Synopsis of night 1: Not everyone checked in… a pregame phase would have been helpful but also would have taken another day or two and I think people want to get day 1 started asap (there’s not really much difference between night start and having a confirmation phase imo)
The odds of only nun/peh happening are ˝ * ˝ * ˝ * ˝ * ˝! I simply used random.org’s random number generator from 1 to 4: 1 is nun, 2 is gimel, 3 is hey, 4 is peh.
Day 1
With the master wolf and a vanilla human in a KITB, I could easily have just offed the human to keep the game closer and nobody would know. It turns out I kept too much power in a single wolf and (perhaps crucially) the wolves weren't told the roles of their partners, just the names. I think losing a wolf before the Kinara is fully lit is just too costly in this setup. I also didn't consider the cost of removing N1 kills.
Night 2
inDheart- spins dreidel [result: GIMEL]
MixMasterLar- spins dreidel [result: PEH]
Thesunfan- seers charu [result: BLUE]
Lightknight924- spins dreidel [result: GIMEL]
Svaz- seers thesunfan [result: BLUE]
Wolves- kill inDheart
Antori- spins dreidel [result: PEH]
Mellonxcollie- spins dreidel [result: NUN]
Funnier6- spins dreidel [result: HEY]
Charu- shoots XelNya [result: DEAD]
Dabackpack- spins dreidel [result: GIMEL]
Night 2 synopsis:
Both of the seers got good hits tonight, with sunfan finding charu and svaz finding sunfan. That’s about it, but these *technically* random dreidel spins aren’t doing it for me. I want more variety. At this point it seems wolves are relatively doomed.
I accidentally screwed up and sent charu a vanilla human PM :X I blame the forums Kappa
Day 2
Somehow a failure of communication occurs and MixMasterLar gets insta'd. It was fun to watch, sorry MML :3
Night 3
Funnier6- spins dreidel [result: hey]
Wolves- kill funnier6 [result: DEAD]
Svaz- seer Raeko [result: GREEN]
Thesunfan- seer svaz [result: RED]
Antori- spin dreidel [result: nun]
Mellonxcollie- spin dreidel [result: nun]
Night 3 synopsis: things continue to happen- wolves kill funnier “out of spite” and also to work towards a game plan of removing green vanillas.
Day 3:
Svaz is revealed to be red and that's pretty much it. With Svaz going down it's funnygurl vs the world. I don't have high hopes for anyone vs the world here.
Night 4:
Thesunfan- seer Nakah [result: GREEN]
Nakah- one shot role seering on DaBackpack [result: Vanilla Human]
DaBackpack- one shot role seering on Raeko [result: Vanilla Human]
Funnygurl- roleblock DaBackpack, kill Antori
Night 4 synopsis:
Well, maybe if FG had killed sunfan and blocked nakah there was a chance there, but realistically funnygurl was dying over everyone else anyway just for being less towny.
Overall synopsis:
Haha my bad
wolves got super unlucky with basically everything EXCEPT for the intentional RNG. This game was originally designed to be hosted on NSM, and I think that if I was designing a game specifically to be played on FFR I wouldn't have made some of the design choices I did. Typically NSM is less willing to lynch reds when there's a <50% chance of wolf there, so maybe I should have added a fourth red player to more strongly disincentivize red lynches here.
I also put too much power into master wolf, since I figured wolves would prioritize saving numbers for when the kinara went off (a perfect game for wolves would mean they reach parity on Night 4 with that extra janitor kill), but they lost both a number for parity and the extra kill, which was probably way too punishing. Also, the sleigh driver ability never got used so I basically forgot how it even worked.
The dreidels ended up being fine, with only 2 "confirmed humans". The real point of the dreidels was to keep humans active, since a lot of times people getting a vanilla human role PM feel like they have nothing to do and no way to solve a game. In the hands of FFR they probably became a little too potent, but the idea was so entrenched and entwined with the concept of dreidels I couldn't really think of an alternative.
Player synopsis:
Wolves
Humans
OOTC games just do this thing to you where you suddenly play way more aggro. Watching you talk to Nakah and Funnier gave me huge flashbacks to my first game here, where I was set on evanescence/freezinice/soundwave and you, freezin, and soundwave basically bullied me into trying to lynch sunfan
I don't necessarily think this change in attitude is a bad thing, but it does tend to make you uncooperative and you (along with backpack) were unknowingly going against the seer trying to lynch funnier and nakah. It's good that you were trying to get funnier and nakah lynched in a sense, though, because (speaking from experience) it helps players realize that sometimes they need to consider that other people don't know their role and even though they're human they need to be careful about what they say.
Could the game have been better balanced? Definitely. Would it have been as absurd or fun? Subjective, but naaaaaaaah. In hindsight I would have made the three wolves equally powerful instead of stacking it topheavy and making the third wolf vanilla.
The dreidels were risky, but I think it was tough to balance them any better. Consider a bastard game where the seerings may not always be accurate...
Anyway, thanks everyone for playing, and the next time I host the game will be much tamer by comparison.
