Re: IMHO: DS is the best console of all time.

I didn't enjoy New Super Mario Bros. In fact I can't really think of any DS games that compare to the SNES's best.

Re: DS Homebrew?

The R4 hadn't been supported for a while before the lawsuit. Doesn't matter though, since it's pretty compatible (and really cheap). But there are better cards, as that guy said.

Re: Tales of phantasia

I wouldn't call the battle system smooth.

My main complaint is that it's hell to get around quickly because Cless walks so slowly. You can sort of get around this by targeting a far-away enemy, in...

Re: Mother 3 fan translation Released! :D

I'm about 8 hours in and damn, the story is immersive. Also, the music is sublime. And the dialogue:

Re: Final Fantasy?

I haven't seen anyone mention the terribleness of VII's fixed camera. Pressing in a direction could send you up to 45 degrees off your mark. Pretty much ruined exploration for me.

System and etc: $80-100
Games: up to $100 (Zelda CE is worth around $35 alone)

Getting above $175 would be pretty good. Open at around $40-50.

Get a hard foam pad. I got one from http://buynshop.com a while ago and it worked great for a couple years. (It didn't break, I gave it to a friend)

Ignoring the bump, this should be possible so that Sonic and Snake will be playable without previous hours of gameplay (which apparently are the characters new players most want to play as).

I'm leaning more towards PS1 games since they're cheaper and classic and such.

Right now I've got it narrowed down to Xenogears, Vagrant Story, or Chrono Cross.

Good PS1/2 RPGs?

I'm looking for a good RPG for my friend, something like Vagrant Story, or anything a FF7 fan would enjoy.

Budget is around $30 by Ebay. Narrow it down to one choice if you can.
