrument.
76.09, 79.93s: Don't jump the 4ths after the hands, because the sounds are lighter. This also helps the hands give more emphasis.
87.97s: Same as 72.61s.
90.07s: 32nd is unnecessary.
100.09-107.77s: For climax theory, to make this have more steps than the previous section, you can jump the chords at 100.09, 100.81, 101.53s etc. that weren't present before.
126.31s etc.: Not sure what's going on with these 32nds here.

[7.5*/10] Video Out E / vospi // Gradiant
// Layering is perfectly consistent, some patterns here and there could be improved. Do consider adding in the swing.
3.00-10.70s: Too much C1 bass in the beginning. You can hear that 4.65, 5.61, 6.02s sound louder than 4.24, 5.20, 6.44s and so on, so those should be in different columns.
12.91-s: Sounds like there's some swing in the beat, like shifting 12.97, 13.39, 14.49s etc. down to the 12th.
23.91, 24.19s: Shouldn't be the same jump because percussion sounds are different.
36.23s: Ghost note. To follow that sound, I would anchor 36.16s to the following 4th jump, 36.30s.
44.97s: Same as above. Other than those two things, 30.52-48.13s is good.
49.24, 58.04s: Missing note.
73.73s: Maybe make this a pseudo-jump? This one sounds like it could have a grace note more than the others.
86.67-87.22s etc: Maybe try anchors here like you do at 121.62s.
88.87, 89.01s: Should both be the same jump because the chord on them is the same even though the percussion is different.

[6.5/10] Want You Gone / Jonathan Coulton // Xiz
X remove graphics information
// For a lot of the file, the arrows vary between 0 to 25 ms early from the sounds not all being quantized, so you're likely to get like half of the arrows off by a frame.
// It's mostly good, especially the layering, but please change up the patterns more, because a lot of this is just mirrors of previous sections. That combined with the sync makes this not quite acceptable.
28.71s: Some trills like this one are irrelevant.
42.36, 43.41, 44.46s: Pitch changes, so these shouldn't be a part of the jacks.
68.31-81.81s: This whole section is just a mirror of the previous chorus except for 73.41s and a few extra notes.
95.01-102.51s: Almost an exact mirror of 54.21-61.71.
104.61-105.51S: A bit of reverse PR here that wasn't caused by mirroring.
117.51, 118.11s: Vocal pitches are very different here, so these jumps shouldn't all be the same.
119.91-132.21s: Might as well do white notes here or not do them at all.
135.81s: Remove this.

[8/10] You Goddamn Fish / Renard // Lamdadelta
// Most likely too similar in difficulty to Choof's file to get put in-game now, sorry. When I judged it last batch, every disagreement I had with Choof's file was something you did correct. Just a few small errors here.
6.34, 27.58, 48.82, 53.07, 54.66, 56.25s: Hand here.
14.84, 29.16, 50.94, 57.31s: Should be a different hand because the sound is different from the previous two.
30.90s: No jump here.
74.31-75.10s: Remove the singles and turn the jumps into singles here for climax theory. This is the softest part and shouldn't be layered more than the previous section.

[PASS] You Time / Blitz Lunar // hi19hi19
5.40-27.87s: Shouldn't be the same pattern every time, because the base pitch changes although the contour doesn't.
29.23-33.40s: Not all sounds have the same strength, so they shouldn't all be on the same arrow.
... Not going to judge this, because I'd rather see just jumps at the start of each 64th roll sound rather than weird 32nd patterns with half-beat breaks.

[5.5/10] Zephyros / xi // iironiic
// There's so many jumps that it's hard to see what you were going for. Throughout the file, the layering feels uneven.
21.50s: The first two jumps seem to go to the bass, the third and fourth to the melody that the music starts with, and the fifth to the start of a burst. But you don't jump just the melody for the rest of this four measures. 21.83s does have a snare on it that you jump at 23.00 and 23.16s, so that's fine, but 22.00s is just that melody. The start of a burst isn't any more emphasized than the rest, so 22.16 doesn't need a jump. If you were jumping the melody, you'd put a jump at 22.33s in the middle of the burst rather than the start. But really, that melody is overshadowed by the other melodic chords, like at 22.33 and 22.66s, but you don't jump those either. If you were jumping the bass (like at 21.50-21.66 and 28.00-28.16s), you'd have jumps at 22.66 and 22.83s. In fact, the same sounds are at 28.00 and you jump them there, so this is inconsistent. But by stepping both the bass and snare, you get four jumps in a row that go to different sounds, which doesn't work if the patterns don't make it obvious. 28.16s goes to the bass and 28.50s to the snare, but you gave them the same jump.
23.50-23.75s: These sounds are very light, so it feels odd to jump these when there are much more emphasized sounds being left as singles.
24.00, 26.66s: You don't step this sound at first but put a jump to it two measures later.
25.16, 25.33: If these two jumps really do go with the chords, then they should be different jumps, because the chords are different. And then you should jump the other chords consistently, like at 22.50s.
25.75s: Missing note to the bass. And because this is just the bass here, it doesn't need to be jumps.
26.83s: Hand here? Also, then 27.00s can be totally anchored to 26.83s to the bass like at 21.50s.
27.33s: Same as 22.00s.
27.41s: Missing 16th.
28.91s: Same as 23.50s.
29.66, 29.83s: Shouldn't be the same jump. 29.66s is a jump to the bass like the jump before it. 29.83 doesn't need to be a jump, because like 22.16s, it's just the start of a burst.
30.66s: Same as 25.33s.
32.16s: Hand here. Kind of odd to have all these hands just before here when there are other crashes in the more dense sections that are just as emphasized.
... and more of the same until 42.83.
44.16s: Hand? Also, 44.33s should be anchored to this because it has the same bass note.
44.50, 45.16, 45.83, 46.50s etc.: There's no repeated sound that these jumps go to. The only one of these eighths that sounds like it could be jumped is 46.00s which has a bass note on it.
44.75, 44.91, 45.25s, etc: Several missing notes to the piano. There's even something faster than 16ths at 45.33s.
49.00s: Inconsistent to jump the bass here but not at 48.66s. I would suggest unlayering it, because that would get too busy.
49.50s: 16ths start here.
... and all of that odd layering throughout this section until 86.83s.
96.16s: Jump to the chord.
Compared to 44.16-86.83 and 129.50-150.83, 108.160-129.50s sounds like a half-BPM section.
The layering in 108.16-129.50 makes more sense. You jump all this percussion fine, but the jumps to the melody are inconsistent. See 109.16, 111.83, 118.16s.
112.50s: Similar to 23.50s, that these aren't all emphasized enough for jumps.
120.00s: Jump to bass?
122.50-123.16s: Odd for these to all be the same jump. Oh these three, only 122.83 has loud percussion on it.
127.00, 127.66s: Odd to jump one but ignore the next one.
131.33s: Jump to go with the previous ones with this sound.
132.50, 132.66s: Different sounds and shouldn't be the same jump. In fact, 132.83s has the bass on it and should be anchored to 132.66s.
136.66s: Same as 131.33s. But I guess you didn't step it because of the 24ths.
137.83s: Same as 132.50s.
140.16-150.50s: The extra layering that you add for climax theory is uneven. Not sure what to suggest. But maybe work with the patterns some to break up some of the long anchors.
150.83-172.16s: Still, the layering is odd, because it feels like one sound is being jumped, but then it isn't, so maybe it's a different sound, but then there are so many more jumps... Often times you have two jumps together and anchor the next note the same arrow as the previous jump, creating unnecessary three-note anchors, like at 162.33s.
174.83-217.50s: Same stuff as 44.16-86.83s. Lots of odd anchors and irrelevant double-jumps.

- 2.81, 3.02, 3.31, 3.44: Why are these notes missing?
- 11.51: Missing note.
- First 12 seconds are a bit confusing as to what you're going for
- 23.43, 24.48: The triplets cover the most prominent parts of the chip bursts here, although adding these would be an idea since they're prominent enough
- 26.11, 27.99, 37.53: Missing notes
- 47.61: Why the notation change? There's no significant differences here to warrant this
- 81.04: There should be a jump here
- 84.30, 85.77, 85.98, 87.45, 87.66, more: Missing notes, I'm not sure why some of these prominent notes (to the melody too) are just left out
- 92.70: Another missing note to the melody, is there a reason for this?
- The ideas were there, but some of these missing notes would need some explaining.

- 16.52: What is this jump going to?
- 23.19, 23.38: Missing notes
- 24.02: There isn't any reason to offset this jump. I see what this is trying to do, but it does not add anything significant.
- 30.97, 31.33, 33.89, 34.26, 42.67, 43.04: Missing jumps (layering the snare and melody)
- 57.31, 57.67, 58.04: What are these jumps going to?
- 61.06: Missing note
- 61.88, 62.25, 62.61: Missing jumps
- 63.62, 64.17, 64.35: Missing notes
- 65.91-69.56: What are these jumps going to?
- 66.36, 67.46, 67.64, 67.83, 68.38, 70.02, 70.75: Missing notes
- 72.32: See 24.02
- 74.32, 75.05, 77.25, 77.98: Missing notes (I've noticed there is a mix of the kick and the hi hats here, some inconsistency going on)
- 78.71: More acceptable than 72.32 and 24.02
- 79.08, 90.78: The minijacks in these sections don't have as much force as the powerful kicks, the synth is actually weak here so the minijacks are out of place (they also limit your patterning opportunities)
- 85.57, 86.03, 88.22, 88.50: Missing notes
- 86.94: You stepped the 64th burst at 89.87 but not this one
- 90.41: This is a soft insignificant cymbal crash. This offsetted note is unnecessary.
- 93.71, 95.36: Missing jumps (stepping 95.17 as a jump would be a bad idea here). 95.54 should not be a jump.
- 94.81: Missing 5-note 16th burst
- 96.64: In this section the hi hat is surprisingly prominent and there are a lot of triplets you can step
- 105.60, 105.97, 106.33: What are these jumps going to?
- 108.53-113.65: What are these jumps going to?

Rainspark

- The first 6 seconds are stepped rather counterintuitively; there are also notes on 1.86, 2.22, 3.78, 4.14, 5.70, and 6.06 that were not stepped but follow the same instrument
- 7.98: This note is a different pitch and should not form any minijacks or jacks here.
- 12.42, 14.34, 20.10, 22.02, 27.78, 29.70: These notes are different pitches and shouldn't be on the same column of the jacks
- The down and up jacks are getting very repetitive, use left and right as well for more pattern diversity
- 31.86: Why did the layering change here all of a sudden? There should be a jump here, 32.82, and so forth.
- 39.06: To add some flavor here instead of 8ths with a jump every 4th, you can step in the lower synth (39.42, 40.38, 41.34, 42.06, etc. is what I mean)
- Up to 65.45 those bland 8th sections looked like copy and paste even if they weren't. Stepping in the lower synth would be a good idea
- 68.69: Usually a 3/32nd anchor like this is not a good idea when going into a roll on the same hand
- 75.29: Did you mean to put the jump on the 16th before? The 16th before layers the powerful kick and the melody.
- 80.21: Missing note to the kick
- 82.85, 83.21: Missing jumps
- 83.81, 84.05: Here there's only the percussion, the other instrument only lands on 83.69 and 83.93
- 85.01: Missing note
- 86.69: This note is a different pitch, it shouldn't be part of this jack
- 91.13, 93.05, 98.81, 100.73, 106.49, 108.41: See 12.42. Also, copy and paste. These shouldn't all be down and up jacks.
- Several jacks need to be changed but the overall structure is there (putting aside some of the layering issues I mentioned). The copy paste issue was a let down.

Reality Hits You Hard Bro
4/10
- 15.94: This is just a 32nd going into a 4th, not a 48th
- 20.84-20.99: What are these notes going to? The 4th is where the guy lands on
- 21.22, 21.37: Why are these jumps? When you have something like 22.57 being a much more powerful cymbal crash as a jump and these single percussion hits as jumps too, the jumps lose their effect
- 24.07: So this is a hand but 16.87 is a jump?
- 24.52: Why is this a jump?
- 30.18, 30.26, 30.33: These 32nds are where the drum hits land on. The offsetted notes do not give anything significant and the 64th is wrong.
- 54.97: This burst is 32nds. The patterning here is valid but the actual placements are wrong
- 58.57, 62.17, 65.77: Also 32nds. Missing 32nd on 66.03
- 67.72: This jack stands out like a sore thumb and doesn't even make sense when you stepped everything else as non-jacks. Missing note on 67.64 as well
- 101.17: I don't see what the jumps here are going to, there's a mix of 16th and 8th jumps that seemingly do not make any sense
- 105.97: If these 24ths were supposed to go to the echo of the snare hits, these are just 16th triplets. The running synth is a series of 32nds, so this section is wrong either way. There are also a lot of missing jumps here
- 111.07: These are 32nds; if you want to take note of the speedup at 112.87 the 32nd roll can be patterned in the opposite direction on each side for example.
- 114.33: This roll was cut way too short. It goes until 114.52, you could at least have stepped up to 114.48
- 120.07: The running synth here is 32nds. If you wanted gallops, they should have been 32nds.
- 122.17, 122.32: There are 32nd triplets here but no 64ths. 32nd gallops would fit the structure you were looking for (also see 129.37, 129.52)
- 125.77, 125.92: These should also be 32nd gallops
- 127.27: See 120.07
- The above few errors repeat again through 143.94. The 48ths and 64ths are really just 32nds.
- 196.57: First off this is not an unbroken stream. Secondly, the running synth is also 32nds, but broken up here.
- 199.27: See 120.07
- 201.37: See 122.17
- The 48th and 64th gallop problem repeats again.
- 227.77, 231.37: These are 32nd bursts
- 235.00: Like earlier in the file, these are 32nds. Missing 32nd on 235.27
- 235.30: There's obviously a BPM change here that was completely disregarded so now it's just a big color mess with weird sync. Get the right BPM here please.
- 239.35: The file should have ended here. Nobody wants to wait 26 more seconds of an insignificant section for the file to end.
- Throughout the file there's a lot of hand and jump usage that is confusing and I don't want to list all the cases here. It's like when someone brainstorms, has many ideas, and then the ideas are scattered all over the place. The patterning was also very repetitive and felt like copy paste even if it wasn't.

Renzokuken
4/10
- 1.55, 16.53, 31.53: The jumps suffice already, the offsetting is unnecessary/insignificant. Also it takes over 30 seconds for the file to not be anything besides a bunch of hands which is very unappealing (we're talking about 1/3 of the song just being empty space)
- 37.40, 41.15: The other bursts were 24ths, but these are just 16th triplets
- 39.16, 42.91: Missing notes
- 46.01: Missing note
- 46.07: Breaking this up into two 4-note 32nd trills would play much better
- 47.01: How is this a hand? It's literally just a kick by itself
- 47.12: This 24th gimmick thing (offsetted as 16ths) is wrong, the wubs are on 47.12, 47.24, and 47.40 (so a 16th, an 8th, then a 24th).
- 49.01, 52.76: While there is a softer sound on the 16th it's so insignificant that this offsetted note gives no effect
- 50.87: The 32nd trill is cheap and incorrect (you can even try arguing to make this a 48th vibrating trill, it's just not a good idea to fudge steps for sounds like these)
- 50.52: Missing jump
- 51.46, 55.21: Missing note
- 54.64, 54.76: The offsetting should be done on the time of the actual first distortion (54.51 in this case)
- I don't see why 50.17 and 57.67 are minijacks
- 62.01: Same exact error and patterning as previously, copy paste
- 62.12: See 47.12
- 62.71, 70.21: Missing note
- 64.01, 67.76: See 49.01, copy paste
- 65.87: See 50.87, copy paste
- 69.61, 69.73: See 54.64, copy paste
- 73.26, 73.96, 74.66, 75.37: Why are these hands?
- 91.89: Missing note
- 99.98: This jump should have been on the 16th before
- The end cut is abrupt and there's no reason for those two hands
- Noticeable copy and paste going on here which results in playing the same patterns over again and the layering is also erratic in spots. Several spots also have misstepped sounds that need to be changed.

Revenge Of Mister Foxsky
7/10
- 11.03: Since there isn't much going on here, more involved layering can be introduced later for a greater effect. Layering in the light cymbals to the pulsing 8th melody doesn't add much here. I suggest leaving the jumps to layering the snare until 19.76 when the claps come in
- 15.03, 19.40: Should be on the right note
- 19.76: Missing jump
- 50.31: Missing hand
- 50.58, 52.76, 54.94, 61.49, 63.67: Missing jumps (layering in the wubs with the other melody)
- 72.12: The "jack" sound is so insignificant here this should just be a down-up trill
- 102.67: Layering just the violin would be fine here until the let's get ready to rumble part (leaving the "hey" jump is fine too), but all these extra jumps just make the section more convoluted.
- 113.85: This section is erratically stepped. What you actually have here are 32nd triplets starting on 16th notes (e.g. 113.99, 114.53, and so forth) but you have 24th ghost note minijacks.
- The 3-note 24th jacks at the end should be made to one handed trills, it's not a good difficulty spike to have here
- Also at the end basically all hands and no jumps is awkward, the wubs should just be jumps at most.
- Those 24th minijacks need to be fixed, that section is 32nd triplets, not 24th gallops.

Rise Up
6/10
- 24.07: It looks like you were trying to avoid 8th minijacks in this jumpstream but it just makes a weird roll/spin combination that's unpleasant to play
- 39.32, 39.82: Missing jumps
- 43.94: Missing note
- 44.07: This section shares the same problem as 24.07; too many weird roll and spin type patterns. One handed gallops like this right next to each other causes awkward transitioning.
- 62.76: Missing jump (snare and chip melody)
- 63.45: Layering here is confusing, you could just go with the 8th melody and layer in the snare. 78.22 Makes more sense.
- 85.61: Same problem as 24.07. This problem has appeared three times now. One hand gallop patterns right next to each other like these require awkward pauses and positioning for the player's hand. It also looks like I'm playing the same exact stream as the previous two.
- 94.84: Ok, now this feels like a gigantic copy paste. These patterns are annoyingly repeated again and it's just reverse galloping or rolling over and over.
- 105.12: Fifth time mentioning this patterning problem.
- 107.71: Unnecessary, this is just a 4th placement
- Layering seemed ok putting aside the part I mentioned at 63.45; but repeating those one hand gallop parts were just absolutely atrocious to play.

Session (Ghost In The Machine Remix)
8/10
- 94.06: Jump is late
- 101.49, 102.12: Why are these jumps?
- 104.07: This gallop is too fast/late. The 64th should be a 48th instead.
- The ending has some coloring that is off. 90.93 should just be an 8th note, there is no reason for it to be a 32nd. Also, those last few piano gallops fall on inconsistent intervals when this should again just be 8ths.
- Ending can definitely use recoloring because right now those BPM changes are unnecessary (especially 90.93) and need to be requantized.

Silent Wind
8/10
- 68.79: Violin here is very prominent, missing note (also inconsistent with 72.42)
- 81.74, 102.88: Missing notes
- There were a few other notes that seemed like they were missing as well. Otherwise this file was executed well.

Since 1776
3/10
- 4.47, 12.03: These minijacks are random/out of place. This happens afterwards as well.
- 16.58: Ghost note
- 18.25: The jumps here don't make much sense, not sure why this part is even stepped this way
- 21.14: Missing note
- 21.36: More random minijacks like I mentioned earlier, fix this problem please
- 27.81: Missing note again. Also, there was a jump at 21.47 but 28.58 is completely empty. This inconsistency problem also needs to be fixed.
- 36.03: Ghost note, more inconsistent and erratic stepping here
- 44.58: Copy paste
- 58.81: Missing jump
- 72.47: These 24th gallops are more annoying than expressive. Missing vocal note on 72.92 as well.
- 73.70, 77.25: The double pass pedal here is 24ths, not 32nds
- 80.00: Note placed too late, it should be the 32nd before
- 81.03: The guitar is 16ths here, not 24ths
- 82.14, 84.58, 86.14: See 81.03
- 87.25: Missing jump, the layering in this file is inconsistent and confusing
- 92.70: This is a 32nd triplet. This part of the solo needs to be synced better, the way it is right now is wrong.
- 95.81: Missing note
- 97.03: Copy paste. I'm seeing the same previous errors again.
- 110.47: Copy paste
- 121.36: Copy paste with more notes added in. The jumps don't make sense here, nor do the minijacks
- 122.81: Copy paste (missing jump at 133.47 again like previously)
- 147.14: See 72.47; copy paste
- 148.36, 151.92: 24th double bass pedal, not 32nds
- 149.70: Suddenly all jumps. The layering needs to be more structured in this file.
- 151.14: Missing note
- 158.58: Now it looks like you're trying to layer in the vocals here. This jump should be on the 16th after. Missing jump on 159.47
- From the above line, this section is changing minijacks and jacks willy nilly
- 165.25, 167.03: Missing jumps
- 166.81: There aren't any vocals here. The vocal lands on the 16th before.
- 175.25: Random minijacks
- The file needs a better layering layout and reduce the copy paste.

Slam Crunk
8/10
- I went to my notes for the previous submission of this file to see what hasn't been changed.
- 26.64: This 16th jump is still missing
- 92.58: Missing 16th to the vocals This is insignificant, not sure why I put this here
- 93.98: The hidden 8th jack here could be removed so this part isn't just an awkward shift to short slow minitrills
- Otherwise this file looks good, although there were some 4-note 16th jacks where the sounds were 3-note 16th jacks that should have been stepped in a different column (e.g. 86.33 and 116.17)

Specular Reflection
6/10
- This drummer is so inconsistent
- 41.46, 46.80: Stepping these parts as single notes is counterintuitive when there's actually more emphasis here than what you stepped as jumps
- 48.65: Why is this a jump? The 16th jump before is layering the drums with the vocals, but this 4th jump is just the drum hit itself.
- 49.31, 49.38, 49.89, 50.37, 50.45, 50.79, 50.87, 51.20: These are just single drum hits
- 52.13: Missing hand (vocal, drum, guitar)
- 57.00: What is this 32nd going to?
- 58.96: This part should have been 12th/24th notation.
- 61.28: What is this jump going to?
- 68.40: Quad here is overkill, you just have a drum hit and a guitar
- 71.47, 71.80: Missing 8th jumps (It looks like you are trying to layer in the guitar here with the drums). Same for 76.96/77.30
- 74.96: What is this 32nd going to?
- What I mentioned at 71.47 repeats again and there is a noticeable copy paste thing going on. The layering should be more clear, at 90.34 I'm not sure why this is a hand but something like 84.87 is not.
- 104.94: Missing hand (vocal, drum, guitar)
- I couldn't follow the ending layering. What are the hands and jumps going to?
- I also noticed in the second half there was some copy paste stuff going on, and in this case you don't want a repetitive 8th section like that with the same patterns

Splinter
6/10
- Unknown Artist listed but this is Splinter from Savant.
- Offset changed to -0.020
- What's up with the first 3 notes? It should just be an 8th with a 24th at 127 BPM, the 24th is also wrong at 101.95 BPM
- 6.30, 13.86: This 4th should be separated from the trill, it's not the same sound
- 29.42/other 64ths: If these were supposed to create hands there is a high chance some of them will turn out to be 1 frame gallops.
- 33.04: Stepped too late, sound starts on the 8th before
- 34.34: Missing jump
- 36.23: Missing note
- 40.61, 40.68: This is just a 16th triplet start on the 8th note before
- 43.78, 47.80: Missing note
- 59.45: Not sure why this isn't a 48th placement but 53.59 and 53.82 are
- 55.67: Missing color note from 59.45 to this buzz sound (or missing jump)
- 67.01: Now I'm confused about the color usage. Why isn't this buzz offsetted like 59.45?
- 68.71, 68.94: Like 53.59 and 53.82, but I'm not sure why these parts are being stepped like this, there just seems to be an inconsistency here
- 70.79, 74.57, and so forth: See 55.67
- 77.53: This 16th is just a muffled sound, it shouldn't be a jump (I don't hear anything else there being layered)
- 83.90: Sound is on the 24th after (24th gallop)
- 87.09, 87.56: These are just soft sounds, not sure why there are jumps here/I don't hear anything being layered
- 93.71: This accenting attempt doesn't really work, the three hands in this section should just be jumps for two layered sounds
- 94.02: Ghost note
- 101.90, 103.79, 105.67: Missing notes
- 109.14: Ghost note (same situation as 94.02)
- 110.16: Missing notes
- 149.22: The stepping should lighten up here as the sounds are getting barely audible (What you were layering with jumps disappears at 149.93)

Star
7/10
- 34.63: This triplet doesn't have an 8th minijack but the previous two do
- 35.98: If this 16th was supposed to be part of the "I want to be a" line, the "be" falls on the 4th before
- 41.92, 48.58, 55.25: The "want" falls on the 16th after
- 62.13, 62.96: The kick is gone here but these claps with the melody should still make jumps (you put jumps at 88.79 and 89.63 so this is also inconsistent)
- 63.17: Missing 8th note. You stepped this kick at 89.83
- 70.04: Why did the 12th swing stream stop here? It should still keep going, you just introduced jumps with the claps
- 90.25: Missing 8th on the "you"
- 94.21, 94.63: The "bass, bass" is the same sound, these should be on the same column. Same for 100.88 and 101.29, 107.54 and 107.96, 114.21 and 114.63.
- 95.88, 102.54, 109.21, 115.88: "Raise your hands" should be an 8th triplet here
- The structure is there, but the change to broken 12ths at 70.04 didn't make much sense and some notes can be changed around

Suck This
3/10
- 3.20, 4.94: Missing guitar notes
- 10.98: The double bass pedal is on the 16th after. The guitar is on the 16th before the 4th
- 11.14-14.29: What's the layering here supposed to be going to?
- Continuing from the above line, there looks like missing jumps at 12.44, 12.77, 13.53, 13.64, 14.18, and a missing 16th at 13.86.
- 16.36, 17.12: Missing notes
- 20.92-26.25: What is this layering going to?
- 28.31: Missing hand.
- 28.31: Copy paste. 31.85 is exactly 10.98, 37.23 is the missing 8th note from 16.36/same runningman pattern, 34.62 is the same 24th pattern as previoussly and 34.07 is the same 32nd triplet etc.
- The copy paste goes all the way up to 47.77. Same confusing layering and notes.
- 50.16, 53.64: Missing guitar notes
- 56.14: Alright, now I'm convinced of inconsistent layering from this section. 56.90 and 60.38 should have been jumps for instance, because you were layering two instruments on 58.64 (56.90 and 60.38 have two guitars). The layering in this file is all over the place. I can't tell what the jumps should be going to, there needs to be a better structure
- 62.77: Missing note
- 64.29, 65.16, 66.03: If you listen closely these are not 3 note 16th jacks, these are just minijacks (for 64.29, 65.16 the third note lands on a double bass pedal and on 66.25 the note changes pitch)
- 68.60: This 12th is not part of the double bass pedal, the double bass pedal is the 24th gallop on 68.68; the guitar lands on the 16th.
- 68.31: There are opportunities to layer the higher snare here but you ignored it, yet previously there's all this confusing layering
- 70.60, 71.68, 72.34, 72.77: Missing notes
- 75.05: This 3rd note of the jack lands on a different instrument, there should only be a minijack on the 4th note
- 75.38-75.81: If these jumps were supposed to layer in the double bass pedal and the guitar why wasn't 76.57-76.90 emphasized
- 80.70-83.53: What is the layering here going to?
- 83.97: Only focus the jumps on the most prominent parts of the guitar. Otherwise, many more 16th jumps should have been stepped in this section.
- 90.43, 90.65: Ghost notes
- 99.18: This is not a minijack, the two notes are different pitches.
- 102.23: Did you mean to place this hand on the 16th after? This 4th hand makes no sense.
- 104.84: Missing note. 104.40-104.73 should have been emphasized.
- 106.57-113.10: This layering makes sense in contrast to most of the file. 113.20-113.42 as jumps would be layering both the drums and the guitar.
- 113.53: Copy paste from 7.44 again. This has happened several times now. This also means back to confusing layering.
- 134.40: Copy paste from 7.44 again, are you serious...
- Copy paste is usually done to preserve the original layering structure but make adjustments. Here it was just flat out copy and pasting the same sections again with inconsistent layering to start with. The file needs a structure reworking.

Summer Colours Arch (VisD) [6/10] [+?]
===========
- Playtest: Played alright, though I felt the difficulty fluctuated a tad too much (partially because of the nature of the song itself).
- 2.73: This first blue jump should land on a 4th (red note). Not a huge deal, but it would make sense to change it as this is the start of the measure.
- 19.41: How about using an up arrow here, since it's the same note as 19.25s? Of course, feel free to change a few of the following notes so the patterns flow nicely.
- 22.56: same as above.
- 23.25 ~ 24.04: Consider changing the pattern here for better PR. As it stands, it doesn't feel like the best pattern you could use given the little ascension. A suggestion:

- 35.69: 24ths instead of 32nds.
- 37.46 ~ 48.52: Quite inconsistent here. If the added 16ths are for the background percussion, be sure to fill in some of the notes you missed (38.99s, 39.08s, 40.47s, 42.14s, 42.24s, and so on). At the very least, check the 4ths as there are bass or snare drums landing on all of them in this section.
- 48.32: 24ths instead of 32nds.
- 68.45: note for percussion?
- 91.05: missing note.

Super Soaker (GammaBlaster) [7/10] [+.]
==========
- Playtest: It took me a few plays to appreciate this file. Should be fun for the upper-level players.
- 3.92, 4.10: different jumps here, like you step the next few measures? Minor suggestion.
- 35.86: note.
- 63.96: These are actually 32nds instead of 24ths. If you can make a fairly straightforward 32nd run here, go for it; if not, keeping them as 24ths works, too.
- 71.65: For the sake of consistency, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have sets of three 32nds here as well, just without the first two jumps. The chart currently doesn't account for the echo after the jump at 72.20s.

- 74.58: This is ultimately up to you, but I'd much rather see this part stepped similarly to the last few measures (broken bursts with jumps). Especially so because the synth is far from a constant 32nd stream.
- Aside from the issues I mentioned, this looks pretty good. Your layering was generally spot on, and the variety of the short 32nd runs with jumps kept the file interesting.

sylcmyk's theme (VisD) [5/10] [+?]
==========
- Playtest: Dragged a little towards the end and felt a bit overlayered at times, but okay to play overall.
- Too many grace notes throughout the file. Sometimes (especially in sections of the song where they are prevalent), they're a nice touch (e.g. 34.78s, 35.25s). But other times they detract from the flow of the file.
- Remember that while it's nice to be "technically correct", you may want to simplify certain sections so players can more easily follow your chart. Given how relaxed the song itself is, a good chunk of the chart felt like it had too many instruments layered at once (m. 40~42 for instance felt very weird to play).
- 17.86: This sounds more like a single ring than four 16th notes. Stepping them as two sets of mini-jumpjacks also makes it feel out of place. Consider making just the very first note at 17.86s a jump (using a colored note for emphasis if you want) and following the synth afterwards.
- 21.77: Since you're following the main melody here, pay close attention to the PR -- it'll help with making the file go with the music better. 21.85s and 22.00s are different notes.
- 25.36: same issue as 17.86s.
- 47.28: ghost note. The "go!" is around the blue note at 47.16s.
- 65.99: missing a 12th note.
- 86.07: missing an 8th note.
- 93.57: same as above.
- 108.57: same as above.
- 111.69: ghost 24th.
- 112.16: same as above. There are a few more like these in the next few beats as well. If you were stepping these as grace notes to the melody notes that land on the 4ths, they're closer together than a 24th. However, it wouldn't be a bad idea to remove them in order to emphasize the percussion a bit more (since you already have jumps on the main synth notes).
- 118.49: Personally think the swish here doesn't really need to be stepped. If removing this feels too empty, try adding the background synth that occurs at 118.41s.
- Definitely has the potential to be an enjoyable swing file. Keep at it!

Terminator (M0nkeyz) [3/10] [?]
===========
- Playtest: Felt like the file drifted in and out of sync. Maybe I'm going crazy, but if other judges think so as well, you may want to recheck your sync.
- Feels like a very strange cut. The very beginning of the mp3 is abrupt and missing a beat, which makes the beginnings of measures in your chart land a beat later than they should.
- Chart seems significantly early (30~40ms).
- Be consistent with your jump usage at the beginning. I understand if you'd like to keep the 32nds single notes, but it would be reasonable to have jumps on the 16ths where the snares land (3.57s, 3.70s, and so on) since you already have notes for them.
- 10.38 ~ 14.61: A bit more PR would've been nice here since you're just following the main synth. Not only do the ascending phrases have notes going from right to left, but also the repeated arrows on 1 and 4 (10.79, 10.93, etc.) occur where the two notes are completely different in the song. A pattern like 31231234 would work much more nicely. Keep in mind it's not necessary that you repeat the same exact pattern for the entire section (you could give some variation in the ascending phrases, for instance, by using something like 31241324).
- 33.57: repeated jumps here?
- 44.48: jump here for the snare instead of at 44.75.
- 44.75 ~ 54.02: Since you're already following the percussion (which usually is continuous stream of 16ths that could bore players after a while) for a good portion of the chart, it wouldn't be a bad idea to follow the "vocals" in this section. Of course, you could keep the jumps to emphasize the strong beats.
- 54.02 ~ 56.20: Consider jumping some of the snare here (particularly 54.29s, 54.57s, 54.70s, and 54.98s). This not only will make the section more interesting, but will have the effect of making it much easier for players to follow.
- 58.25: jump for the snare.
- 58.86: ghost note.
- 60.36, 60.50: missing 32nds for percussion.
- 66.02~: A whole bunch of missing notes here. Specifically at 66.23s, 66.50s, and 66.63s.
- 69.43: missing note.
- 69.84, 70.52, 70.93: same as above.
- For m. 34~39, please refer back to what I said about the same section at the beginning of the song.
- 88.38: EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH?!?! Why is there no note here?
- 101.68: ghost.
- 110.75: Again, it would be nice to add jumps for some of the snare (e.g. 111.02s, 111.57s) instead of having that lone jump at 112.11s.
- 112.18: missing a 32nd.
- 123.84~: Why not just step the percussion in its entirety, similar to 62.79s~?
- 132.16: This is the same as 71.07s. Actually, the rhythm for both is what you have stepped at 71.07s but with 64ths instead of 48ths. Since it's quite speedy, simplifying it is fine; just make sure you stay consistent.
- 146.75: No need to double the BPM here.
- I did point out a lot of subjective, stylistic changes that would make the chart more interesting. However, there are also consistency and misrhythm issues that you should take a look at. With those fixed, you should have a fun, straightforward chart.

Tetris (samurai7694) [7/10] [+.]
===========
- Playtest: Song is a bit repetitive, but the chart offset that some. Played quite nicely, and I liked the speedup at the end :3
- 23.44: ghost note.
- 42.06: ghost note. No note from the main melody, bass guitar, or the percussion.
- 59.22: note for percussion.
- m. 45~50: It could just be my headphones being bad, but check for ghost (e.g. 73.06s, 74.53s) and missing 16ths (e.g. 74.72s, 77.62s) in this section.
- 104.22, 104.34: jumps?
- 107.35 ~ 107.61: Not entirely sure of your jump placement here. Either remove the jump at 107.61 if you were jumping the accompanying guitar or add one at 107.48 if you were jumping the percussion or the main guitar.
- 116.48 ~ 128.10: Double-check your layering here; the jumps shouldn't be deviating much from the beginning (m. 5~).
- 148.00: missing note for the drum?
- Just a little bit of polishing and this should be good to go!

The Bird's Midair Heatstroke (samurai7694) [8/10] [+]
==========
- Playtest: Hahaha, this is going to be pretty tough on FFR.
- 6.81: Need one more note in this trill, at the very beginning.
- 10.17: What's this note going to?
- 14.49: Same as 6.81s, one more note in the trill.
- 28.17: Instead of a jump here, how about putting them on 28.41s and 28.65s?
- 44.81, 44.89: No 24ths. Instead, two 32nds at 44.85s and 44.91s. As a side note, this section is the same as 60.09s.
- 87.39: ghost note.
- Minor issues aside, very well stepped. Should pose a nice challenge for the more seasoned players.

The Dream of Scarlet (XelNya) [7/10] [+.]
==========
- Playtest: Short and sweet. Straightforward and fun to play. That placeholder note.
- 1.61: ghost note.
- 23.88: note for percussion (same as 33.48s)
- 24.03: jump for the snare (same as 33.63s). As a side note, there are some drumbeats between 22.93s and the [134] hand at 23.28, but you don't need to add these if you want to emphasize the guitar.
- 27.78: jump here for the sake of consistency with m. 28, where you jump the main guitar.
- 32.43: jump here for the snare.
- 52.76: 16th note for background percussion.
- 53.13 ~ 56.58: This section is very heavy in comparison to the rest of the file. I think you can come up with a lighter layering scheme here (e.g. jumping the main guitar line only -- 53.13s, 53.73s, and so forth). 56.58s on is fine, though a single note will suffice for 56.73s.
- 57.33 ~ 57.78: A simple [34][12] jumptrill will work well here, but that's up to you.

Thunder Light (hi19hi19) [6.5/10] [+.]
==========
- Playtest: No major complaints from a player's perspective.
- The beginning of the measure in the chart is one beat earlier than the beginning of the measure in the song. (happy)
- 17.79: missing a note.
- 18.35: same as above.
- 20.78: same as above.
- 21.35: you get the idea. There are other similar sections which I won't individually point out.
- m. 17~32: LOL

...ahem. More variation with the trill please, thank you. I did notice you change back and forth 1212 and 2121 as the pitch of the bass guitar changes, but is this two-note deal really necessary?
- 31.19: jump here for the guitar!
- 60.80, 60.90: It'd be fine to have notes here since you step the percussion even when the jumps land on a 16th in some of the previous measures.
- 62.30, 62.40: same as above.
- 65.77: missing note.
- m. 43~50: The bass guitar here varies even more than it does in m. 17~32. Some variation in the trills to reflect this would be nice.
- 116.29, 116.38: notes here? Maybe even a minijack. The emphasis on the guitar in the previous few beats is good, but I think stepping the drumbeats would better the transition into the next section of the song.
- Many of my previous comments apply to the repeated sections that make up a good chunk of the rest of the song.
- You can do better, Mr. Corn Man =w=

Upular (M0nkeyz) [5/10] [+?]
==========
- Playtest: Got a little bit boring, but played alright.
- Personally think the white notes are overused. For the most part they're applied in a consistent manner, but remember that their frequency can take away from the emphasis effect you're going for.
- Would have liked to see a little bit more PR at the beginning as you're solely following the melody. It'd be better, for instance, to have 6.97s on the
- 16.69, 16.81: The two down arrows here each need to be moved down a 16th (feel free to change the surrounding patterns as well). The vocals don't land on 16.69s and 16.81s.
- 21.73, 23.65, 25.57, 27.49: I don't think these are necesssary as you don't follow all the background 16ths (and doing so would give the file an overstepped feel anyway). For m. 12~13 in particular, consider just having 8ths, but paying closer attention to the PR of the vocals. There are similar sections later in the song as well.
- 28.80: White note not needed here.
- m. 16~19: I have mixed feelings about this part. On the one hand, it flows very nicely and is fun to play, but on the other hand it breaks the consistency of the chart because you abruptly stop following the 16ths that are still there for the succeeding few measures. One solution is to leave them out for m. 20~21, then re-adding them for m. 22~23, which is more similar to m. 16~19. This would keep the section from becoming too tedious of a 16th run while giving it a bit more structure. Whether you decide to change this or not is ultimately up to you.
- m. 32~35: More pattern variation here, please. Since the rhythms and melodies themselves are quite repetitive, copypasted patterns will bore players very quickly.
- 61.45: jump, since for 60.97s you jump the additional vocal that comes in.
- 65.29: same as above.
- 72.61: missing a note here.
- 87.97: same as above.
- 90.07: What is this note going to?
- m. 49~64: Many of the "colored" notes in this section land on simpler beat snaps such as 16ths (e.g. 92.61s, 100.29s, 107.97s, and 108.09s can all be shifted down a 48th). Also, check for consistency in repeated rhythms like 107.97s and 115.65s. Finally, pattern choices here felt very arbitrary -- keep in mind that if you're just following one sound (e.g. vocals, m. 49~56), pitch relevancy will help your chart fit the song much better.
- 126.67: This note is definitely early.
- 130.51: Same as above.
- The file has potential, but it needs a little bit of work in a variety of areas. Hopefully with fixes, you'll have a fun chart even with the song being a bit repetitive.

Video Out E (Gradiant) [8/10] [+]
==========
- Playtest: My keytaps sounded nice!! =w= A very flowy chart.
- 3.28: grace note a 24th before, just like the preceding note?
- 13.18: Not a terribly important issue, but consider making this (the snare) a different jump from 12.91s (the kick). Changing around the surrounding pattern, of course. Same for 21.72s and 21.99s.
- 34.93: A hand will work nicely here (the same emphasized note you had at 30.52s).
- 39.33: same as above.
- 43.74: same as above.
- 74.29: missing a note for the piano.
- 91.07: It sounds like this roll should be an 8th earlier (i.e. start at 90.94s).
- 120.39: jump instead of a hand?
- 120.80~: I like this wind-down/outro, well done!

Want You Gone (Xiz) [6/10] [+?]
==========
- Playtest: Played nicely though this isn't my kind of song.
- A lot of the jumps seem to go to drumbeats that aren't very prominent (e.g. 15.07s, 16.87s, 17.47s, 19.27s, etc.). Consider making them single notes to better emphasize the strong drumbeats.
- 29.92: missing some notes here?
- 45.22: no jump here. You could add one to 44.92s if you wish, since that's where the percussion lands on.
- 45.37: missing a note.
- 49.41: unnecessary grace note.
- 70.71: also missing some notes.
- 81.06, 81.36: ghost notes.
- 104.06: Again, this feels like an unnecessary grace note.
- 107.46, 107.76: missing notes for the percussion?
- 109.86: missing a note here.
- 112.56: same as above.
- 117.36: same as above.
- 122.76: ghost note.
- 129.36: missing note.
- 135.81: a single note will suffice as a placeholder unless you wanted to hint that the original song is the ending theme of the second game of the Portal series by putting two notes at the very end of the chart, in which case I salute you for your brilliance.
- The structure of the file is good, and I can see how you took PR into consideration. Please take some time to double-check your chart for ghost notes, missing notes, and jump placement. There seemed to be a fair number of prominent sounds that were left unstepped, and also a fair number of faint sounds that were emphasized too heavily.

You Goddamn Fish (Lambdadelta) [8/10] [+]
==========
- Playtest: Very aggressive layering, but fun!
- 23.67: ghost note?
- This is a fine chart. The only problem is that we already have a file for this ingame with a similar difficulty and structure. I wouldn't mind seeing this version ingame, but the other judges may think otherwise.

You Time (hi19hi19) [4/10] [?]
==========
- Playtest: Didn't find this appealing to play despite it being "technically" acceptable, sorry. Personally think that the problem lies within the song choice here. Most of the file (what you have stepped as 32nds, sometimes with very awkward patterns) is a strange simplification of the song. This takes away from the players' sense of following the song with the chart.
- 54.57: random jump -- either make this a single note or add in jumps for the percussion, at least where reasonable, to stay consistent. They should occur at 52.91s, 55.24s, 57.57s, etc. Since parts of the file already have jumps within 32nd patterns, you could experiment with this section to see if you can add in the jumps while keeping it playable.
- Alternative to the above, you could make 53.91~ a longer stream lasting until 54.74. It's essentially the same as 35.24s and 63.24s.
- 94.74: jump for the high-pitched note (similar to 101.66).
- The file just seems overkill on the whole. It also has some sections with inconsistent and arbitrary layering.

Zephyros (iironiic) [5/10] [+?]
==========
- Playtest: Enjoyable, albeit a bit long.
- There are quite a few incorrect rhythms overall, be sure to double-check them and change at least the ones that won't break the flow of the file.
- 22.00: missing a note for the percussion after this jump.
- 22.17: 32nds instead of 24ths here.
- 24.61: The drumbeats here are 6 32nd notes starting at 24.59s.
- 25.13: missing 32nd. Feel free to change the patterns around as well.
- 27.34: again, missing a note for the percussion after the jump.
- 27.50: 32nds.
- 28.25: a 16th here?
- 29.94: same as 24.61s.
- 30.46: same as 25.13s.
- Many of the same misrhythms also occur in later sections; take your time in trying out fixes and seeing which patterns work best.
- 32.75: missing 16th.
- 33.42: same as above.
- 38.09: same as above.
- 55.59, 55.75, 56.92, 61.25: missing notes for the piano. I don't think you were stepping the background percussion here. If you're following the piano accompaniment, make sure to stay as consistent with your stepping as possible. Also be sure to check for missed notes in the following section.
- 129.50~: The main melody in this entire section is 12ths. The drums, however, are 16ths -- you should take out some ghost notes if you want to follow those more closely.
- 131.34: jump here.
- 136.67: same as above.
- 161.17: The hand should be a 16th earlier.
- 171.84: The jump should be a 16th earlier.
- Overall, the structure and patterning are alright. Just needs a good deal of fixes in terms of rhythms and consistency.

SUPPLEMENTARY JUDGMENTS
PASSED FILES

Because these files are passed files, I'm just giving quick ratings/judgments.

20031023 (Wayward Vagabond)
Rating: 5.5/10 -> [+?]
- especially not fond of the transition into the 32nd roll at 41.565
- with the structure being really repetitive, more could be done to accentuate the 8th note melody against the less prominent synth in the midsection of the song
- definitely not a fan of that concept at the end, doesn't work for something where there are clear notes accented

A.Q. Children (mi40)
Rating: 5/10 -> [+?]
- relatively uninteresting and boring pattern choices for a file of this difficulty
- abundance of improper mini-jacks
- instances of overlayering in really unnecessary parts
- despite being a relatively short audio cut, file is draggy

CirnoRHTL (hi19hi19)
Rating: 6.5/10 -> [+?]
- I'm all for harder files but 10.159 is overly done compared to the previous section
- file has some minor layering/structure errors dispersed throughout the file
- last third of the file is simply way overdone in both layering and general speed, and having that kind of difficulty at the very end of the chart is generally problematic for scoring
- torn on accepting this; it's got some value as an extremely difficult chart for sure

Fanteucpx[zv (hi19hi19)
Rating: 8/10 -> [+]
- a bit overdone in layering occasionally
- chart is pretty fluent despite how fast it is
- more consistently structured than CirnoRHTL, albeit quite a bit heavier NPS

Happy Meal (iironiic)
Rating: 8/10 -> [+]
- a few noticeable PR errors in more melodic sections
- some minor mis-rhythms are present throughout the chart, take a look and address please
- chart is quite smooth and plays nicely

Phantasmagoria Mystical Expectation (YoshL)
Rating: 7/10 -> [+.]
- patterning could use some slight improvements in the constant streams
- because a good majority of the song is a nearly uninterrupted long 16th stream that is interrupted, the back end of the song seems a bit draggy
- otherwise, this is fine

Arsonist [Standard] (Silvuh) - 8.5/10

- some of the layering chocies in the intro feel a bit counter-intuitive insofar as what can be heard comapred to what is being hit, but it is consistent and accomplishes staying in flow with the difficulty of the file; it's not really an issue
- color note usage was ok, although a bit -bizzare- to switch to orange and purple/pink for when the background cut out
- file was overall very good and layered/pred well

Closer to the Core (Silvuh) - 7.5/10

11.19s - should be stepped as 32nds if the following place this sound occurs is
36.434s - there's another guitar note here
106.861s - the transitions into these 32nds can be made a bit easier, although it's not that big of a deal since all the minijacks balance the difficulty
- file is mostly good for what the song provided, although there is a bit of repetitive structure

Reality Hits You Hard Bro (mi40) - 5/10

- in many parts of the file sections are inconsistetly layered; that is, what you have as jumps/hands is not consistently expressed as such and without any good reason to deviate, and you have the synth stepped in many different ways as grace notes of many different intervals and then bursts as well, it'd be best to be more consistent, in addition to the fact that a lot of these grace note chains don't reflect the sound in the music at all
- song is quite long but quite interesting, doesn't necessarily need a cut. what it needs is very high attention to layering in order to make it good to play through the whole way

Silent Wind (Silvuh) - 8/10

22.935s - note is late

- file looks well structured and good pr/general pattern relevancy throughout, jump accenting was good. nothing else to comment

You Time (hi19hi19) - 8/10

- seems an awesome boss stream file, all the layering and pattern selection looks very good, and selection between 24th and 32nds. file is also short enough to be very replayable.
