FFR Hall of Fame

Hello FFR! Welcome to the early stages of the Flash Flash Revolution Hall of Fame!

Flash Flash Revolution has been around for nearly 5 years now; we've been through a lot. It started out as a simple flash game based off of the "Dance Dance Revolution" concept, and has grown into a site of it's own.

Throughout the years, many things have been added and changed to the site. When new things are presented to us, and over time, we tend to forget about what has happened in the past. I'm sure that most of the new people to this site do not know how FFR was 4 years ago. I'm sure they don't know who the best people were, nor what the community was like. We all live in the present, yet the past shaped what we are now.

This is the basis of the FFR Hall of Fame; We would like to recognize everything this site has been through over the years. Everything from the best players, to accomplishments, tournament winners, helpful users, threads and even site additions, will be included within this list. It will be the place to remember those and what has made this site what it is today.

To start things off, we'll be recognizing the best players this site had and has. The only way going about this is separating the history of the best players into eras. FFR has dramatically changed over the last 5 years. Most of the initial people who played/discovered this game are no longer around. Does that mean they should be forgotten? Of course not.

We'll be separating the five years into 3 eras. This is the only reasonable way to organize and actually distinguish what accomplishments people have set and who the best were. This is how we'll be separating it:

(Late)2002-2004: This is basically the beginning of the site. The original players, original songs, original high scores.

2004-2007: With the growth of the community and the vast amount of songs added, this definitely needs it's own era.

2007-onwards: Speed Mods. Speed Mods. Speed Mods. Speed Mods. Nothing else to say.

For each era, we will be picking three judges that suit each category:

2002-2004 Era: Rebirth, jimerax, and myself.
2004-2007 Era: TBA
2007- Era: darkshark, Hammy, tba

How judging will work: We'll be going through old high scores, threads, etc., looking for information and facts of who should be on the list and why. When a user is added to the list, we will give a brief to long description followed by an example most likely.

Over the next few days, we'll be examining people that fit under the next two eras and appointing the other judges. We'll most likely be picking 3 from each era. If you have been picked, you'll receive a PM from me entitled "Judging for FFR HOF." Please respond to me A.S.A.P with your decision so we can get started on creating the player HOF list. Remember, this is just the beginning of everything. After the player HOF list has been created, we won't need judges anymore. I will be creating polls for picking the other aspects that will be included in the HOF.

Also: If anyone is good with graphics, please let me know. We're going to need someone/some people to make graphics later on.

EDIT: I also want to thank Windsurfer and everyone else in the old HOF thread for reminding/influencing me into putting this all together ;)

Please don't ask about being in the HOF or being a judge.

Well, if it means anything, I believe Nu0n should be on the list, for he is the best (I think) pure indexer.

Don't forget to mention screen cut.

2005 - only a few people knew about screen cut.
2006 - a lot of people noticed screen cut makes it a lot easier to read arrows.

2007-Noobs think that if they use screencut they'll be cool.

We're not gonna include lists for each individual playing style. Just a top 5 overall

Well, there's not going to be a restriction for the amount of players for each year, but just taking a quick look over everything it will be around 5-12 players each year.

You guys are not gonna recognize those who contributed to the site?

EDIT: oh

Re: FFR Hall of Fame

They've demonstrated equal skill. I'm getting sick and tired of this idiotic "If I play in a style that is personally -harder- for me to do well at, I must be good" nonsense.

Every style is equally valid, and every score should be considered only as a score, the style has no bearing on it.

If you -prefer- one-handed style, and elect to play that way because you find it easier than other styles, why should you get some imaginary extra credit over someone who -perfers- to play a different way?

If you aren't one of the -objectively- best players on the site, you shoudln't be included in a hall of fame for the best players on the site, its just that simple.

Re: FFR Hall of Fame

See the thing is: Everyone knows the spread has the most advantages over every other style. If someone chooses to play one handed, index, three fingered, one handed one fingered, or otherwise, that's their choice. If we specifically include each style, we'd be doing a massive amount of research. I guess if anything, we could what style each person was in the description we'll be adding, but that's about it.

EDIT: Dev covered it basically.

I love this idea, and I'm glad that its actually put to work! But how will you appoint the other judges?
