some quick tips for compressing video sizes

First of all, get a program such as VirtualDub. This is what I use and will be using for these examples.

1. remove audio/sound from the video by disabling the stream
2. use a filter to resize the video into the proper dimensions for Stepmania (320x240). VirtualDub for instance has a resize filter in the many filters they have available. Make sure aspect ratio is not nearest neighbor...that's shit quality. Precise bilinear/bicubic is what you should use.
3. physically constrain the file size of the video by changing the bitrate. VirtualDub has a separate compression option in which you choose an encoder, such as DivX, of which the bitrate can then be modified. 512 kb/s is an appropriate bitrate. Much less and your video once again will be shit quality.
