On the old ladder threads, the items would have a description next to it and whatever it was could be applied to a match you're going to have. It didn't actually mean you'd be playing with that item in the actual match or anything. x3

For example, the Bomb-omb item, which I believe was established to have the effect of knocking someone you wish to challenge down two rungs rather than the default of one if you were to win that match set.

And I actually agree with ic0 about the Bridge of Eldin stage. It's almost as bad as the Green Hill Zone stage where you can just easily toss someone right out. XD
