Tested this and here are my conclusions:

Windows 7 with FF 7 - no lag spikes as expected, smoother gameplay, just overall no lag on the browser.

Windows 7 with GC - Same as above with no complaints so far

Windows 7 with IE9 - Some lag spikes, slightly smoother game play, lags terribly on song with more than 20 TPS.

In my opinion, do not use internet explorer for this.
