attention people who play spread wit an av rank <275
im trying to switch to spread cause of the new subscriber key mapping feature.
i normally play index, i have an av rank of 275.something and i have 149 AAAs, innocent decay being my best i havent improved much lately and i know spread is for the best of the best, ive searched the old threads and found people who are worst than me giving advice, and honestly what they say means nothing because im already better than them and i only want to hear from the best that switching to spread is worth it, if any1 better than me has something to say about spread let me know... |
Re: attention people who play spread wit an av rank <275
My average rank isn't in the range that you want, but you can take my advice. If you learn spread, but continue to practice index you will have a deadly combination. Spread will help you with patterns that aren't indexable, but if you get better as index as you go you can also do index songs as your PA gets good enough to go for Oni on songs like VB or other indexable songs.

Re: attention people who play spread wit an av rank <275
Average rank had nothing to do with skill, unless the person has specifically played every single song. If you have 300 AAAs, and you haven't played say 50 songs that are over rank 10,000, your average rank is going to suck.

Re: attention people who play spread wit an av rank <275
Spread is more versatile than index. While you may be able to do certain songs fine on index you can do pretty much anything with spread.

Vertex BETA spread (PA: 105-0-0-2, avoided avmisses, I was new) Flight of the Bumbleebee spread (PA: 14-0-0-1) I found neither of them to be particularly taxing :) |

Well, once I switched to spread and stuck with it for a while, my average rank went from 600 to 100...
And jumpstream is soooo much easier (and it's in a lot of songs..) Things like Runningmen and One-handed trills just take some getting used to. |
Re: attention people who play spread wit an av rank <275
jumpstreams are what i really need to improve on too

I got 1 good on Vbeta with spread. You can basically do anything spread, just some things are harder. My avgrank is 5, and I'm pure spread. I'm sure that say something :)

Yea. I'll admit, I was skeptical about switching, but now that I have, I am completely grateful. I'm not so great at stream anymore, but I've been getting better scores on everything else, and AAAing stuff like Famouz. Jumpstream. I could never do that before.

3 finger is the way to go
im spread :( |
Re: attention people who play spread wit an av rank <275
Spread IS the most versatile style. Your index and middle fingers are the fastest fingers on your hands, especially trills; put them together and you've got something. There's also no hassle to try to position a finger on a different key. Each finger has a location.
|
Re: attention people who play spread wit an av rank <275
But the thing is if you originally did 3-finger and then worked spread in to your 3-finger style, THAT'S when you can do nearly anything.

220bpm+ UR/DL trills, anybody?
It's possible, but it's hard, and chances are you're going to get CTS practising that. I play numpad 4-finger, so I can switch my fingers around during trills. But yeah, if you want to get serious and get good scores, play spread. |
Re: attention people who play spread wit an av rank <275
i play spread and my average rank is like 123
a few patterns are difficult so you just gotta get used to them but id say spread dominates =] |
Re: attention people who play spread wit an av rank <275
Though I don't play spread, I play close enough to it; 2 hand/4-fingered with middle/ring fingers. My average rank would be single digit if I bothered to play the newer songs.
It's worth it. |
Re: attention people who play spread wit an av rank <275
k I'm switching to spread, last night i layed down my foundation for spread, i got used to keeping my fingers in place which was hard cause whenever there was an up arrow id move my finger up like i would on index, i can almost AAA some standard songs but i definitely need alot of practice
