Great thread to read through. Mechanical keyboards are definitely the way to go for the record. They cost more, but keep in mind they'll last a LOT longer than standard keyboards. I think the general numbers are 5 million keystrokes on a membrane keyboard and 50 million keystrokes on a mechanical keyboard. Most, if not all, mechanical keyboards have 6 key roll over (6 keystrokes at once) with USB, and some come with USB to PS/2 adapters that will N-key rollover (every key will register no matter what). It'll give you a good idea of what each switch is like if you didn't know before hand.
