Wow this was really well wrote.
I agree with everything here and the part where you mention focus on your weaknesses I admit I was stubborn as fuck because I always wanted to get better scores and try and catch up with my competitors.

Until I started training my weaknesses I was absolutely terrible as MA and in particular my biggest weakness, rolls and polyrhythms.

Once I started playing easier charts and working on my accuracy and play some roll/poly heavy charts I was able to improve.

I find it more boring then discouraging to be honest.
