Re: Scoring Data in Brutal Difficulty Range

Well, the current system relies entirely on the manually-assigned difficulty rating to sum up all the factors like chart structure. To do anything different, we'd basically need an automatic...

Re: Scoring Data in Brutal Difficulty Range

I feel like this would add way too much variability to a player's skill rating, in that you could suddenly drop rating just because someone else did well on a file. Not to mention, it would be...

78 on R1, 93 on R2 (by winning the round), then back to 78 on R3 (by losing the 2nd round and gaining a strike), then up to around 87 on R4 (by winning the 3rd round).

Re: D8 Deb8

No, we actually wouldn't.

In the first round, we'd need one file, since there's one group.

In the second round, we'd need two files: one for the zero-strike group, and one for the one-strike...

I'm arguing that the divisional system as a whole is flawed and needs to be replaced. That's why I said at the beginning that adding a D8 might work for now (since it reduces the number of players...

I think this can be worked around given the right tournament structure. There's been many proposals for formats for divisionless OTs, and I know I'm not the first to suggest this.

I'm in favor of a D8 for this OT, but I feel like that's answering the wrong question. Love it or hate it, the division system needs to go. Why? Because it encourages holding yourself back, if you...

Honestly I could see it even higher than 56...of course I'm total trash at runningmen but I can AAA or low-SDG most of the songs in that level and I'm not even close to SDG'ing that one.

Re: Vertex BETA vrofl Difficulty Level (hypothetical)

It's not.

Also, if I remember correctly vROFL isn't ranked (similar to the 0-rated files) so the number doesn't actually matter. The rating used to be 999.

Re: Entropy Gain for per-receptor NPS

Thing is, for FFR specifically, this is a moot point because FFR difficulties are based strictly on the difficulty to AAA a song. It doesn't matter if a song is more prone to blackflags or 15g scores...

Way higher. I haven't scaled it to match the 1-120 (or 1-99) FFR scale, but Undici is given a value of 49.5 (for some comparisons, RATO is 46.4, Magical 8bit Tour is 41.2, La Camp is 39.4). DP is...

Re: Entropy Gain for per-receptor NPS

It was not pure NPS (NPS was included in the algorithm but only a small factor). It was more like "give each note a value based on how close it is to the next one on the next arrow/hand/overall, then...
